1 Link between management and leadership style:


Leadership and management are not the identical themes. But they are essentially related, and compulsory. The managers task is to design, form and organize. The leaders task is to stimulate and inspire. There was a time when differences between these two exist. But in new era when information of people have become strong, and workers are not easily differentiated both these two terms are not apart easily. People have a sense towards their manger as to assign them a different purpose, and the manager must put his effort to form the worker to develop expertise, ability and stimulate outcomes. (Efere) The link or association b/w leadership and management is described below Manager govern, leader innovates Manger copies, leader originates Manager do retains, but the leader does developments Manger keeps eye on organizations and schemes, leader on people. Mangers believes on mechanism, leader motivates beliefs Manager has limited view, but the leader an expanded one. Mangers questions when and how, leader inquire why and what Manager looks at bottom side, but the leader at upper line Manager is a traditional soldier; leader is ones own soul Manager perform things right, leader performs right thing (Conflict-Management Style)

1.1.2 Impact of management and leadership style on strategic decisions:


Strategic decisions deal with entire surroundings in which the company works the whole assets and the persons who form the corporation and the line among the two. There is a big impact of management and leadership on strategic decision as we know that strategic decisions are taken on top level and is based on external environment and is very complex decisions. This type of decisions is taken to take the competitive edge on the competitors. (Michael Ison and Kerry Kempton, September 2007) The positive point is that in the management the managers prepare the goals and then achieve it effectively and efficiently. Leadership led the people in organized form to achieve the goals. Sometimes it put negative impact on strategic decisions. If the people and work are not organized than it put negative impact on decisions (Academy of Management Journal STYLE GUIDE FOR AUTHORS, 2008). Positive impact of management on strategic decisions: The positive point is that in the management is that the managers prepare the goals and then achieve it effectively and efficiently. Positive impact of leadership on strategic decisions: Well-mannered leadership led the people in organized form to achieve the goals. Negative impact of leadership on strategic decisions: If the people and work are not organized than it put negative impact on decisions. If there is grouping in the firm than it will be negative because worker do not obey the leaders. Negative impact of management on strategic decisions: If management is poorly done, means all the task are not managed properly than strategic decisions cannot be taken properly.

Leadership styles:
The selection of leadership styles incorporates with the choice of company. There are many available choices that can be considered while developing the company. (Sansom) 1. Servant leadership style: This one is introduced by Robert Greenleaf in the 1970s, explains a leader which is not officially renowned as such. When somebody, at any stage within an association, has the leading quality by fulfilling the needs of group, he is known as servant leader. This leadership is a type of selfgoverning leadership, as the whole team is involved in decision making. Supporters of it says to move forward in a world where standards are growing to be important and leaders attain control on the source of their morals and principles, it is an important way. Others say who follow this style can left them to be at last by the leaders who prefer other styles. This style can be helpful when there is an absence of leader so the whole team can finely complete the task by declaring any person as leader e.g. if the manager of the team is not available then the work is carried on by choosing any other person as the leader. 2. Transactional leadership This type begins with the theme that group members decide to follow their leader fully when they start their job. The term transaction means the company paying to workers for their job and obedience. Workers are punished by the leaders if not meet the standards properly. Due to its stress on short-term jobs it seems to be a kind of management. This type has limitations of inventive work, and knowledge-based, but a good options for different situations It's thought to be a "by the book" method in which the individual performs inside the instructions. This style is helpful for big, administrative organizations where everybody is eager to follow the management. Management Theories:
Contingency Theory: The Basic theory explains that when mangers take a decision, he must look into all prospects of the existing conditions and perform on that conditions that are important to condition at current. Mainly it is the methodology that has this depends. For example, the ongoing struggle to classify the top management or leadership type could now result that the top style depends on the condition. (Management Theories,roles,motivations and communication) Systems Theory The concept of this theory is that authors, instructors, advisers, etc. are serving managers to tackle the association from a wider viewpoint. Systems philosophy has carried a new viewpoint for managers to understand designs and actions in the office. They identify the several portions of the association, and, in specific, the interconnection of the portions, e.g., the synchronization of main management with its plans, working on industrial, controllers with labors, etc. This is a chief expansion. In the history, managers look into one part then the other one. The issue was that organizations had an excellent central management and good set of instructors but the department didnt coordinate all. (Olum)

type is best according to situation. When fast decision is needed, style to recommend? When the mangers require complete help of team? Should a leader be towards people or task orientation? These questions are supported by this theory to answer

This explains that leaders occupy several shared personality traits and uniqueness and leadership originates from these qualities Former traits concepts explore the theme that leadership is an native, natural value that you possess or not. Trait theory assist us classify some aspects that are supportive when leading team and also emerge as a widespread leadership method. Examples contain understanding, boldness, well decision-maker, and amiability. (Developing a leadership strategy )

Growth strategy which Tesco is perusing:

Tesco is perusing the strategy of increasing their sales because it is the largest retailer market in UK. Its capital is on 2nd number after wall mart. Their strategy is to boost up sales by increasing more customers in existing stores or new customer in new channel or new geographic. They provide services and products both to develop their growth strategy.

Impact of theories on growth strategy:

Management theories describe the method to handle the team and employs and implement big outcome on growth strategies. If Tesco took the decisions on the base of situation than it can more improve their sales? System theory also put great effect on growth strategy, in this all work is done in a systematic manner. Input used to process the data and then output is given. If the sales department does not work with system theory then they cannot achieve their goals of sales. Leadership strategies also put great effects on the growth strategy of Tesco. Contingency theory tells that decisions are taken on the base of situations. If the sales of the year are expected to boost more than there should be more stock about sales. Trait strategy tells that the person who is

leader should have all qualities to do all types of work. If he handles the work than it can boost the sales.

Below is the strategy that is best for Tesco.

1. Boost productivity Three questions are there to increase productivity, as the amount of skilled employees remains to propagate, it is becoming important for leaders and managers to discover new methods to calculate and boost productivity 3 questions are needed to be asked to workers. What are the duties you have to perform?

The reasons of selecting these two strategies are that if the employees are well educated and well-mannered than it would become easy to manage the work appropriately .If the questions are well organized than the solution can be easily find. These strategies are useful for future because

situational management strange can b change whenever manager wants due to change in employees and questions.

Proposal to Develop Leadership skills for Tescos future growth:


I as a new CEO of Tesco want to develop these skills to improve the growth. Here are leadership skills which is need to succeed as a leader: (Leadership Development) Leading By Example: This is one of the best methods for leading, diving in where required, lending a needy requirement, and to make sure that the task ones performed is obviously understand. Leading by Honesty: Company must show honesty in performing task. Dont confuse, dont pull. You should learn about the presentation of things in an honest way to your team members. Leading by loyalty: Company will be successful if it is leading by loyalty. To retain and attract more customers, loyalty is necessary. Leading by a Follower: To experience more, great leaders follows others too. To attain good points, company needs to follow the good parts of others. Leading by clear vision:

A right and accurate vision is required for your company and world. Thus a good vision gives leadership an initiative to start livings. Leading by values and morals: To take action with ethics and values supports the company to achieve everything with less effort. Leading by the maintaining a positive behavior: Positive attitude gives you the chance to look at the lighten surface of life. To lead a pleasant life of the company a positive attitude is required. Leading by implementing ultimate aims: Exact Info of final destination is required before mapping out a program to go there. For the improvement of leadership setting of appropriate aims is necessary. Leading by continues education: A continuous improvement is required to lead in best way. For the organization to be best, it has to continue its learning. Leading by Brand: The company brand must consist of efficient qualities, resulting that only recalling brand name, people may recall the company. Leadership abilities contains great education, expertise to take strong decisions founded on information, knowledge and skill, devotion rise, preserve positive approach, ethics and standards. The leadership abilities required in order to do willing profession. It will assist to identify the difficulty and will permit the work to show improved solutions. This will assist to categorize the possibilities for novelty. It even permits choosing the vital info from a source and implementing it for the solution of the current problem. Multitasking ability is one more feature of a victorious leadership in any area. Every worker wants to grip or execute various jobs jointly without bugs. Development of this skill is required for the successful completion of task by every worker. Good educations supports greatly specially in an aggressive world. Employers are mostly finding for persons who have especially in psychology, sociology, and arts. They make sure the selected candidate have enough qualification to help the company. In competitor world, good degrees have formed the basis for the employer who hires the candidates for the company. A good education is necessary for the worker and employee.
