Obesity Problem in America, How is to Blame?
e are what we eat, there is one to blame but ourselves Ior how Iat we may be. Many
people would point Iingers at the Iast Iood industry, due to the Iact that they have so much
advertising. Fast Iood places such as McDonalds and endys are just doing their jobs, like a
clothing store they are just adverting there product. It`s not the Iast Iood places to blame but the
people consuming there product. 'Between 16 and 33 percent oI children and adolescents are
obese (Obesity in Children and Teens). Children as well as young adult are not being taught
healthy ways oI eating. American is taking the easy way out and making Iast Iood an everyday
thing. 'Every day about one quarter oI the U.S. population eats Iast Iood (Americans Are Obsessed
with Fast Food). e are the once to blame when it comes down to the obesity problem in America. It is up to us
iI we want to buy that big Mac.
America is not taking responsibility that they are the ounces to be blamed Ior being Iat. Yes, Iast Iood
places do advertise a lot. And they do lack on inIorming the crowed on how unhealthy their products may be. But
they are in no circumstance shoving the Iood down our drought. There is no dining it that they make there Iood
seem so delicious and a most want thing. e should try to inIorm ourselves to what is right Ior ourselves as well as
those children, which have no knowledge to what may and may not be health. People that work in Iast Iood
places, like many other people in America are just trying to make a living. The Iast Iood industry is a touch

completion, each Iast Iood place is trying to bring in more and more customers. And the only way to beat out there
competition and keep proIits up is to 'oIIer bigger and bigger portions (Brownlee pg 34).
Naturally parents are to blame as well, they don`t seem to pay attention to their children`s eating habits.
Families around America are making Iast Iood a daily think in their lives. Parents are Ieeding there kids poorly and
letting them 'sit in Iront oI the television or computer Ior hours at a time ( eintraub pg.42) . Parents are not
making user that when their kids get home that there is healthy Iood Ior them to eat, they are not sending them to
school with healthy Iood. It makes no sense to set blame to the Iood industry when parents are clearly not paying
attention to their kids and what they are eating. They are letting them be attacked by the advertisings they see on
TV, and they are leaving the job oI Ieeding their kids ' to a corporation that only cares about its proIits ( Gonalez
pg 47) .
In Iact it is up to us and us only to what we put in our mouths, no one makes those choose but use. It
makes no sense at all to sui the Iast Iood places Ior something that they bought. It would seem obvious that aIter the
sixth big mac they eat, the person might start to notice some diIIerents in their body and try to do something about
it. Meaning by going Ior a walk, making a better decision about what to eat Ior dinner that night. America has
Iound it easier to blame 'everything that happens to them, and all the better iI that someone has deep pockets
(Jordan pg 46). ' It was come to the point that America needed to see things more clearly and 'change their bad
habit and take charge oI their live (46) .
No one is to blame but you, America has a big problem and it`s about time we Iest up. Parents are not
taking charge oI their kids. They need to take care and provide healthy Iood Iorthem. Stop blame the Iood industry
Ior the reason your Iat, it`s up to the person to decide what they eat and not eat. Mc Donalds is not holding there
costumers down at gun point tell them to eat that juice hamburger. ake up and smell that big mac, or not.
