Background
Sheldon Drake is the newly appointed CEO of Orbit Records, which was founded in London 20 years ago, and now has 12 large stores in the UK and five in Germany. The company grew up at a fast rate because it had a successful marketing strategy and, also mainly, thanks to the managerial skills of Costas Anapoulos, the companys General Manager for 10 years now.

Problems
Trixy Prescott is Personal Assistant to Costas Anapoulos. Trixy joined Orbit Records some six months ago, after the former PA resigned for personal reasons. At first, everything seemed all right. Trixys efficiency, professionalism and initiative were highly appreciated. However, more recently she has been having difficulties working with Costas. She has been seen weeping by some colleagues on different occasions, and shes phoned in ill twice this month. Sheldon has received the following memo. (ANNEX 1) After receiving the memo, Sheldon Drake decided to consult Costas Anapoulos personal file.

although there was an incident involving a female employee which caused concern. The woman accused Mr Anapoulos of sexual harassment. There was a court case, but he was found not guilty. The same day, Sheldon Drake had lunch in the staff canteen. o First, he spoke to a senior manager, Bob Dexter. (ANNEX 2) o Next he overheard a conversation between two female employees. (ANNEX 3)

Subject : Complaint about Costas Anapoulos

I would like to make a formal complaint about Costas Anapoulos unprofessional behaviour. 1. Mr Anapoulos has been putting pressure on me to have a personal relationship. When I showed no interest he became aggressive and unpleasant. He gave me too much work, set impossible deadlines, and criticised me in front of the other staff. 2. Mr Anapoulos gives orders to me rather than polite instructions. He never encourages or praises me. I think he would like to hire a new PA who would be more friendly to him. 3. He has frequent long lunches with female staff. He returns to the office late in the afternoon, then expects me to work overtime (unpaid) in the evening.

I feel that unless the situation improves, I shall be unable to continue working for the company.

ANNEX 2 BD : Bob Dexter, SD : Shedon Drake) BD : A bit of information now, Sheldon, I think you ought to know. Costas often has lunches with Laura Amandillo, the marketing and sales manager for DJ Sounds, our main competitor. SD : Laura Amandillo? Really? Thats something I didnt know. BD : Yes, and she often phones him at work. She has long, cosy chats with him. Ive no idea what they talk about. SD : Are you saying, you meanyou think theres something going on between them? You know BD : Im not saying anything. SD : You dont really like Costas, do you, Bob?

ANNEX 3 A : Bob Dexters awful to work for, you know. Id much prefer to work for Costas Anapoulos. B : Yeah, me too. A : Costas is so charming and nice to everyone. I think hes a great manager. B : Mmm. What I like about him, you know, he treats everyone the same. He speaks to everyone. Always smiling and joking. The canteen staff just love him, and the cleaners too. Do you think theres a chance his PA, Trixy, will move on Id love her job. A : Maybe, theyre not getting on very well, I hear. B : Well, you never know. Wonder why Bob Dexter doesnt like Costas. Do you think hes a bit jealous because Costas is so popular? A : Mmm, could be.
