Indoor pictures 3 - 6 feet For optimum indoor picture quality, take photos in a brightly lit room with a mixture of sunlight and lamp lighting. Outdoor pictures 3 ft - infinity For optimum outdoor picture quality, avoid intense sunlight behind all picture subjects. This will prevent sun spots in your pictures. Note: Always make sure that the sun or other bright light sources are behind the person taking the picture.

To take a picture
Frame your picture through the cameras view-finder. Hold the camera steady and press the shutter button. Continue holding the camera steady until you hear a beep. The beep indicates that a picture has been taken. The picture counter on the back of the camera signifies you how many pictures you have stored in your camera's memory. If you accidently leave the power to the camera on while it is not in use, it will enter into a Power Saving Mode (to conserve battery power). When the camera enters this mode, it will begin to beep until you either use it again or turn the power off.
To take a picture while the camera is in Power Saving Mode, compose your picture and press the shutter button. The camera will turn on and take the picture normally.

Using the self-timer
Your DSC Pro camera comes with an easy-to-use self-timer function. Use this function to capture group photos without having to exclude the photographer. It is recommended that you use a tripod unit with this feature. A tripod keeps the camera steady and level while taking the picture. Thus, ensuring that your pictures come out clear and sharp. A tripod mount has been placed on the bottom of the camera for your convenience. The mount can be used with a standard tripod unit
