Ultra-Thin Video Wall Solutions for Mission Critical 24/7 Performance

Developed with the highest standards of performance and impact in mind, the MultiSync X462UN Video Wall Solution is another market leader from NEC. Loaded with advanced innovation and wall management features these displays deliver the highest levels of performance, backed by the respected service and support of NEC, a name you can trust. X462UN REFERENCE VIDEO WALL SOLUTION Its the ideal video wall installation product, Ultra-Thin, with EdgeComp Technology for total wall image uniformity, advanced OSD management features and DisplayPort connectivity. The MultiSync X462UN, is a 46 inch, 1366 x 768, ultra-narrow LCD display designed for professional digital signage environments, including lobbies, public venues, retail stores, transportation facilities and broadcasting. The new X462UN offers several improvements from the globally successful X461UN. The diverse input panel, including a new DisplayPort connection, allows full connectivity and maximum flexibility during product implementation. The X462UN also premieres EdgeComp technology, which adjusts zonal brightness uniformity for a steadier image across the entire

video wall. The X462UN also meets the standards of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) which controls the display through the LAN. Users who adhere to this protocol will experience easier use of LAN control on the X462UN. The X462UN maintains its predecessors ultra-narrow bezel, which allows for an image-to-image distance between two neighbouring X462UN displays of only 6.7mm. (7.3mm between contents). The X462UN can be deployed in matrices of up to 10x10. The barely discernible transition gap between displays ensures a homogenous picture across the wall. X461UNV VALUE VIDEO WALL SOLUTION The X461UNV ultra-narrow display is a lower cost version of the X462UN. In particular it does not include EdgeComp technology, but it is ideal for cost conscious customers with non-24/7 installations and those not requiring the high 700cd/m2 brightness levels the X462UN can reach.

GREATER IMPACT VIEWING CREATE VIRTUALLY BEZEL-LESS VIDEO WALLS AS LARGE AS 60 SQUARE METRES Our next generation Video Walls start with the most innovative new display on the market. The MultiSync X462UN can be used to build Video Walls as large as 60 square metres with virtually invisible bezels as small as 2.7mm and is loaded with features that make simple instant calibration and heat management, LAN servicing, easy mounting and alignment and much more, a reality.
Video Walls with as many as 100 displays covering 60 square metres are possible.

EDGECOMP UNIFORMITY CONTROL This unique NEC innovation greatly reduces the dark patches that normally occur to the left and right sides of a panel and are particularly noticeable in video wall set ups. EdgeComp correction feature operates by adjusting the brightness from the centre of the display while maintaining the level of brightness around the left and right edges. There are three brightness settings for the centre of the screen, as well as three types of brightness curves for even more control over the total image. USER AND FACTORY CALIBRATION Only perfect looking screens are able to communicate a strong and clear message. In order to secure perfect colour and brightness uniformity, MultiSync X462UN products are calibrated by the factory at 500 cd/m2. Furthermore the products are pre-run to make sure the calibration remains stable and the uniformity will not change after a few hours of operation. Depending on what colour temperature or brightness level is desired, the X462UN enables the user to do his own calibration.

Bezel width has been reduced drastically from one generation to the next to improve tiling performance and aesthetics.
No management means variance in temperature and image

Uniform heat Dissipation with NEC Heat Management

DESIGNED FOR THE LONG TERM ADVANCED HEAT MANAGEMENT AND SUPERIOR COMPONENTS Public displays emit a certain amount of heat during operation as not all energy is converted to light. While this is not a major concern in stand alone installations, it is an important consideration when building a video wall. Good ventilation is crucial because very often the temperatures rise from row to row. With NEC, the user can check the thermal status of each screen using the X462UNs integrated temperature sensors. Furthermore the user can not only activate the fans of the product but determine fan speed and temperature thresholds for their activation. This way the X462UN enables the user to secure the perfect operating environment with unparalleled longevity and reliability.

Calibration ensures the perfect image, independent of colour and brightness variations. Without Calibration With Calibration

Get more from your Display with NEC simple to install Option Boards. Slide into place and secure the two retaining screws.

HARDWARE CALIBRATION X Series displays can be hardware calibrated through LAN or RS232 thanks to the 10 bit internal Look Up table and NECs optional Display Wall Calibrator software.

Advantages
Ambient Light Sensor With this feature the brightness level is adjusted automatically, ensuring perfect brightness at all times avoiding uncomfortable brightness levels and reducing unnecessary power consumption. The ambient light sensor can be programmed by the user to perfectly adjust the sensor performance to the users needs. Option Slot The option slot not only brings the possibility to increase

the connectivity or power of the display with current and future add-ons, but is covered by a manufacturers matching warranty with the display. Hardware Calibration X Series displays are perfect to create matched videowalls or in smaller configurations, they reproduce media and images extremely accurately. Advertising agencies can draw on the benefits of the greater impact of large format displays and video walls, confident of colour accuracy.

Improved Connectivity
DisplayPort Lockable Connector that supports longer cables than DVI and HDMI meaning more freedom of placement of signal source. Ethernet LAN Control Enables alarm emails which notify a user of a problem. This minimises down time and is more convenient to use than RS232, because standard PCs have a network port and LAN cables can run too longer distances than RS232 cables.

DISPLAYPORT DisplayPort is a VESA defined digital interface for video and audio transmission, an alternative to DVI and also HDMI. DisplayPort is smaller than DVI (or Dsub) and can use longer cables than DVI and HDMI. DisplayPort offers more bandwidth than DVI or HDMI. Integrated little hooks prevent the plug from slipping out of its socket; a common problem of HDMI in professional installations.

ETHERNET CONTROL Besides control by RS232 interfaces, X Series models can also use ethernet. NEC popular PC Control software has been adapted to allow a host of network functions. In addition, the display can generate alarm emails in the unlikely event of a problem with the power supply, fans, overheating or the inverter.

Advantages
OSD Rotation No more bending your head when using the display in portrait orientation. Simple, but effective! Improved Scheduler A new feature that empowers the user to schedule operation times, source and brightness levels. This helps optimise energy saving and therefore minimises power consumption and potentially uncomfortable brightness levels. Copy Settings Function This feature is a real cost saver. The user can copy all settings from one display to another with an RS232 cable before mounting the screen, saving him the time to go from display to display to adjust the settings to the desired level. No PC is needed for this operation. Fan Speed Control Being able to determine the temperature threshold for fan activation helps optimise complicated and demanding installations in terms of operating temperature of the display which in turn secures reliability and longevity.
OSD ROTATION When X Series Displays are rotated between portrait and landscape mode, the user can also rotate the OSD panel depending upon the displays orientation allowing a more ergonomic user-friendly set-up.

COPY SETTINGS VIA RS232 DAISY CHAIN This feature can be used without a PC directly from the display. The copy settings function is a unique feature which is controlled through the OSD. The user selects the settings he would like to transfer to another display. This can be all settings or just selected ones. Data is then copied through a RS232 cable within a few seconds.

FAN SPEED CONTROL The user has full control over the fans of the display. He can determine when the displays are supposed to start and he can define the speed of the fans. When using the NEC built in PC the fans must be used. The noise is minimized to an inaudible level by using low fan speed.

IMPROVED SCHEDULER The user can now select the picture mode function with a choice of Highbright, Standard, Ambient 1 and Ambient 2. This enables the user to activate the ambient light sensor only at certain times. This feature can also work in a similar manner with an externally connected ambient light sensor.

TILE MATRIX (INTEGRATED SPLITTER) X Series Displays support up to 10 x 10 video wall configurations. Tile comp (bezel width compensation) is also supported together with support for up to 100 IDs. Therefore, 100 displays can be daisy chained with RS232 and addressed individually.

Advantages
Tile Matrix with 100 IDs The integrated splitter supports up to 10 x 10 video walls including 100 IDs. So the user can address each display individually via remote control or RS232 or LAN. Group ID / TileMatrix per Input The group ID feature allows the user to control clusters of displays in a video wall with one RS232 command. This advanced video wall feature allows for conveniently switching, for example, inputs during a stage presentation which would otherwise require expensive additional equipment. Input Naming Instead of naming the input, the user can actually use the name of the device such as Videocon, Xbox or whatever is connected to the input. This can be very convenient for displays used occasionally like a video-conference system where the user might wonder what input is the right one for the system or PC.

INPUT NAMING Instead of just having the default input names (VGA, DVI, etc.) the user can customise the name by up to eight characters to better match the source. BLURAY, XBOX360, HDDVD, CISCO, DIRECTTV, CAMERA1, NANNYCAM, etc. could be used.

THE NEC ADVANTAGE

QUICK INPUT CHANGE Some applications may require switching back and forth between several inputs. Especially video wall applications. Setting Quick allows the user to change input at very high speed. Changing time depends on input/signal. Example: DVI to VGA - at Normal mode : 2.1 sec - at Quick mode : 0.36 sec VGA to DVI - at Normal mode : 2.5 sec - at Quick mode : 0.48 sec

Advantages
Quick Input Change Avoids long switching times and black screens when switching between inputs. This can be convenient for video conference systems or video wall installations where long interruptions are not acceptable. User Defined Input Priority The user can define how the display should prioritise the signals it receives. E.g. Last Detect means the display will switch to any new signal it receives. Improved Screen Saver The improved screen saver gives the user more freedom to define how the content should be moved, avoiding image retention, minimising disruption and maximising the protective effect.
Example: As a security feature a shopping mall wants to send warning messages to the public display network in case of an emergency. All the user has to do is send the warning message. The display will automatically switch to the new signal without any further intervention. However, it will not switch back to the original signal, once the warning message disappears. With the new custom priority it is possible to define input priority. The emergency warning would be No1 and the standard signal No2. When the warning message is sent, the display switches to the warning message. As soon as the warning disappears, the display will go back to No2 priority input. Other signals that may be fed to the display will be ignored as long as there is a signal from a higher priority input.

USER DEFINED INPUT DETECT PRIORITY Custom Detect has been added to the conventional auto detecting function. NEC conventional (old) auto detect. FIRST DETECT : Displaying signal is lost change to the other signal LAST DETECT : New signal is input change to the new signal VIDEO DETECT : Video, DVD/HD, HDMI is higher priority than RGB signal. Users can now customize the priority of the input signal.
