SCREAM 5: FROM WOODSBORO WITH LOVE (Part 1 of 2) By thorney33

Based on characters created by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven.

SCENE ONE: A COPYCATS TAIL The scene begins in a large house, well lit from the outside. There is deathly silence, until it is broken by the sound of a ringing telephone. Footsteps can be heard, and the phone is picked up. The call is answered by an attractive blonde in her early 20s, KIRBY REED (Hayden Panettiere). KIRBY Youve got Kirby. GHOSTFACE Not yet, I dont. Kirby nearly drops the phone in surprise. KIRBY Who is this? GHOSTFACE Dont tell me you dont remember me, Kirby. Its only been a year... KIRBY A year since they died. GHOSTFACE They? Dont make it so impersonal, Kirby. They were your friends. KIRBY Were being the important word. GHOSTFACE And what are you doing home alone on such a big night? KIRBY Im not home alone. My Dads in the next room. GHOSTFACE (laughing) Come on, Kirby. We both know that isnt true. I saw him leave well over an hour ago. Youre all alone...in that big house of yours. Ive been watching you for a while now. Kirby, looking at her watch, gasps. She begins to walk from room to room, checking the windows and doors.

CONTINUED: KIRBY I dont believe you. GHOSTFACE Oh come on, Kirby. Wheres the trust? Although I guess it was inevitable, trust issues. Especially after the number Charlie did on you... KIRBY (angry) Dont you dare say that name! GHOSTFACE What, you mean Charlie? KIRBY I said dont! GHOSTFACE Charlie! Charlie! Charlie! Charlie! KIRBY I swear if you say his name one more time... GHOSTFACE Youll what...kill me? Youll have to find me first...before I find you. Though it seems a bit unfair that I have a major advantage... KIRBY Which is? GHOSTFACE I can see you in the kitchen, Kirby.

2.

Gasping, Kirby hits an odd button on the kitchen bench, and moves out towards the living room. GHOSTFACE Do you want to play a game? KIRBY Im not in the mood. GHOSTFACE I dont care! Ive been waiting for this moment for months and I want to play a fucking game! Who knows, it might even help you live longer. (CONTINUED)

KIRBY (sighing) Fine...what kind of game? GHOSTFACE You guess where I am. Three guesses only! KIRBY And what happens if I guess wrong? GHOSTFACE Youve seen enough horror movies to know how that story ends. KIRBY And if I get it right? GHOSTFACE Then Ill give you a head start. All good horror movies need a chase scene...youll need to earn yours. You dont want to end up like Jenny Randall or Marnie Cooper, do you? Useless, pathetic victims who didnt even last through the first scene? KIRBY Fine. Ill play. GHOSTFACE Good choice. KIRBY (breathing deep, to herself) Ok...think. If I was a deranged psycho, where would I hide? GHOSTFACE No need to be so rude. Im right here, you know? KIRBY Youre in the closet in the hall. GHOSTFACE Is that your final answer? KIRBY Yes.

(CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: GHOSTFACE Open it.

4.

Trembling, Kirby steps forward and opens the closet. To her relief, there is nobody there. She slams the door closed. GHOSTFACE I wouldnt be so relieved if I were you! Thats one wasted guess, bitch! KIRBY Outside...on the front porch. GHOSTFACE Your move. Kirby moves forward and thrusts the door open, and leans out to check. There is nothing to be seen, except a few cars parked across the road. She quickly closes the door and leans against it, scared. GHOSTFACE One guess left...Id be making it a good one unless you want me to drive this knife right through that pretty little head of yours. A small noise comes from the kitchen, as a spoon is knocked to the ground. Kirby, frightened but more aware of the situation, grabs a baseball bat from near the closet and moves slowly towards the noise. KIRBY Youre in the kitchen. GHOSTFACE Wrong! Thats your last guess, bitch. KIRBY Liar... Kirby jumps into the kitchen, and as she does all of the lights in the house go out. After a short silence, the phone is dropped and all that can be heard are Kirbys screams. The screams cut short and there is nothing but silence. From the phone on the floor, Ghostfaces voice continues to ring out. GHOSTFACE (amused) Do you really think this can save you, Kirby? (CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: The silence continues. The whole house seems empty. GHOSTFACE Kirby? Id pick the phone back up, if I were you. Dont make this harder than it has to be. A cloaked hand reaches down and picks up the phone. GHOSTFACE Stop wasting time. You dont have much of it left. CALLER (in Ghostface voice) Kirby? Shes not here now, Im afraid. Would you like to leave a message? Outside in the bushes in the backyard, a fully costumed Ghostface stands up in shock, phone in hand. GHOSTFACE Huh? Who the fuck is this? CALLER The last person youre ever gonna see alive! GHOSTFACE Oh, stealing lines from the last one? Thats so original. CALLER Says you...the pathetic copycat, who has so little inspiration for killing that he has to steal somebody elses idea...somebody elses M.O. GHOSTFACE Fuck you! CALLER No, fuck you! Its charlatans like you who demean everything Ive ever worked for. All the blood Ive spilt...it leads to nothing but pretenders like you. GHOSTFACE (realising) Wait a minute. I get it...how stupid do you think I am, Kirby?

5.

CONTINUED: CALLER I already told you, Im not Kirby. I wont warn you again. GHOSTFACE Nice try, bitch. Get yourself a voice changer and try to fuck with me, hey? Well, Ive got the power here...Ive got the costume...and Ive got the fucking knife! No more stuffing around.

6.

Ghostface thrusts his phone in his cloak, and runs towards the house with knife brandished. Just as he is at the back door, the curtains fly open. Kirby is thrust upon the glass, screaming. Ghostface jumps back in surprise as a second Ghostface appears behind her, knife covered in Kirbys blood. She falls to the floor and lays motionless, blood pouring out from her chest. GHOSTFACE (shocked, scared) Holy shit! Ghostface turns and flees, jumping the fence into the next backyard, and peering back over. Kirbys body remains, but the door is open and the second Ghostface is gone. He makes his way to the front of the house, and after checking that the coast is clear, runs over to one of the cars on the other side of the road and jumps into the front seat. Fumbling with his keys, he rips off his mask to reveal a male in his mid-40s, JERRY ANDERSON (Robert Knepper). He starts the car, and looks up to see Ghostface standing about 20 yards in front of the car, slowly walking towards him. JERRY (gripping wheel, revving car) Looks like roles have been reversed, Ghostface. Ill play the fucking hero instead. GHOSTFACE (in a highly familiar voice) Now! JERRY Huh? From the backseat, a figure rises and lashes out at Jerry, who begins to convulse and drops down on the steering wheel unconscious, making it go off. The figure quickly checks the mans pulse and grabs the car keys before kicking her way out of the car and stretching herself out. It is DEPUTY JUDY HICKS (Marley Shelton). (CONTINUED)

JUDY Thank god for that. I thought I was going to be stuck in that position forever. Ghostface approaches her, and takes off his mask, revealing SHERIFF DEWEY RILEY (David Arquette). DEWEY The only position youll be stuck in is as my right hand gal. Nicely handled, Deputy. JUDY You didnt handle it too badly yourself, Sheriff. DEWEY I should be able to by now...thats the fifth one thats tried to get Kirby in the past year. JUDY And maybe itll be the last? DEWEY They never seem to stop, Judy. No matter how much we want them to. JUDY You could talk to her again, you know. DEWEY About moving? You know how stubborn she is. Id be better off not even saying anything at all. JUDY I dont know, Sheriff. You have a way with words when you really need to use them. Dewey, exhausted, falls down onto the side of the road and sits. Looking up at the house, he grimaces. DEWEY I just wish there was a way that we could bring some peace into that poor girls life.

(CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: JUDY We just did, Dewey. Listen...nothing but silence. Complete peace and quiet. Dewey smiles and nods, then realises. DEWEY Peace and quiet? Jesus!

8.

He pulls out his gun and runs over to the car. Jerry is gone. Hitting the top of the car in anger, he turns to Judy, who has her gun out almost instantly. JUDY I...I gave him almost full charge! He should have been out for an hour. DEWEY Good to see Ive learned from past mistakes...he wont have gone far. You take that side, Ill take this one. JUDY (nods) Got it, Sheriff. Judy runs to the other side of the road and begins to check the front yards for Jerry. Dewey begins the same task, but comes up empty. Suddenly, he hears a noise coming from the bushes a few houses up. He signals to Judy to follow him, and she quietly trots across the road. The two approach the bush, when a large cat jumps out and scares them. DEWEY Jesus! From behind Judy, Jerry runs up, knife raised and poised to strike the killing blow. Just as he is about to kill her, his phone suddenly rings in his cloak pocket. Judy is fast enough to spin around and shoot him three times, right in the head. He falls to the ground dead, as Dewey spins around, shocked. Back in the house, Kirby drops the phone onto the floor, redial button still shining, and picks up the knife next to it. She smirks as she begins to seductively lick the corn syrup off the weapon. KIRBY (highly suggestively) Amateur... END SCENE.

SCENE TWO: WELCOME TO WOODSBORO The scene opens at night with a bus driving through the countryside, past a sign that reads Woodsboro - 10 miles. Inside the bus, a class of psychology students are eagerly chattering about the weekend ahead. The middle-aged bus driver (Harry Hamlin) is sitting up front with PROFESSOR STEWART WILLIAMS (Jim Rash), a slight and bespectacled man nervously looking through his itinerary. Behind the two sit best friends MICHELLE BLAKE (Kay Panabaker), a pretty black haired girl, and VANESSA NOEL (Nina Dobrev), an attractive brunette on exchange from Mauritius. One row further back, the slight but confident ADAM CARROLL (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Jamaican-born DANIEL GAYLE (Corbin Bleu) sit flipping through a pamphlet for the weekend. On the other side, TONY SINGH (Danny Pudi) sits, leaning in trying to partake in their conversation. Behind Tony sits STEVE TAYLOR (Todd Lasance), a harsh looking young man, sneakily trying to light a cigarette. Opposite him sits CHERIE STUBBS (Elisha Cuthbert), an attractive blonde with headphones in. ADAM (Reading the pamphlet) The Ultimate Woodsboro Experience. Spend a weekend in the town where the infamous Stab franchise began... TONY Oh, man! ADAM ...with one of the survivors themselves. See you here, love Kirby. DANIEL Kirby? ADAM Yeah, Kirby Reed. Remember? The girl who survived the last time a few years back? DANIEL She survived? Didnt she get stabbed by that crazy Charlie fucker? TONY And left for dead, bleeding outside her house? I mean, logically, if the wounds didnt kill her, then (MORE) (CONTINUED)

TONY (contd) surely hypothermia...it was in winter...or even a range of infections...or... ADAM Shut up, Tony! DANIEL Hmm. Still seems a little dodgy, though. TONY Yeah. Im not buying it. Ive seen all the Stab movies. You dont survive something like that unless theres something bigger at play. ADAM (rolling eyes) Yeah, well Im sure she faked her death so she can kill us all when we get there! Adam and Daniel laugh, while Tony looks nunplussed. At the front of the bus, Williams turns around, eyes sparkling. WILLIAMS Remember boys, this is a weekend to study the minds of these psychopaths. Not some silly horror movie field trip, ok? Nobody is going to die...if we all work to our optimum! A loud groan comes from everyone on the bus, and Williams scowls as he turns to the front once again. Adam fingers the picture of Kirby on the pamphlet. ADAM (whispers) Spend a weekend...love Kirby...mmm...fuck yeah. Michelle and Vanessa turn around, smiling, and lean over the chair. Tony seems to lean forward more at the sight of Vanessa. VANESSA (thick French accent) Kirby? Who is this?

TONY (giddily) Oh, our tour guide for the weekend. Survivor of the last murder spree in Woodsboro. Daughter of Suzanne Reed and Phillip Reed, both born and raised in Woodsboro themselves. Blonde hair, blue eyes, approximately 174 centimeters tall... STEVE Overdoing it, freak. Cherie takes out her headphones and leans over the chair. Adam takes the chance to sneak a peek down her top, something which Michelle notices, and smacks him over the head. ADAM Hey! MICHELLE Eyes on the road, please. CHERIE I hope this town is as scary as they say it is. I mean, the Stab movies are pretty messed up. Until the fourth one, anyway. After that they get stupid and repetitive. TONY Thats the problem with horror movies. After a while, all the conventions are so ingrained that they become... DANIEL (smiling) Predicatable. TONY Exactly. You can see everything coming a mile off. STEVE Helps if you have four eyes... CHERIE Shut it, Steve.

This has horror staple written all over it. VANESSA Staple? Where is paper? ADAM (giggling) Dont worry, Vanessa. Just wait...and pray. MICHELLE For what? ADAM Mercy. The group pauses, and waits. Nothing happens, and Michelle laughs in relief. DANIEL Yeah, I didnt think so. ADAM Disappointing.

Suddenly, there is a loud bang from the front of the bus, and smoke begins to pour from under the hood. Michelle screams, and jumps onto Vanessas lap. The bus slowly comes to a stop on the side of the road. STEVE Damn. ADAM Shit. DANIEL Thats whack. They all laugh, apart from Michelle who continues to look terrified. The bus driver stands, annoyed. BUS DRIVER Sorry folks, think the engine has over-heated. Damn fan belts are dodgy in the old 92s. Let me go out and have a look. WILLIAMS Are you sure thats a good idea? BUS DRIVER You forget, Williams, that we are still miles out of Woodsboro. No killer can gut me here! The students all laugh, besides Michelle. He turns the interior lights and headlights off, and straps a small flashlight to his head. MICHELLE (terrified) What are you doing? Put the lights back on! BUS DRIVER And what, run the batteries down while I fix her...are you crazy? This will do me fine...and youre all big boys and girls. Consider this a preview for your long week ahead. The bus driver exits, laughing. He is joined in this laughter by the boys and Cherie. The hood of the bus is lifted, hiding the view of the bus driver from the students. Steve leans over to Tony, and pulls out his iPhone.

CONTINUED: STEVE Hey Tony...wanna play a game? TONY No...leave me alone, Steve. STEVE What about you, Cherie? Up for a bit of fun? CHERIE Ok. What kind of game are we talking? STEVE (in Ghostface voice on iPhone) Whats your favourite scary movie? Michelle and Vanessa scream, and the boys laugh. ADAM Relax, ladies. Its just an iPhone app. Nothing to be afraid of...until you get your monthly bill. WILLIAMS Settle down back there! Hopefully hes done soon and were back on the road...were meant to meet Ms. Reed in town in twenty minutes!

14.

There is a moment of silence, and people drift to their own devices. Vanessa gets up and heads to the back of the bus, taking her phone out of her bag. She has a voice message, and decides to check it. VOICE-MAIL (in Ghostface voice) Bonjour, Vanessa. Has anybody ever told you how pretty you are? I bet youve come first in heaps of beauty contests. Well, youve come first in my contest. And your prize? How does a quick and painless death sound? Well, trust me...youve come to the wrong place for that. Ill be seeing you soon, mon cher. The message end, and Vanessa looks more confused than scared. Shrugging, she puts her phone back and sits back down. They seem to be discussing what they would have done if they were in Woodsboro for the murders. (CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: ADAM All Im saying is that I would have been smarter to G-T-F-Oed out of there, you know what I mean? TONY You do realise that G-T-F-Oed out would equate to get the fuck out out, which makes little to no grammatical sense? STEVE Oh, god! Shut up, nerd. MICHELLE (to Vanessa) Who was that, darl? VANESSA I dont know, I couldnt understand the message. Ill show you later, yeah? MICHELLE Okies. ADAM Well, I did a quiz on FB about this once, and it had me pegged as dying second in a horror flick. Can you believe that?! Me, second! Seriously, if I couldnt outlast most of you useless fuckers, then I wouldnt deserve to live, anyway. TONY (glum) The smart guy never seems to live. Hes cannon fodder after he explains the rules. STEVE Smart guy? Dont you mean the geek? CHERIE Shut up, likely killer. They all laugh, except Steve who looks angry. DANIEL Well, we all know what would happen to me. They all laugh, including Steve.

The students look to the front of the bus, and the hood is indeed being lowered. However, there is no sign of the bus driver or his light. MICHELLE What the hell? CHERIE Where is he? Whered he go? ADAM Lazy fucker. You just cant find good public transport workers nowadays, I tells ya. CHERIE Shut up, Adam. The bickering is interrupted by the sound of steel on steel; presumably that of a knife on the back of the bus. Cherie, Tony, Vanessa and Michelle scream, and move towards the front of the bus. Tony ends up right next to Vanessa, and smiles in spite of the situation. VANESSA What...what was that? MICHELLE (hyperventilating) Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God... Williams gets up and pulls the lever, but the door doesnt close. He goes to close it manually, but a dark figure leaps in and pulls him, screaming, out of the bus and into the dark. Everybody screams, bar Daniel, who jumps out of his seat and out of the door after Williams. DANIEL (yelling) Professor? Professor? CHERIE Daniel, come back! TONY Remember the rules! Two bloodcurdling screams come from outside the bus. Everybody leans up against the windows, but it is too dark to see what is happening. Suddenly, a bloody Daniel runs up to the bus, screaming. He hits the window, and as his screams fall short and he falls to the ground, he points towards the front of the bus. Everybody stops yelling, and comically turn to the front of the bus in one motion. Ghostface stands there, knife in hand. He pulls the door lever, and miraculously, it now works and the door closes. Michelle faints, everybody screams, as Ghostface approaches. ADAM (shielding everyone else) Go out the back of the bus. Hurry. And somebody grab Michelle! Steve pushes past everyone, and tries to open to emergency door, but it seems to be jammed. Tony and Vanessa grab Michelle and struggle to shift her waking form to the back of the bus. The killer is getting closer and closer, until Adam has no choice but to tackle forwards. The two grapple, and Adam seems to have the killer at bay, though knife is still in their hand, until a laugh outside the bus stops them. It is the bus driver, with Daniel and Williams in toe, laughing their hardest. Adam and the rest stare in shock, Adam on top of Ghostface. BUS DRIVER Gets them everytime! Well played, lads. Welcome to the community, everyone. Im Phillip Reed. TONY The Phillip Reed?

Adam looks down at Ghostface and grins. ADAM While I have you here...Ive always wanted to do this. Adam begins to peel the mask off. ADAM (in Shaggy voice from Scooby Doo) You would have gotten away with it too, if it wasnt for this meddling kid. Ghostface is revealed as Kirby, who smiles dazzingly up at Adam. He melts off her in disbelief, with a massive smile plastered all over his face. KIRBY Welcome to Woodsboro...itll be a Scream. END SCENE.

19.

SCENE THREE: WINDOW PAIN The scene begins with the bus entering a dark and empty Woodsboro, with only the occasional house lit up. Several poignant landmarks are driven by, namely the Prescott house and the school, which the students look at with interest as they pass. The bus eventually pulls up to two houses that, in comparison to the rest of the town, seem well looked after. They are the old houses of Jill Roberts and Olivia Morris, from Scream 4. The bus pulls up outside, doors open, and the group gets out. Kirby pulls her car up behind the bus, and gets out too. TONY Wow. This is it. Ground-zero. DANIEL It is pretty cool, Ill give you that. ADAM Not quite so cool without the nice overcoat of blood on the walls. Kirby approaches the boys, but Adam does not notice. ADAM All it needs is some gizzards here, a scalp of some blonde hussy there, and wed be... DANIEL Adam, shut up. Adam whirls around and notices Kirby staring at him. He blushes furiously. ADAM Im sorry, I didnt mean to... KIRBY (sharply) Its fine, honestly. Its been two years...Im over it. Kirby walks away and positions herself at the front of the group. DANIEL Over it...sure.

20.

At this, the boys all smirk to themselves. Tony eyes off Vanessa hungrily, while Steve gives Michelle a sharp smack on the backside. She yelps, and the laughs continue. Cherie makes a face, not impressed by Steves behaviour. WILLIAMS (clearing throat) On second thought, Ms. Reed, I think it might be best if we split up the genders for the weekend. You know, so we can focus on the study ahead of us. KIRBY Whatever you say. WILLIAMS Very good. Steve, Tony, Daniel, Adam...you boys take the house on the left. He indicates to Jill Roberts old residence. WILLIAMS And girls, you take the one on the right. He indicates to Olivia Morris old residence. Despite some grumbling, particuarly from Steve, the groups disperse and move towards their respective houses, bags in hand. Williams grabs his bag and follows the girls towards the Morris house. CHERIE I thought you said we were splitting up the genders? WILLIAMS (deviously) Of course, but even I have seen the Stab movies. I think we know who needs more protection out of the groups, hmm? Like the actual Kirby Reed? KIRBY Apparently. In the flesh. TONY Do you mind if I ask you a question? KIRBY Shoot. TONY Why are you still in this town...after everything that happened here, why wouldnt you want to leave? From behind Tony, Daniel approaches, scaring him. DANIEL Youll have to excuse my friend. What he lacks in social skills he makes up for in the company he chooses to hang with. Im Daniel. KIRBY Kirby...charmed. TONY I asked a question... DANIEL (laughing) And this is Tony. Daniel walks towards the fridge, and is disappointed to find it empty. He closes the door, revealing Steve standing behind it. Daniel jumps, and Steve laughs. STEVE Honestly, Dan, you didnt see that coming? As we were saying on the bus, this shit should be predictable. Youre gonna need your wits about you if you wanna survive this weekend. DANIEL Survive? Little melodramatic, dont you think? STEVE Just trying to add some excitement to this trip, man. Trust me, itll be as boring as bat shit. Like Williams would take us on a trip thatd turn out fun. DANIEL I dunno...I reckon itll be cool. STEVE Pfft, you would. Always have to see the bright side of everything! I only came for one reason - to get into Michelles pants. STEVE Shit, what was that. Adam? DANIEL Tony? Damn...wait here. Daniel approaches the door, which is now definitely shaking. Steve takes a few more steps back, and backs into the counter, which makes him fall to the ground cursing. Daniel creeps up to the door, and swings it open. It is Tony, who yells in shock, as does Daniel, in turn Steve does as well. Tony nearly drops the bottle of Vodka he has in his hands. DANIEL (laughing) Fuck, Ton! Howd you even get down there, man? TONY My little secret...look what I found. Courtesy of the late Roberts family. Steve runs over and grabs the bottle out of Vodka out of Tonys hands, knocking him over in the process. Tony curses as Daniel helps him up. STEVE Boys, weve hit the motherload. What do you say we head over to the girls and share it around, if you catch my drift.

TONY Regardless, I found it, so I get to say what we do with it. And I vote take it to the girls. Daniel? DANIEL Im in. STEVE This is so perfect. Michelle runs back and sits down, and Cherie starts the movie again. ADAM Who was that? Was it Kirby? MICHELLE Yep. ADAM (eagerly) Sweet. Did she ask about me? She didnt say anything about me, did she? CHERIE Shh!

Adam shuts his mouth, and leans back on the couch. Just as the killer is about to kill the blonde actress, the doorbell rings again. The group lets out a groan of disgust. Adam jumps up to get the door. He opens it without hesitation, revealing Steve, Daniel and Tony proudly showing off their bottle of vodka. TONY Special delivery for three good looking girls. DANIEL Sign here for a good time, please. ADAM (grabbing bottle) The boys have come through! The boys have come through! The next minute is taken up by a montage of the viewing and drinking session, with everybody (bar Michelle, whom Steve teases constantly) having a good time, getting drunk. The montage ends with the reveal of the Stab 8 killer, a skinny brunette who wanted fame and fortune. The credits roll, and Michelle turns the lights back on straight away. VANESSA She wanted to be famous...really? DANIEL Yeah...seems a little soft when you think about the motives in the other film. CHERIE I dont know. Id kill to be famous. TONY (drunk) Forget that...if you look at her fiscal structure...structure...its hugely unlikely that she would have been able to have committed... EVERYBODY Shut up, Tony. Suddenly, the lights flick off and on again, and Michelle screams. It is Professor Williams, standing at the entrance to the room in his flowery pajamas.

WILLIAMS Alright, everyone...youve had your fun. But its time to hit the hay...tomorrow will be a huge day! Full of psychological significance! The groups complains under their breath, but they do disperse. Steve gives Michelle a kiss and a touch on the backside as he leaves out the front door with Adam and Daniel. Tony drunkenly approaches Vanessa, who is going towards the stairs, waving goodbye to the boys. TONY (slurring) Vaness...can I talk to you...real quick? VANESSA Maybe in the morning, Tony? I really need to get some sleep...we have an early start in the morning, yes? TONY I guess. Vanessa winks and walks back upstairs. Tony looks crestfallen, and walks out and closes the door. Scene cuts to Vanessa, inside the upstairs bathroom by herself, brushing her teeth. There are several dramatic shots, both inside and outside the house, which indicate the presence of somebody else besides Vanessa. Humming to herself, she walks back to her bedroom, which has a small sign which reads Olivia on the front of it. Once inside, Vanessa takes off her top, to get into her pajamas, when there is a sound at the window. Vanessa gasps as another sound occurs; somebody is throwing rocks at the window. Vanessa cautiously approaches, and opens the heavy wooden window, and leans out. It is Tony, below on the grass, still swaying from the heavy night of drinking. TONY But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Vanessa is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill... VANESSA (confused) What?

Tony goes to speak again, but Vanessa has already closed the window. She giggles to herself again, and looks back outside longingly. She plays with her hair dreamily, and begins to pull on here pajamas, when her phone rings. The Caller ID shows Private. She answers. VANESSA Bonjour? CALLER (in Ghostface voice) Hello, Vanessa. CALLER Well, in the play...Romeo dies first. Vanessa, beginning to feel afraid, looks out of the window. There is no sign of Tony. CALLER But I guess that even classics can be rewritten. Parts recast. New scenes added in. Old scenes cut out. I dont think this new pairing is going to make it as far as the original lovers, do you? VANESSA Who are you? CALLER The question you should be asking is...where am I? VANESSA Merde! Vanessa runs to the door, and opens it. She hesitates at the door when the caller says... VANESSA Why...why not? CALLER Because Im standing right behind the door. Vanessa, now in tears, slowly builds up the courage to peer out the door. The corridor and top of the stairs is all empty, and appears safe. She puts the phone to her head, but the caller has hung up. Vanessa breaths a sigh of relief, and slowly returns to her room. She closes the door behind her. As she backs into the room, a stone hits the window. She jumps in fright, but then puts two and two together and smiles. She walks back to the window, opens it with some difficulty, and leans out. VANESSA (joyfully) Tony! Again, there is nobody there. Vanessa looks confused. VANESSA Tony? From behind Vanessa, we see the closet door slowly swing open, and Ghostface steps out. The killer slowly approaches Vanessa from behind, who is leaning out further to see into the darkness. Tension builds as Ghostface is now right behind her. Silence. Vanessa begins to back away from the window when Ghostface reaches up and brutally slams the window down on Vanessa, nearly crushing her neck. Vanessa tries to scream, but her voice-box has been crushed. She throws her arms and legs around in desperation but is too immobile due to her situation. The killer quickly raises the window and brings it down again, rendering Vanessa to the brink of death. Finally, he brings it down once more, breaking her neck with an audible SNAP! Hardly a sound is made, besides a whimper, as this happens, with her neck cushioning the window. Her eyes roll back into her head, and blood starts dripping from her mouth. Ghostface opens the window fully, and lifts her body up, admiring her beauty for one last time, before rolling her body out of the window. She falls to the ground almost without sound, as graceful in death as she was in life. END SCENE.

SCENE FOUR: CATCH A BREAK(FAST) The scene begins in the morning following Vanessas death. Juxtaposing the horrifying scene seconds earlier, Sunshine by Gabrielle is playing, with the scene beginning in Michelle and Cheries room. Michelle is the first to rise; and she opens up the curtains to reveal a bright sunny morning, humming to herself and dancing happily. The light wakes up Cherie. MICHELLE Morning, sunshine! CHERIE (hair messy, grumpy) Ugh. MICHELLE (excitedly) Big day today! You know, I didnt even want to come on this trip, but its kind of exciting, isnt it? Well, especially now its bright outside. Its not as though I was scared or anything, but I kept hearing things in the night. I think thats just because I wasnt in my own... CHERIE (snapping) Look, just dont talk to me until Ive at least showered and had a coffee, OK?! Ive got a killer headache... MICHELLE Oh, fine. Not a morning person, I see. Cherie grabs her toiletries, and heads to the shower. Michelle, still in her pajamas, exits the room and runs upstairs to wake Vanessa. She slows slightly when she gets to the door, tension builds, and she enters the room. Michelle gasps - Vanessa isnt there, and all of her possessions are gone. The bed is immaculately made, and the room appears as though nobody has ever been there. The window is clean, but is open. MICHELLE (loudly, concerned) Hello? Vanessa?

She looks across to the boys house, and sees Daniel staring at her from the opposing window. Michelle jumps; Daniel smiles, waves, and retreats. Michelle closes the window, which seems to be fine, and retreats back downstairs. She runs into the kitchen and bumps into Professor Williams, who is making breakfast. He turns around in surprise, brandishing a big kitchen knife. Michelle screams and falls to the ground. WILLIAMS Michelle! Good morning. Im glad to see you are enthusiastic for the day ahead! MICHELLE Mr...Vanessa...Room...Gone...Bags...Window... WILLIAMS Oh, silly me. Sorry, my dear. I should have realised that was the problem! MICHELLE The problem? Vanessa is gone! WILLIAMS (sarcastically) Yes, very perceptive indeed. MICHELLE He...he...he must have got her, Professor. We have to get out of here! WILLIAMS We dont need to do anything of the sort! MICHELLE No...you dont understand! WILLIAMS Im afraid it is you that doesnt understand, Michelle. I just wanted to let you know that my mother has been taken ill...Im taking the next bus home, it leaves early in the morning so Im afraid I will have to miss you all to say goodbye. Im very sorry! I hope you enjoy the weekend...and tell Michelle that I love her! The message ends. Michelle, looking sad but no longer shocked, hands back the phone to Williams. MICHELLE Oh. I see...thanks, Professor. WILLIAMS Please, Michelle. Call me Stewart. Professor Williams is my father! Actually...no, hes in plumbing, but still. Smile! You know what they say, with every friend you lose, you have a chance to make a new one! Williams turns away grinning, brandishing his knife, and stabs through a pound of bacon to cook for breakfast. Gradually the rest of the crew come in, the boys lured surely by the smell of bacon. Tony looks decidedly worse for wear, sporting comically large sunglasses. The scene resumes with Steve sitting at the table, somewhat crudely, next to Michelle. STEVE (sniffing) Mmmmm. Nothing like the smell of cooking flesh in the morning to get the juices flowing. Steve winks at Michelle. Cherie and Daniel grimace.

Kirbys car pulls up opposite the Morris house, and Daniel begins to walk back. DANIEL Shes fine, man. Stress less...youll live longer. Tony slowly drags himself up, and walks towards the Morris house. Taking out his phone, he calls Vanessa as he walks. He does not notice as he walks past, but in a bush near the front steps her phones screen lights up, and the phone begins to vibrate. It rings out, and he shrugs, walking into the house. Everyone crowds around the table, when the door flies open again and Kirby walks in. Dressed in professional clothes, there is a look of determination and control about her. Everyone is impressed, including Adam, who chokes on some bacon and begins to cough loudly. Kirby notices this and blushes, and Cherie and Steve laugh. KIRBY Morning, everyone. I trust that you all enjoyed the night. Are you all ready to begin the true Woodsboro experience? The group all respond in their own version of yes. Adam is caught a little speechless, and goes red. It happened after the first murders too, but after a while people came back. All town folk generally do. I think the murders in Windsor College and then L.A. made people realise that the murders werent Woodsboro. The town wasnt the cause of what happened. But after they came back, I think people just gave up hope and left. CHERIE Like, everybody? KIRBY Yep. Its a ghost town now. The only permanent residents we have are either really young, people who come looking to find some action, or whatever. And the really old, who cant get enough of the low real estate prices for their retirement. CHERIE And why did you stay? KIRBY I have my reasons. My parents for one; parent, now. Get a real insight into the education and upbringing of future mass murderers. CHERIE You should see what we get taught. The two girls share a laugh, and walk together in animated conversation. Adam and Tony walk behind the two, Tony taking out his small video camera and hitting a few settings. Steve and Daniel are talking to the left, with Michelle tagging a little behind Steve. TONY (turning camera onto Adam) Pretty cool, huh? The actual town where the original murders took place. The car pulls up on the side of the road, and Kirby signals the group to stay back. She approaches the car. Dewey is driving, with Judy Hicks in the passenger seat. Michelle screams, and after checking that there is nobody behind the heavy doors, everyone laughs. KIRBY Welcome to Woodsboro High. The group walk into the front administration area. It is an impressive school, and despite its abandonment, it has clearly been spruced up for the occasion. There is a collection of shots from inside the school, showing how empty the school is, and how eerie this effect is. The room is dark, lit only but a few candles on the front desk. There is intrigued silence as the group enters and walks towards them. The candles create an eerie effect, with shadows on the faces of the group. Next to the candles are two photographs. One is of Billy Loomis, and the other is of Stu Macher. Both photos seem to be taken of the boys when they were at the school. Kirby lights some more candles, unbeknownst to the students. She places them on the desk behind the picture, and it reveals a school photo of a young Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. ADAM Wow... DANIEL Amazing. KIRBY Billy Loomis...Stu Macher. Before they were killers, they were just like any of you. Friends, classmates, family...lovers. These pictures represent how madness can spawn from even the most innocent of beginnings. Kirby lights some more candles and places them on the desk behind the picture, and it reveals a collation of childhood images of Billy and Stu. Many of the images show them in a group with more teenagers, one clearly a young Sidney, the others presumably Randy and Tatum. There are even a few pictures of Stu and Casey. Michelle instinctively puts her hand over her mouth to silence herself, though tears still fall down her face. Whoever has entered the bathroom moves slowly and silently. Michelle sees shoes underneath the cubicle, and they come to a stop right outside where she sits. She muffles her mouth harder, frightened. The scene cuts back to Cherie, who is now upstairs and still walking around calling for Michelle. She looks nervous. She opens a few rooms and finds nothing but a few items which fall out at her and frighten her. As she comes to the last room in the corridor, a noise behind her makes her jump. CHERIE Michelle? Phillips slams down the paper, and peeps his head out of the door. Nothing. He sighs and sits down again, when he hears the noise again. It is a shuffling sound. He gets up and exits his office, and walks down the empty corridor. There is nothing, as far as he can see. He returns to his office, but stops in the doorway. The Ghostface costume is gone. SCENE SEVEN: DETECTIVE KINCAIDS Outside the school most of the group sit around the iconic fountain. Those missing are Michelle, Adam, Williams and Cherie. They are talking amongst themselves, when Cherie and Williams walk up, with Williams admonishing her for walking off. Adam and Michelle walk out soon after, slightly apart. Michelle is still wiping tears off her face; Tony and Daniel go to comfort her. DANIEL All right, Mich? TONY Tissue? Michelle nods, and wipes her face. Steve is talking to Adam intently, who keeps looking nervously at Williams and Kirby. Cherie walks up to Kirby.

CHERIE Hey, I bumped into your Dad upstairs. Does he like, work there or something? KIRBY Oh, sorry about that. Hes the brains behind the tour, but hes too stingy to buy somewhere to set up an office, so hes using the school as a base. I hope he didnt give you too much grief. CHERIE (laughs) Its OK. I know how to deal with guys like that. KIRBY Hes such a pain...an epic stickler for rules. But I gotta say, he does trust me. Kirby jangles some keys in her pocket. KIRBY Weve basically got access to all of Woodsboro right here in my pocket. CHERIE Sweet! That could come in handy. KIRBY You have no idea. The girls laugh. Kirby at this point rounds up the group and addresses them. KIRBY OK, everyone! Gather around, please. That ends the first part of todays tour. I trust it was an educational...but emotional...experience for you all. To get a good idea of the minds of these killers, it is important that we get an insight into their lives and upbringing. Are their any questions about the school section?

STEVE Just like the Principal in the Stab movie. Sliced and diced by Ghostface. Steve stares at Williams, who looks a little unnerved. As does Cherie and Michelle. STEVE (smiling) It doesnt pay to be an educational authority in horror movies. WILLIAMS Well, fortunately, Steven, this is not a horror movie! There are no more questions, Ms. Reed. Where do we go next? KIRBY Im glad you asked. Because not only is the next port of call a highly significant one for the upbringing of one of our subjects, it was also the scene of the crescendo of the first murders. The scene cuts to an unknown location, a house, quiet inside, and seemingly deserted. The doorbell rings. Once twice. From outside, somebody yells. The door is bashed down, and several policemen burst in, weapons drawn. They disperse in twos, but the camera focuses on the two than enter the living room together. One of them is DETECTIVE MARK KINCAID (Patrick Dempsey), the other is the one and only DETECTIVE SIDNEY KINCAID (Neve Campbell). They examine the room, guns swinging around, and Kincaid goes to enter the next room when Sidney stops him with a hand signal. Kincaid turns, and Sidney points toward the cupboard. Kincaid opens the door, and a man falls out, and immediately puts his hands on his head. Kincaid puts his gun on the mans head, while Sidney cuffs him. Kincaid smiles, as he radios the other cops to give them the all clear. KINCAID Remarkable! You really have a knack for police work, Sid.

SIDNEY After being through what I have over the years, nothing takes you by surprise anymore. Sidneys phone rings. Kincaid is motioned over by a fellow officer, and engages in deep conversation. Sidney answers straight away, and confidently. There is an air of confidence, and almost arrogance, about Sidney. She seems powerful in her uniform. SIDNEY Kincaid. GHOSTFACE Not Prescott? My, my...how times have changed. SIDNEY (without hestitation) Hello, Ghostface. Who is this? GHOSTFACE You know who I am, Sidney. SIDNEY Gale? GHOSTFACE Nope. Destiny. GHOSTFACE Consider it...an invitation. All good things come to an end, Sidney. And it wouldnt seem right for you to miss the big finale. SIDNEY Finale? What do you mean by that? GHOSTFACE Youll see. Ill be in touch. The caller hangs up. Sidney scoffs and puts her phone away. Kincaid stops talking to the officer and approaches Sidney. KINCAID Who was that? SIDNEY (rolling eyes) Who do you think? She begins to dial Deweys number SIDNEY I just need to check in with an old friend. END SCENE. SCENE EIGHT: THE MESSAGE The scene begins in the Woodsboro police station. From the light outside the window, one can tell it is late afternoon/approaching evening. Once a busy station, it is now comically empty. Dewey is sitting in his office, staring intently at his computer. He is playing chess against the computer, but not well. Outside his office, the large cubicle-filled area is only filled with Chantelle and Judy. Dewey sighs, and returns to his game. Checkmate. The phone rings, and Dewey answers enthusiastically. DEWEY Sheriff Riley, how may I be of assistance? GHOSTFACE Oh, I think you have your part to play...Dewey. Dewey begins to close windows on his computer - chess, solitaire, minesweeper, a youtube clip of Gale reporting, a titty site. He begins the call tracer on his computer. It slowly closes in on the location as they speak.

But there will be a message. A word of warning...I would heed it, if I was you. Dewey looks to the screen. The location does indicate somewhere on the school campus. DEWEY A message? How do I know this isnt a trap? GHOSTFACE (laughing) Im not an idiot, Sheriff. I know youve survived this before. Four times in fact, it cant be coincidence. Why put myself at risk? Im not one to make mistakes like those in the past. DEWEY Why the hell would you call me, then? DEWEY I want the message passed on. Im sure youll see to that. Id love to stay and chat, but I have business to attend to. The caller hangs up. Dewey looks scared and confused, and slams the phone down. He grabs his hat and gun, and races out of his office. Dewey pulls out his mobile and starts calling somebody. JUDY (gasps) Thats illegal! Dewey glares at Hicks, who quietens immediately. Dewey lets the phone ring out, there is no answer. DEWEY Damn. There is a sound coming from somewhere in the building, echoing due to the emptiness of the building. It sounds like music. JUDY Am I hearing things? DEWEY If you are, I am too. JUDY Its coming from that way. DEWEY (nods) Follow me...have my back? JUDY Always. KIRBY That was awesome! CHERIE So great. ADAM So thats what you do to win the female heart...through music? DANIEL My boyish good looks and natural charm and wit help a bit. The girls laugh, Cherie a little longer than Kirby. Cherie, a little drunk, nods at Kirby, who doesnt understand the message. She does it again, and Kirby is still nonplussed. CHERIE Say...Kirby, didnt you have that thing you wanted to show Adam and Tony in the other room? KIRBY What thing? CHERIE You know...the thing. KIRBY (realising) Oh, yeah...that. Come on, boys. TONY What thing? Is it dangerous? Because Id be much happier staying here if... ADAM Come on, Tony...you social ninconpoop. The three leave the room. Daniel and Cherie are left alone. Friends for a few years, Cherie is only now realising how attractive Daniel is. CHERIE So. You play the guitar. What else have you been hiding from me...us...all this time?

DANIEL Oh, a few things. We all have our secrets. CHERIE (leaning in) Tell me. DANIEL Well...Im Jamaican. Or my Dad is, at least. I dont normally drink, though I do make exceptions. Im totally into gymnastics...but not in a gay way. CHERIE I certainly hope not. DANIEL Pardon? CHERIE Nothing. DANIEL And what about you? Its funny...weve been in the same college classes for two years now and we hardly know each other. CHERIE (shrugs) I guess it takes a trip like this to make you realise how well you want to get to know somebody. DANIEL And how well do you want to get to know me? CHERIE Well... Cherie leans in to kiss Daniel. Just as he is about to kiss her, he notices headlights approaching from the distance out the window. The headlights get closer, when they suddenly turn off. Daniel stands up, puts the guitar down and walks toward the front door. Cherie looks annoyed. CHERIE Excuse me! What are you doing?

Daniel exits the front door. Cherie is now alone in the living area. In spite of herself, she is a little spooked. It is dead quiet. Cherie gets up and has a look around the room. CHERIE Figures. Throw yourself at a guy, and what does he do? Run out the front door! Nice work, Cherie. Fuck sakes. In frustration, Cherie slumps back onto the couch. All of a sudden, she hears a phone ring. It seems to be coming from down a dark hallway. Cherie hesitates, but goes to investigate. She follows the source of the sound to a door, when the ringing stops. She puts her ear to the door, but hears nothing. She slowly opens the door, and walks in. It is the garage where Tatum met her death. There is a visible Out of Order sign on the garage door control. The light switch also does not work. After allowing her eyes to adjust to the light, Cherie spots a phone lying in the middle of the room. She bends over and picks it up, it is Williams phone. It has a voicemail from an unknown source. Cherie dials the number and listens to the message. It is short and abrupt. MESSAGE (in Ghostface voice) Behind you. Cherie whips around. Ghostface is standing in the doorframe, staring down at her. Cherie gasps, but controls her emotions. CHERIE Nice outfit. Who is it under there...Adam? Tony? Kirby? Ghostface remains on the spot. A knife is slowly pulled out of the cloak, and he begins to move slowly towards Cherie. (CONTINUED)

CHERIE Very funny, jokes over! Youre not very talkative, are you? I thought the killer was meant to taunt his victims first... Ghostface suddenly lashes out, and stabs the knife into a spare tire in the garage. The knife is clearly real. Cherie remains calm, still. CHERIE And thats an interesting way to get rid of your anger. Is it you, Steve? Just because Michelle wont blow you doesnt mean you have to do the same to my weekend. Ghostface takes the knife out of the tyre and continues towards Cherie, who is now panicking slightly. CHERIE Ok, please, come on. Cut it out. Youre scaring me. GHOSTFACE (lifts iPhone to mask) ...to death. Cherie screams as Ghostface lunges and narrowly misses Cherie with the blade. There is a mini-fight in which he chases her around the garage, Tatum style, with her throwing objects at him but narrowly missing. Finally, he corners her, and she has no other choice. She jumps down on the floor and tries to wriggle through the cat-flap in which Tatum was killed. Ghostface slowly raises the knife, seemingly amused. Ghostface stabs down just as Cherie manages to make it through the flap, leaving Ghostface looking bewildered. Daniel and Chantelle pull her to her feet, having tugged her through the flap. DANIEL Cherie, whats wrong? We heard screaming. CHANTELLE Is everyone OK? CHERIE (distressed) I was attacked...Ghostface...real...in the garage.

DANIEL What? Chantelle gets down on hands and knees in an attempt to look through the flap. She cant see anything. She gets back on her feet and stands with her back towards the door. CHANTELLE I cant see shit through there...Ill have to go through the back. What the...? Chantelle is interrupted by a cloaked arm shooting out of the flap and grabbing her leg. It is pulled with such force that Chantelle falls to the ground, screaming, her ankle being pulled into the flap. Daniel and Cherie try to help, but her whole leg is in the garage before they can start pulling. A few stabbing sounds and a look of pain shows on Hicks face, and all of a sudden her leg is released and she is pulled back through the flap. CHERIE Oh, thank God. DANIEL Youre going to be...holy shit! The deep stab wound went straight through Chantelles femoral artery. Bloody begins to shoot out of the wound, hitting Daniel in the face who falls with a yell. Chantelle is clearly bleeding out. Cherie tries to wrap the wound but it is too late. DANIEL No... CHERIE Jesus... CHANTELLE Tell Judy...I loved... Chantelle dies. A new set of headlights begin to come into the distance, as Cherie and Daniel hold each other in tears. Dewey and Judy pull up, and Judy exits the car and runs towards them as Dewey surveys the area, gun drawn. Judy drops to her knees in tears. JUDY (screaming) Chantelle! END SCENE.

SCENE TWELVE: CRIME SEEN The scene begins in the morning, outside the school. Dewey is leaning against his cop car, when a taxi pulls up. Sidney gets out and runs up to Dewey, hugging him. Gale gets out the other side, hidden behind dark glasses. Kincaid gets out and takes in the Woodsboro scene for the first time. Dewey is surprised to see Gale. DEWEY What is she doing here? SIDNEY I was hoping you could tell me...did you send us plane tickets? DEWEY Tickets? No, why? SIDNEY I didnt think so. Somebody mailed them to our place yesterday, pre-bought. So somebody wants us here... DEWEY (concerned) I shouldnt have called...there was another murder overnight. SIDNEY Another? Who? DEWEY Chantelle...Judys younger sister. SIDNEY No...hows she doing? DEWEY Keeping herself distracted. Shes at the police station with the tour group...well be interviewing them all morning. Kincaid walks up, and shakes Deweys hand. Gale sits down on the pavement and lights herself a smoke, ignoring the group. KINCAID Sheriff.

DEWEY Mark. KINCAID Another murder already? How can we help? DEWEY Weve got a few officers from the next town over coming later in the morning, and a few forensics too. I was hoping you could interview the suspects, ah, the group, before they get here. You know, keep it between us. KINCAID Got it. DEWEY And Ill get Sid to have a look at the crime scene, get an insiders view on things. KINCAID Agreed. Ill take the taxi to the station with Gale. Im sure she can pull herself together to be useful with the interviews. DEWEY Thanks, Mark. The brief is on my desk for you to go over. Youve got my number, keep me posted on how they go. KINCAID Will do. Kincaid and Gale get back into the taxi, and they take off towards the station. Dewey and Sidney begin walking towards the large doors of the school. SIDNEY You seem tense, Dewey. Even more than normal. Whats wrong? DEWEY You mean besides the murders? SIDNEY You know what I mean.

The two are now at the crime scene. Sidney does not flinch at the scene; Dewey does in spite of himself. Sidney surveys the message on the wall. SIDNEY Jesus...you werent kidding. Somebody did a real number on this guy...and the message. What do you think it means? DEWEY I was hoping you could help me with that. SIDNEY Well, whoever wrote this clearly wasnt mucking around. See the way the blood is smeared in such a neat fashion? They knew what they were writing, for one. And they werent in a hurry. Which means they knew where everyone else was around them, if, as you say, the group was at the school around them. Meticulously timed. DEWEY (impressed) I gather youve learned a thing or two about detective work from Mark. SIDNEY A few things. DEWEY It was the same last night. Girl killed in the middle of everyone, yet when I got inside there was no sign of the killer. Everybody else was scattered around. Itll be impossible to narrow the list of suspects down unless the interviews or forensics give us something.

DEWEY That was the other thing I hadnt told anyone. It may be three. SIDNEY Sorry? DEWEY When I spoke to the killer in the station, he said that a girl had already been killed. We found an unknown phone on Chantelles body, we believe it may belong to the missing person. SIDNEY Any idea whose it is? DEWEY Not yet. It seems to have all of the groups numbers on it, so were hoping its a friend of theirs. Something to pull out in the interviews, you know. Scare one of them if they are the killer. SIDNEY Youve seen these kids...do you think that it might be one of them? DEWEY These deaths started when Kirbys tour started in town. That cant be coincidence, can it? SIDNEY (smiling) Its nice not to be the soul cause for once. DEWEY Dont get too comfortable, Sid. Remember the phone call...the tickets? That was probably this killer. Once we get back to the station, we can try to trace...

END SCENE. SCENE THIRTEEN: INTERVIEW THIS The scene begins in the Woodsboro police station, with the group being interviewed individually. Judy is scurrying herself around keeping busy, still clearly upset. Cherie, Tony, Kirby and Michelle are sitting on a seat outside the rooms, with Michelle and Cherie comforting Kirby who is clearly distressed about her fathers death. In one of the rooms, Daniel is being interviewed by the out-of-town cops, the stern and physically intimidating OFFICER WAYNE BRIDGES (Erik King) and rookie OFFICER JEANETTE HILL (April Lee Hernandez). In the other interview room, Kincaid is grilling Adam. KINCAID So where were you at the time of the murder? ADAM As I told the other cops, I was with Kirby and Tony. We saw that Cherie wanted to get jiggy with Daniel, so we bailed for a bit. Gave them some space, you know?

ADAM (bemused) Are you seriously going to bust me for that while a killer is on the loose? KINCAID I just dont want you lying to me. At all. So what happened? ADAM Well, we were outside smoking some dope for a while, thinking Daniel was giving Cherie the ride of her life by that stage, and thats when we heard a car pull up and that copper screaming. KINCAID That copper was screaming because her sister had just been killed. Take this seriously. ADAM I am! I just dont see why I have to repeat myself over and over and over and... KINCAID Stop it. I find it interesting that you say you heard Judy screaming, yet you claim to have heard nothing of Cheries. ADAM (shrugs) Acoustics of the garage, I suppose. Its not as though nobody has ever been killed in there before and gone unnoticed. Kincaid leans back, studying Adam closely.

Steves eyes nearly pop out. STEVE Holy shit! Youre that reporter lady! Wow...you have aged terribly... GALE (sarcastically) Very perceptive, buddy. Look, Im not a cop or anything, but I really want this murder solved so I can get out of here. Spill the beans. What do you know? STEVE You want out? Scared of a little action, are you love? GALE Cut the crap. Where were you when Chantelle was killed? STEVE (proudly) With my girlfriend. Upstairs. GALE Wow, congratulations. So that took up what...two seconds of your night? MICHELLE He said that Adam would have some spares. He said he never uses them. GALE So your boyfriend went downstairs near the time of the murder, and went to find Adam. Did he come back? MICHELLE He came back, but said hed looked everywhere and couldnt find Adam. GALE Adam was on the porch, according to these notes. With Kirby and Tony. MICHELLE (defiantly) Well, he said he looked there. They werent there. And if he said that, then he is telling the truth. GALE The plot thickens...thats all for now. Thanks, Michelle. Michelle looks confused and joins the rest. Gale leans back on her chair, studying the students. The door opens, and Kincaid enters, closely flanked by Judy. JUDY Please tell me weve got a lead. GALE Nothing concrete yet. But there are several inconsistencies popping up in some of the stories. KINCAID Adam maintains that he was on the porch with Tony and Kirby at that stage of the night. GALE Steve isnt sticking with that story. Says nobody was on the porch when he was looking for some rubbers. KINCAID I think its time we spoke to them as a group. Put them one against the other. See which story holds up the best. And weve got a few aces up our sleeve too, dont we Judy. JUDY (taking out Vanessas phone) Yes we do, Detective. WILLIAMS (yelling) When we get back to campus, Im going to make it my priority to see you thrown out of the College. I will not tolerate! BRIDGES (yelling louder) I said, sit down! Williams yelps, and leaps to the nearest chair. There is a deathly silence as Bridges paces up and down, looking at the students and their Professor. BRIDGES Now you listen to me now, and you listen good. Two people are dead...and nobody is leaving here until I...we...figure out who did it. You hear me? Outside, Hill takes notes as an annoyed Bridges paces back and forth in the corridor, eager to enter the action. DEWEY Is everything OK in here? STEVE Yeah, just rosy. What do you think? DEWEY Oh, right. SIDNEY Im Detective Sidney Prescott, if you didnt realise already. I hope you wont mind if we all have a chat to see if we can get to the bottom of this mess. Now...does anybody remember anything about last night that you havent shared in the interviews? There is an elongated silence. SIDNEY Anything at all? There is another silence. Michelle looks at the ground, Cherie wipes her eyes, and Adam looks around the table as if daring anyone to speak. SIDNEY OK, fair enough. KINCAID I dont know, I dont remember. I think we did go out to the porch for a while, but I dont think we stayed there for long. I hadnt smoked before, and everything was a bit fuzzy. I think Adam might have gone to the toilet at some stage. Adam stares at Tony, who looks at the floor. He is visibly angry. SIDNEY (smug) You can see the disparity, cant you, Adam. Adam stays silent, shaking his head, clearly fuming. He feels betrayed. GALE Well, which was it, Kirby? If you were there, as Adam claims. Kirby looks up. I just looked out from inside. I didnt actually go outside. Too much effort. TONY I didnt notice anybody inside near us...and Im normally pretty perceptive. STEVE (angry) You were off your head, you cock-muncher! You wouldnt have noticed if Vanessa had come back and gotten on all fours in front of you. TONY Dont you bring her into this! CONTINUED: STEVE ...here we go. TONY (becoming animated) Well, the original Woodsboro murders were inspired somewhat from horror movies. The Windsor College killings showed all of the signs of a horror sequel. The L.A. killings were formulated around the concept of trilogies and a third movie in the cycle. GALE And you know this how? TONY Randy Meeks online blog. His videos have gone viral...the guys a hero. SIDNEY (smiles) Yeah, he was. Go on. TONY Well, the killer is trying to tell us what purpose these killings are meant to be serving. This isnt the beginning, this is the end! The end! GALE The end? TONY The killer clearly wants to end the series...be the final chapter in this horrific tale...the footnote...the bloody finale to end all finales. DEWEY I dont get it... TONY Its simple...after a while, all series run their course. Everything has to end somewhere...and by ending a series, you effectively complete the narratives of the different characters. Whether it be a happy ending or a tragic one.

KIRBY But horror series dont ever really end, do they? I mean, Halloween H20 killed off Michael, but then they pulled a quick stunt with Resurrection. TONY Well, yes. But if we look at Resurrection as the final movie, remakes ignored, it set itself apart by killing off Laurie Strode. DEWEY It set itself apart? TONY Well, in the final of a long-running series, the main characters can die. Or, if there are numerous recurring characters, at least half of them will die. Its destiny. Gale, Dewey and Sidney look at each other. Gale lingers on Dewey before she looks away. GALE (imitating Sidney) Come to Woodsboro, Gale, itll be good for you. Yeah, right. SIDNEY What else? Tony gets up and walks to the whiteboard, and writes the rules as he says them. He starts with the main characters die. He writes up unfinished story lines resolved. TONY (in his element) OK, lets make a list. If you want to end a horror series, then its important to tie up any unfinished story lines. GALE Unfinished story lines? CHERIE Like Mark?

Its nostalgic, and often has something to do with the major twist at the end. KINCAID (amused) And how does my part usually end? TONY Normally? Not well. KINCAID Oh. But what relevance does this theory have... SIDNEY How does this theory help us catch the killer, Tony? STEVE It doesnt. ADAM Oh, ye of little faith! DANIEL What else is there, Ton? TONY Going back to where it all started. GALE What? TONY Homages to the original. Reliving poignant and popular moments from the series. We should be able to predict the kills depending on the order and nature of kills from the past. DEWEY My sister was killed in that damn garage.

KIRBY And my friend Olivia was killed in the room that Vanessa was staying in, as well. SIDNEY Not to mention that she died early in the piece too. TONY See? The killer is clearly trying to end the series by following this set of rules and precedents. KINCAID Interesting. Lets take five, OK? Kincaid, Gale, Dewey and Sidney leave the room, ushered out by an eager Hill. Bridges stays in the room, eyeing off the group. BRIDGES Im going to sniff you out, you hear me? And all this, this whole station...its going to be mine. Bridges smiles, and leaves the room. Hill remains, awkwardly smiling at the students. HILL Well catch whoever did it...dont worry. She leaves the room, with the students all reclining back in their seats. Williams remains in the corner, oddly silent throughout the whole piece. In the corridor, Gale charges downstairs to have a smoke, and Dewey follows her eagerly. DEWEY Give us a minute, Sid. KINCAID What do you think? SIDNEY The kids theory seems to fit...it certainly ties in with the location and timing of the murders. Not to mention explaining why we were sent those tickets.

Bar Daniel and Cherie. Or another copycat is still an option, I guess. But I dont think its likely. SIDNEY The teacher has been awfully quiet. BRIDGES (butting in) As he should be. Arrogant mother fucker. No respect for important police work. KINCAID Yes, thank you. SIDNEY Well get him talking again when we go back in. He knows something, I can feel it. KINCAID Going by the forensics, we have nothing. Its bizarre. We wont have enough to hold them. BRIDGES Special circumstances apply, surely? We cant let these crazies out on the streets. KINCAID Thats not how it works, Bridges. If they choose to leave, we cant stop them. Unless we find something quickly. HILL (calling out) I think I can help!

HILL I didnt realise I had to fill out an application form...look at what I found on the criminal database. I thought it would be a good idea to do some background on the suspects. The group look at the screen, and Sidney smiles. SIDNEY Good work, Officer. BRIDGES Taught her everything she knows.

END SCENE. SCENE FIFTEEN: WHATS IN A NAME? Gale storms out of the Woodsboro police station, and tries unsuccessfully to light a cigarette. Looking up at the station, the blinds flutter; as though someone was watching her. The door bursts open and Dewey appears, slightly out of breath. DEWEY Gale...can we talk, please? GALE Ive got nothing left to say to you. DEWEY (joking) Theres a first for everything, then! Gale ignores him and continues trying to light her cigarette. She throws the lighter away in frustration. Dewey sighs, and passes her one from his pocket. She lights the cigarette goes to pass the lighter back. DEWEY Keep it. Since when did you start smoking? Gale ignores him and begins to drag on her cigarette.

GALE Besides get married, you mean. DEWEY Dont change the subject. GALE Look, there are murders to solve. Isnt that reason enough? DEWEY But you arent a cop...youre not even a reporter any more! I know you, Gale. Better than you ever gave me credit for! You came back because you miss me. GALE I miss you as much as I missed Ghostface, Dwight. Bad memories from the past; thats all you both are. DEWEY Not Dwight...call me Dewey. Please. GALE My days of calling you Dewey are over. Just like my days of living in this stupid town.

Gale throws down her cigarette and stomps it out. She moves past a crestfallen Dewey and back towards the station, when the door flies open with Judy bursting out. JUDY Excuse me, Gale. Sheriff...its Sidney. Shes found something. Judy rushes back into the station, closing the door behind her carefully. Sighing, Dewey follows Judy into the station. Dewey catches up to Judy and they enter the corridor to the interview rooms, only to find the students being led out of the station by Hill and a surly looking Bridges. DEWEY Whoa! Where are they all going? KIRBY Home. Sidney said we could, Dew. DEWEY (to Bridges) Is this true? HILL Just following orders, Sheriff. BRIDGES Bloody Feds. Youre releasing them without even talking to me? SIDNEY Yes, I am. It was my call. DEWEY Why? This is my... KINCAID Investigation, we know. But we dont have enough on them, and they dont want to stay here. The best we can do is send them away to somewhere safe with a police escort. Trust us, Dwight. DEWEY I wish everybody would stop calling me Dwight. OK, you can all go! Bridges, Hill...keep in regular contact. I want to know if any of them so much as misses the toilet bowl, OK? HILL Got it. The cops begin to lead the group out of the station. BRIDGES Now were on fucking toilet duty. Dick. ADAM (yelling in distance) Yahoo! Theres not a prison in the land that can hold me! (CONTINUED)

The officers lead out the group, with Adam and Steve whooping and high-fiving. Dewey pulls up a seat, Judy takes out her notepad, and the interview begins. KINCAID OK, Mr. Williams. Id like you to tell us your version of what happened last night again, if you will. WILLIAMS (impatiently) Fine. Well, as I said the first ten times, I was about to go to bed at the Macher residence when I received said prank call from Stevens phone. Unfortunately, it was one of his more convincing efforts, and I drove back to the Morris house. SIDNEY (amused) And what if the call had been real? Whats your level of duty of care over the students? WILLIAMS I dont think duty of care extends to homicidal maniacs on the loose, Detective. KINCAID And you drove straight back to the Morris house? WILLIAMS (hesitating) Yes. SIDNEY Bullshit. Tell the truth. KINCAID In Daniels statement, he claimed that he went outside to investigate a set of headlights appearing in the distance, then turning off when they got close to the house.

She had no reason to turn her headlights off. It was only luck that neither Cherie nor Daniel noticed her driving down. KINCAID Was it you coming back down the driveway, Stewart? Williams leans back, sweating profusely. WILLIAMS Yes! OK, it was me. I got halfway back to the house when I put two and two together. They probably handed the stupid phone around to trick me. So I decided to double back to teach those simpletons a lesson. DEWEY But why did you turn off your headlights? WILLIAMS When I was driving back down I noticed the flashing lights of a police vehicle parked next to the side of the house...naturally, I assumed the worst. I wasnt exactly keen to run headfirst into a killers warpath, you know. KINCAID You do realise that fleeing the scene of a crime like you did can be seen as a sign of guilt? WILLIAMS (defiantly) I do...as much as my students think I am, Im not an idiot, Detective. I am telling you the truth. SIDNEY What would you say if I said that I dont believe you?

WILLIAMS The killer, I presume. It could be any of them...except me, of course. SIDNEY Would you go on the record as saying that you would believe that one of your students would be capable of this? WILLIAMS (hesitates) I guess if I had to. Yes, I would...one of them must have placed the call. SIDNEY (smirking) Mr. Williams, we checked everybodies phones...none of your students placed that call. KINCAID And moved interstate, changing his name to Stewart Williams. WILLIAMS Changing names and jobs arent illegal acts, Detective. SIDNEY Oh, we know that. KINCAID I assume you are aware of who committed the first Woodsboro murders. Kincaid takes out photos from the school crime scene - an image of Billy and Stu. WILLIAMS Of course...Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. Everybody knows that. SIDNEY Stu, a shortened version of Stewart. And Billy, otherwise known as William. Stu and Billy...Stewart Williams. To Kirbys shock, Adam runs to the back door. To his surprise, it is now locked, and he hits it in anger. KIRBY Adam, what the hell are you doing? Lets get the hell out of here! ADAM All of my friends are in there! We cant just leave them! KIRBY But...was he real? ADAM Sure looked it...shit. Tony was right. Look, you go and get the cops. Ill run around the back and get everyone out safely. KIRBY (scared) But what if theyre already dead? ADAM (tapping his nose) We would have heard screams...and there was no blood on his knife. He hasnt killed anyone yet. KIRBY And what if... ADAM If what? KIRBY Hes one of your friends? ADAM (winking) Come on, Kirby. Have a little faith. Adam turns to run, but Kirby pulls him back and kisses him once more. He leans in and enjoys it, and then pulls away smiling.

ADAM Go get the cops...Ill be right back, I promise. KIRBY (groaning) Why would you say that!? Adam waves and runs around the corner of the house. runs in the opposite direction towards the cars. We follow Adam, who slows up as he reaches the patio. To his horror, his friends arent there. He instinctively grabs the knife from the table that Daniel used to cut the meat for dinner. ADAM (whispering) Michelle? Steve? Tony? Cherie? Shit! Looking upstairs, Adam sees a shadow moving about in an upstairs bathroom. Seeing the back door is wide open, he breathes deep and walks up the steps and enters the house. Inside, it is dark and eerie, with deathly silence building tension. Adam slowly reaches the foot of the stairs, and begins to climb. Light thumping sounds can now be heard from upstairs. Reaching the top of the stairs, Adam is walking past the bedroom when the door flies open. He muffles a yell and jumps back. To his relief, he sees that Tony and Michelle have jumped out at him, looking relieved themselves. TONY Oh, thank God. ADAM What the hell are you doing in there? MICHELLE (terrified) We were sitting out on the patio...and I saw him, Adam. Hes real...and hes still out there. TONY Well, I didnt see him. ADAM (nodding) I did...shes telling the truth, Tony. Where are the others?

MICHELLE I dont know about Steve...but Daniel charged off into the bushes to look. TONY He didnt believe Michelle... MICHELLE Neither did you... TONY Not until I saw how scared you were. ADAM Can we argue about who believed who later? Wheres Cherie? TONY She went to the bathroom, I think. She didnt believe Michelle either. MICHELLE (annoyed) Naturally. ADAM OK. Look, I sent Kirby out to get the cops...youll be safer out there than here. MICHELLE Out there?! But...hes...out there! ADAM (winking) Trust me. Have I ever led you wrong before? MICHELLE No. TONY Millions of times. ADAM (grinning) Not this time, Tony. Come on, quickly. Run out to the car, and lock yourselves in. Call Sidney when youre safe and locked in.

Michelle and Tony take one last look at Adam and move quickly but quietly down the stairs. Adam slowly turns around and makes his way up the hall to the bathroom. Putting his head against the door, he can hear the sound of running water. Somebody is in the shower. ADAM Cherie? Cherie? There is no reply. Adam slowly turns the door knob and opens the door, slinking in. The room is full of steam, and all that Adam can make out if a figure in the shower. It is impossible to tell who it is. The figure in the shower is not moving. Adam gulps and slowly makes his way towards the shower. ADAM (raising knife) Cherie? After again getting no reply, Adam tears open the shower curtain to reveal a naked Cherie enjoying a nice, hot shower. Just as he opens the curtain, he receives a text message. His ring-tone, unfortunately, is the music from the shower scene in Psycho. She turns around and screams, grabbing the curtain and pulling it around herself crudely to cover up her nakedness. CHERIE You creep! You fucking perv! Cherie notices the knife in Adams hand. CHERIE (screaming) Shit! Get away from me! Help! ADAM No! Shh! Dont be stupid, Cherie. Adam throws the knife to the floor, and holds his hands out in protest. CHERIE What the hell is wrong with you...havent you heard of knocking? And can you turn that fucking thing off! (CONTINUED)

ADAM Oh, sorry. Adam checks his message, and to his shock it is from Kirby. It reads - The cops werent in the car! What the hell should I do? xx ADAM Shit my balls... CHERIE (confused and annoyed) What? ADAM (panicked) Cherie, weve got to get the hell out of here. Its the killer...hes here... CHERIE (eyes narrowed) What do you mean here? ADAM Hes in the house. Michelle wasnt imagining it...Kirby and I saw him too! CHERIE (scared) Are you fucking serious? ADAM Even I wouldnt joke about something like this, come on...lets go! CHERIE Like this? Give me a second. And close your fucking eyes. ADAM Ok, ok! But hurry up... Adam comically closes his eyes as Cherie hops out of the shower, and quickly throws her underwear and short top on. Grabbing her phone and wallet off the sink, she pushes a fold out mirror out of the way. Looking in the mirror, she screams. Adam opens his eyes and turns around, and gasps. Ghostface is standing in the bathroom doorway, with a large knife covered in blood in hand, trapping the two in.

CHERIE (screaming) No! ADAM Out the window? CHERIE Were two fucking storeys up! And not even I can fit through there. ADAM Shit. Looks like its up to me again, then. CHERIE Adam, dont! Ghostface takes a step forward; but before he can react, Adam dives forward at him and knocks him to the ground. ADAM Quickly! Go! Get everyone the hell out of here! CHERIE And what about you? ADAM Ive got this fucker...go! Cherie doesnt need to be told again. Jumping over the two and narrowly avoiding Ghostfaces swishing blade, Cherie runs down the stairs and out of the house. She runs around the corner to the car, and is relieved to see Kirby inside. Knocking on the door, Kirby opens it quickly and lets her in, locking it behind her. KIRBY What happened? Wheres Adam? CHERIE (crying) Hes in there...fighting the killer. Kirby moves to leave the car, but Cherie stops her. CHERIE What are you doing?

KIRBY He needs my help! CHERIE (desperately) No! Please...dont leave me here by myself. Please... KIRBY OK...relax. CHERIE Where is everybody else? KIRBY (shrugging) Youre the only other one Ive seen come out of the house. Inside the house, Adam continues to wrestle with Ghostface, who still has the knife in his hand. Adam manages to shoot his elbow out and hit the knife away, but in the process opens himself up for a quick knee to the chest, knocking the wind out of him. Ghostface jumps up to grab the knife, but Adam grabs his foot and twists. He falls to the floor, and Adam jumps over him to get to knife. Unfortunately, Ghostface is too well prepared. He takes another knife out of his cloak and lunges forward, stabbing through Adams hand and pinning him to the floor. ADAM (screaming in pain) Ahh! Fuck, shit, fuck! Adam swings out his left hand to grab the knife, but Ghostface is already on his feet, and stomps on Adams hand. The audible crack of breaking fingers can be heard. ADAM (through gritted teeth) You mother fucker... Ghostface bends over and picks up the second knife, waving in menacingly in front of Adams face. Adam looks up, and Ghostface takes off his mask. We can not see who it is, but Adam gives a pained grin. ADAM No fucking way...youre not getting away with this, you know? Ill see you soon...

Adam lets out his last ever laugh as Ghostface brings the second knife down with force into the top of Adams head, piercing his skull and killing him instantly. His eyes remain open and his mouth drops open, pouring blood over the floor. Trying to pull the knife out of Adams hand and the floor, Ghostface comically cant manage it. Looking down at Adams body, Ghostface rips off his shirt. Taking his knife, Ghostface begins to carve a message into his exposed back. END SCENE.
