I first focused on the ranking of the GSBE but I also looked at the points of difference with its competitors. The difference the GSBE has is with its relationship with industry. I also saw the GSBE as helping to form me as a leader why follow the leader when you can be one? Marketing is something you cannot just teach you have to send a message and be passionate about it, and this is where the lecturers at the GSBE excel. The lecturers are passionate and as a result they inspire us.

Ive always had an interest in marketing but my previous studies had been more in the generalist arts area. I was at a point in my career where I felt I needed to brush up on my marketing skills and the graduate certificate with its practical, business-centric approach seemed like a really good choice. Knowing more about the theoretical framework for marketing as well as having case studies and other resources to draw upon has given me more confidence to pursue marketing plans at work.

Last winter break I went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and worked as a student consultant in a human resource company called Talent 2 for two weeks. As a team, we were responsible for identifying potential acquisition targets for Talent 2 and presenting our research outcome to senior management. This was my first professional work experience in an English environment so I strongly developed my communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills from the experience.
