VETERANS
WE HONOR YOUR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE

DAY

Unashamed and Unembarrassed

Shame results from the guilt of sin; embarrassment comes from a mistake or socially awkward situation. When Jesus is mentioned in some circles, some so-called Christians become uncomfortable, uneasy, and jump to change the subject. How odd? He died naked on a cross, so surely we should be willing to confess Him before men (Matthew 10:32). Dont avoid the Subject of Subjects, springing to talk of last nights ballgame instead of the last days or the recession instead of the Return of Christ. As soon as you trust in Christ as your Savior, you are to give a public witness for Him in water baptism. You dont even have to prepare a speech but should be willing to repeat out loud these words: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and my Lord and Savior. We are willing to give a testimony of His inward change through this outward symbol, which pictures death to the old life, burial and resurrection of the new life: For as many of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ (Galatians 3:27). Baptized into Christ Jesus, walk in newness of life (Romans 6:3, 4). You are not being baptized in order to become a child of God, but because you have already met Him: Crispus, the ruler of the Synagogue, believed on the Lord with all of his household; and many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized (Acts 18:8). Now that you belong to Jesus, you are consecrated to Christ, so proudly wear His ring (i.e. baptism) just as you would wear a wedding band. He first loved you, so your love for Him should outweigh your desire for others approval. We invite you to be baptized either in our church worship services or in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend at our special Sunday afternoon worship service at the beach. It will be my joy to help you in this simplest act of obedience. Why wait any longer? Dont fear what others may think. As my friend, Adrian Rogers, said, I may be a nut, but I am fastened to a good bolt, the Lord Jesus Christ. Of course, being Christ-like is not being crazy or cultic! No apologies, no regrets for radical obedience to your Savior.

Guest Reception
There is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following the Saturday night and Sunday morning 11:00 service. Come and meet Pastor Wicker.

Red Shoes Prayer Walking Ministry

Often we are so busy evangelizing the world that we forget our neighborhoods are the greatest and most forgotten mission fields. Red Shoes are small groups of women walking together through neighborhoods praying...all wearing red shoes, white clothes, and a smile. These groups will also be gathering for coffee, fellowship, and updates. Our prayer is that people will start realizing what we are doing and ask us to pray for their needs. Relationships can then be built and we can invite them to Bible studies and church from there, as well as share Jesus with them. We are having a meeting this Tuesday, Nov 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Bridgewater Bay (3058 Driftwood Way, #4405) across Orange Blossom from the church. RSVP to Barbara Hoff at 269-1171 for gate code. All are welcome to attend to find out more information about this dynamic ministry!

We are at a table in the Commons this weekend! Please stop by and see what God is up to!
