Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan will be appearing before the Aboriginal Affairs committee along with department officials on Supplementary Estimates. Chronic Diseases Related to Aging continues to be the topic of study for the Health committee where medical and academic experts will appear to give testimony. Industry will hear testimony from senior department officials on the Supplementary Estimates. The Qubec Mining Association and an official from the Department of Natural Resoures in New Brunswick will appear at Natural Resources on the topic of Resource Development in Northern Canada. Minister of Transport Denis Lebel is set to appear before the Transport committee along Minister of State (Transport) Steven Fletcher, Department of Transport and Infrastructure Canada officials on the Supplementary Estimates. Public Accounts will hold an In Camera meeting for consideration of Committee Business

Featured Committees Senate



Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources will hold two meetings in Edmonton as part of its study on the current state and future of Canada's energy sector (including alternative energy). Social Affairs, Science and Technology will hear from deputy ministers from the departments of Health from Nova Scotia and Manitoba as part of its examination of the progress in implementing the 2004, 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care. The study on the present state of the domestic and international financial system continues at the Banking, Trade and Commerce committee where the Public Sector Pension Investment Board, Fonds de solidarit FTQ and GrowthWorks Capital Ltd. will provide testimony on Financing Growth Capital for SMEs. Aboriginal Peoples is holding an In Camera session to consider a draft report for its study on issues concerning First Nations Education. Air North, Northern Air Transport Association, and the Air Line Pilots Association are scheduled to appear at the Transport and Communications committee for its study on emerging issues related to the Canadian airline industry. A long list of witnesses from 17 departments will be available to answer questions at the National Finance committee as it reviews Bill C-13 (Budget Implementation Bill).

* Bill C-280, An Act to establish a National Strategy for Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) This bill would require the Minister of Health to convene a conference with the provincial and territorial ministers responsible for health for the purpose of establishing a national strategy to ensure clinical trials are started for the treatment of chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) and to estimate the funding necessary to undertake those clinical trials in Canada and to track individuals who have been treated for CCSVI.
