Title:
DQ Modeling Of Induction Motor For Virtual Flux Measurement
Rajalakshmi Samaga.B.L Vittal.K.P Author: Sushma.P Issue date: 20 January, 2011

ABSTRACT: Three phase induction motors are continuing to remain as work horses in
industrial application. The accurate behavioral modeling of induction motor helps in designing controller for the machine and also useful detection in faults of machines. Almost all the faults in the induction motor affects the flux in the air gap. This flux can be measured virtually using DQmodel of induction motor by feeding current and voltage values extracted in real time and stored. In this paper, DQ model is developed in stator reference using MATLAb-SIMULINK platform and data acquisition system supported with LabVIEW is used to obtain motor terminal voltage and current signals which are useful in estimation of flux in an actual machine . Fault detection is a big problem now days. It is reported that no industrial case histories has correctly predicted the no. of broken rotor bars using methods available, i.e. vibration analysis, current signature analysis. The dynamic DQ model is developed in MATLAB SIMULINK to observe the spped, current , voltage and torque waveform. In order to estimate flux, the same model is developed in LabVIEW environment. DQ model is extensively used for control purpose as it converts sinusoidal quantities into DC quantities. In DQ model speed control can be done by controlling the flux and torque independently. In this paper three phase (abc) windings are transformed into 2 phase(d q 0)system. The motor can be developed by the expressions of all stator and rotor voltages i.e.

Vds , Vdr, Vqs, Vqr and speed and torque can be

The advantage in this model is that flux linkage can easily be calculated by the formulae, and the same wise for other flux linkages of rotor and stator.

Then it is implemented on hardware and simulated . LabVIEW software is used for data acquisition and measurement. By using runga kutta method they got the waveform for stator and rotor fluxes for induction motor. This model can be used to detect the fault by estimating the flux as flux is the primary parameter to get affected by any fault in air gap. Any asymmetry in the air gap rises to non uniformity in flux distribution and harmonics are induced in the stator currents. This model can also be used to study torque as torque also gets affected by any asymmetry in the machine.
