Silver Foxes PoetDr. Grace Charlotte Cooper

WORDS Words dont come Like that ABC shorthand They sometimes play around on the edges of the mind Teasing with meaning that isnt fully expressed You know what they mean But the listener wont because youve forgotten the vowels The consonants just dont make sense alone So the full words wont come Just like that forwarded e-mail Where there are so many names They cant really be read They jumble together in the mind Trying to convey...Something But they hide under the flotsam Of old half-forgotten conversations And old wounds that fester even when hidden So the things they represent dont get said or heard or even softly spoken in the mind Words just dont come.

We first met Dr. Grace Charlotte Cooper in the November 2010 edition of the Silver Foxes Newsletter. We are pleased to offer another of her insightful poems this month. Dr. Cooper has more poems which can be found at: www.cwi.5u.com
