Craft: Crochet Difficulty: Beginner Materials: Yarn Debbi Bliss Baby Cashmerino (55% merino wool, 33% microfiber, 12% cashmere; 125m/50gm; CYCA 3): 340047 acid green, 2 balls. Hook Sizes H/8 (5 mm) and G/7 (4.5 mm) Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge. Notions A tapestry needle Gauge: 17 hdc = 4 with smaller hook. Available Sizes: One size fits most Measurements: Approximately 18 in circumference, unstretched

Instructions: Flower: Rnd 1: Using larger hook, ch 2, work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in beg sc to join. Bill: Hold hat upside down with outside facing. Find end of last rnd of crown, and count 25 st to the left of it. Join yarn in the next st and, working with smaller hook and in front loop only, sc in next 29 st. turn. Row 2: ch 1 (does not count as st, as for crown), working in both loops for remainder of bill except where noted, sc in each sc across, turn. Hold 2 layers of the bill with ws facing each other. Insert hook through outside layer of bill at bottom right corner, and pull working loop through to the front of hat. Begin working in sc along right edge of bill, inserting hook through both layers of bill to work them together. Continue along top edge of bill, inserting hook in the ridge formed by the front loops of sts left available from row 6 of the bill. Continue along left side of bill, inserting hook through both layers as on the right edge. Working in the back loop only, continue in sc along the remaining bottom edge of hat, ending with a sl st in beg sc at bottom right edge of bill to join. End off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Thread tail in tapestry needle and sew the inside open edge of the bill to the inside of last row of crown. Weave in ends. Flower: With smaller hook, ch 3, work 8 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in beg hdc to join. First layer: (ch 5, sl st in front loop of next hdc) 7 times, ch 5, sl st in base of beg ch-5 to join. Second layer: sl st in back loop of 1st hdc, (ch 7, sl st in back loop of next hdc) 7 times, ch 7, sl st in base of beg ch-7 to join. End off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Use tapestry needle to sew flower to hat as desired. Weave in all ends.
