The reason of selecting this project is my personal experience of my school life. All I could
do in my school was to read the books and memorize the words without understanding their true objectives. Everyone there had a routine that never urged them to study with the keen interest and try to explore the hidden. That is why I decide to design a school that involves a student into it and he not just memorizes the words but learns the life and starts loving the learning process.

How education has started?

When the human being was created and sent to earth, he did not know anything. He needs guided him to know, how he can hunt for food and how due to fine he can survive through the hot summer and cold winter. So experience of life was the first education which a man has taken. As time passed those experiences have improved and laid the foundation of the present knowledge.

The word Education

The word education has been derived from the Latin words Educare, Educatum or
Educer. Education and educare mean to train, to bring up and to nourish while educare mean to lead out

Education is a life-long process commencing from the birth of the child and the
ending at the end of his life itself.it continues from The cradle to the grave.

Case Study 01
Introduction
The art of designing a new school is rooted in the analysis of past and present accomplishment. All new school now a day is produced by the visits of architecture and educationists to the existing school campuses. Spatially in my project as I am doing another branch of same school so it is necessary to visit the running campus which is in Lahore near johar town. The school is recognized as one of the best school in Pakistan and specially concern taken for the studies and the activities of the children.

Project Background
International school of choueifat was constructed about fifteen years ago. Since the very first day it is working successfully. The schools in choueifat are as follows KG1 KG2 GRADE1

Parking
Parking for 45 cars for teachers and visitors on the front of the site.

Main Entrance
Site has a main road and a side road around the area that links the neighborhood to the site. The campus has two main gates on the main roadside but the functioning gates are on the side of neighborhood houses.

Problem identification

By not using site properly there is a big problem in the school timing.
All the school children are entering and exiting from the same gate due to less width of the road and there is always a traffic jam. Visitors are not allowed to take their vehicles inside the school during the

school timing. There is no parking for buses for pick and drop the children. Same size of classroom is present for all the classes of all aged children. From
five years old to sixteen years there are a lot different activities and studies in the class but the class size are same for all of them. No platform for teachers is given on the front side of the class. No lockers space for children. In running campus hierarchy of circulation is not very much defined. More space is required in front of the service core having toilets, staircases, lifts etc. Library is placed on the first floor of the administration block. This placement

caused a major disturbance due to the void that is given between the floors for the sky light which is on the roof of the second floor. Entrance to library and examination immediately after the administration block
that produces a bottleneck in circulation flow. Examination hall is placed in the middle of the school building. It is on the first floor having the multi-functional area underneath.

Examination area does not have a separate washroom area and due to alloy sheet roofing of the floor, it is been maximum heated in the summers.

Rafael Arozarena High School
Location: La Orotava. Tenerife. Spain. Architects: Fernando Menis, Felipe Artengo Rufino, Jose Maria Rodriguez Pastrana. Client: Consejeria de Educacion, Cultura y Deportes del Gobierno de Canarias. Furniture: Rafael Hernndez Hernandez, Andres Pedreno Vega

Completion: 2004 Materials: Concrete

Introduction
Rafael Arozarena High School is basically a secondary school with a vision of using primary elements and it is considered to be one of the best designed schools in the world.

Design elements
The building has been mixed with pre-existing walls of the farming terraces, letting the land flow beneath the building and passing over in others, leaving the territory to flow under the building, leading to play areas or stay indoors.

Design features
The concrete walls are pigmented with colors that fade in accordance with the folds in the linear volumes and their proximity to the different rural and urban environments.

The whole blends in with the pre-existing walls of the farming terraces, where it rests on them at some points and passes over them at others, letting the land flow under the building and propitiating enclosed spaces for games or for people to gather.

The plot covers a site on the slopes of the Orotava valley which used to be used for growing the traditional single crops of the area.

Planning
The main access is from the south-East Street, the only
horizontal road of the network around the block, in order to provide the best access for students arriving by bus. It is also the road that links to the largest population of potential school children.

At

the northern end, at a much lower level, is the gymnasium or sports Centre, set into the hillside.

The concrete finish is softened with a degraded wash

of different tones to blend the building in with both the urban strata of La Orotava and the more rural nature of the south-western zones.
