Dr. McKool
Room ReIlection

Mrs. Savur`s classroom is idealistic Ior any Iourth grader. The classroom has six
desks in Iour groups in the middle oI the classroom surrounded by books, posters, a coat
station and the white board. The room is spacious and gives the students room to move
around and interact with one another. Towards the back oI the classroom, there is the
alphabet hanging on the wall and underneath is seven posters that the students and
teacher made together about reading and writing. The posters read, 'Choosing Just the
Right Books, 'Writing About Reading, 'Reading Partners, 'Prompts For Thinking
and Speaking, 'Writers Gather Ideas by Thinking About: 'Choosing an Idea, and
'Developing an Idea. These posters are great Ior the student to reIer to when reading
and writing, I believe they are very beneIicial to the classroom.
Underneath the posters is the bookcase that spans the whole back wall. The
books are separated into baskets by reading level and placed into categories such as
science, social studies, chapter books, Iiction, nonIiction, and much more. To the right oI
the back wall lie the washing station and the coat closet. Above the coat closet is a shelI
that has a personal bin Ior each student`s books. Across the room on the leIt wall, there is
a rotating book bin that reads 'Good Books. Next to that is the math supplies section,
which allows Ior students to easily locate the materials they need. The room is colorIul
and inviting and Iocuses on the importance oI reading and writing by making books the
main component in the classroom.
The Iront oI the classroom houses Mrs. Savur`s desk, the white board and an area
where the students can sit on the rug and listen to Mrs. Savur read a book or teach a
lesson. Above the whiteboard is the American Ilag at TV set used to watch educational
videos. The calendar is also present at the Iront oI the classroom and posted on the
whiteboard is a list oI 'Today`s Assignments as well as, 'Mrs. Savur`s Class Schedule
which lets the children know what subjects they have and what time. Signs like,
'Respect, 'Caring, 'EIIort, 'Choices, 'Responsibility, and 'Honesty line the walls
as a constant reminder to the students what is expected oI them and how they can achieve
those characteristics. Mrs. Savur`s classroom is the perIect atmosphere Ior her Iourth
graders to learn, create, read, write and interact with one another. With and eclectic mix
oI interesting books, inIormative posters, and multiple materials Ior every subject, the
students have everything they need to learn to their highest potential.
