was a religious character!

The Union army lost more than 17,000 soldiers out of 130,000. The Confederate army lost more than 12,000 out of 60,000.

The Battle Of Chancellorsville

Started when Hooker wanted to destroy the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia (Lees troop).

Fire spread through the thick trees!!

of the Mississippi. Grant wanted to take over control of Lees army in Virginia, while Sherman raided Georgia. He knew that the North could afford the casualties, but not the South.

This battle led the continuance of war because Grant promised Lincoln, Whatever happens, there will be no turning back. Grant kept on going with all the violence although he was labeled a butcher, because he wanted the North to win. This was thought to be assured because the South could not handle losing so much casualties, while the North could keep replacing and replacing.

The battle continued onto Spotsylvania, at Cold Harbor, and also at Petersburg.

LIFE ON TH E H OME FRONT

During mens absence, women had to step up and take care of the big family. They had to ll in their husbands shoes to make money, feed the children, and basically be in charge of all decisions in the house.
For those who lived near the battle eld, they were living in utter destruction. They were ghting for the destroyed lands and went thru some harsh treatment just because they were near the war. Some got their food & property taken, and some even got raped without having the chance to nd their right because the whole nation was too hectic.

Scarcity and ination brought depression to the North. There was no money! The North had the federal banking system to try and bring the ination down. North also tried printing money. North borrowed money through government bonds and unstructured Morrill Tariff of 1861; raised tariff to increase government income and this caused the rst national income tax.

This Civil War turned families against each other because it would split up the members. For example, two sons would join the Confederate side while the father got enlisted into the Union army. This not only affected the families physically being apart, but mentally too because they had to set different mindsets to ght in war. They were going into battle within their own blood related family members.

EFFECTS & IMPACTS OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR

The lasting sentiments impressed on the North was extreme sadness and depression throughout the cities. Families were torn apart, peoples homes and owned land were destroyed or damaged, and the nation was going through a economic crisis. People had no money, and even if they had money, it was not worth enough to buy food for everyone in the family. This war was the most destructive war in American history.

The treatment we got from the South was dreadfully shocking. Prisoners of war, otherwise known as the P.O.W., was a camp of the South that took prisoners from the North and starved them to death. This was like a replay of the Holocaust when the Nazi took over the Jewish people.

North stood to preserve the Union and hold up the Emancipation Proclamation to free the slaves.

However.. the North had to face a huge economic blow and loss of man power. America also lost respect for not being able to keep the country

Benets: The Union

beneted by gaining more power over the Confederate States. With their control, they could execute their desiring laws, to unite themselves with the South. The Unions overall plan was to prevent the South from seceding, get rid of slavery, and bring America together with one government and one president.
RECONSTRUCTION

Mistakes: The Union

thought that the enforced rules would be followed directly, and that the Confederates would shake hands with the North and join the Union. However, many Confederate states decided to rebel and secede!

Purpose: Reconstruction ideas began even before the war ended. With the victory of
the Union, Lincoln wanted to enforce the control of the Confederate states and organize America with their personal opinions. Reconstruction allowed the North to enforce new amendments and laws that declared slow freedom enlarging for the blacks in the South. North believed that all these ideas would tie up into making America a united nation, instead of having the united states split into two major divisions. Reconstruction solution helping North & South
In any case, its always important to listen to both sides of the story. So, in order reconstruct a solution that may satisfy both North and South, the North should have taken the Souths opinions as well, instead of taking over most rights of the Confederates. The new amendments that enforced freemen to live freely and giving blacks more rights, angered the South because they had absolutely no say in this. Norths plan of reconstruction for South was reasonable with their desire to achieve a *United nation, but they could have used better tactics to convince them.
