Employees receive an annual benefit package valued at $22,000.

Tasks DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Special Agent in Charge is accountable for local day to day operations by providing direct coaching, teaching, facilitation and guidance to special agents, patrolmen and contract security and non-security personnel. This position requires 24-7 on call status and the requirement to change shifts often as necessary around the requirements of the territory. In addition, the SAIC also performs administrative functions regarding budget, equipment and assignment of personnel including scheduling, evaluation and training. The SAIC is

responsible for attending all Homeland Security and local law enforcement meetings as a representative of BNSF Police. During the absence of the Chief Special Agent, the SAIC could be placed in a position leading Police operations and investigations. These investigations may be extremely intricate, complex, and confidential. This position will also be required to work under hazardous conditions i.e., chemical spills, riot control, armed trespassers, etc. The protection of Company property and assets through well developed proactive crime prevention efforts to ensure safe and on time train performance will be one of the primary aims of the position. Position is responsible for all Police activities in the designated area.

Requirements BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED. Must have satisfactorily completed basic police training at a recognized state certified academy. Eighteen months of successful experience as a full time peace officer with a city, county, state federal or railroad law enforcement agency is preferred. Must meet peace officer commissioning standards in state in which this job is posted and be commissioned as such and maintain a valid State Peace Office License in that state. Must meet BNSF Resource Protection Solutions Team standards as a Special Agent. Must have ability to obtain a valid drivers license. Must be willing and able to travel as required. Must be able and willing to use the companys computer system for creating reports and databases. Must be physically and psychologically fit, able to successfully pass any required company evaluations and pass an extensive background investigation. Must successfully complete any required company training for this position. Must have broad knowledge of railroad industry and operations; particularly as it relates to handling emergency situations such as derailments, load securement, and like events . Must have a broad knowledge of criminal law and procedures. Must be able to successfully lead people, often in a stressful critical-event environment. Must be able to successfully coach, counsel, and facilitate a team of railroad police and related personnel. Must be able to successfully manage a local budget and the administrative processes and procedures of a local team. Must be able to meet any government or Company training and retention standards. TRAVEL: Moderate BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION ELEMENTS: Extensive criminal history review. Verification of last 7 years of driving and employment history to include military service. Social Security number verification Academic and Education verification PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL QUALIFICATION PROCESS: To include, but not limited to: medical history questionnaire; and BNSF required drug screen. DRUG TEST: BNSF uses a hair test for illegal drugs in its employment application process. Please note that it will be necessary for you to provide a hair specimen for this test, which will test for illegal or illicit drug use in the past 90 days. Hair specimens can be collected from EITHER the head or body and can be taken from several locations to get the required amount necessary for testing. Studies indicate that the head hair grows an average of 1/2 inch per month. You will not be able to progress an application for employment unless you are able to provide an adequate hair specimen for testing. Hair collections will be done at the BNSF Hiring Event.
