(NOTE: There are 5 quizzes, however, only the 4 highest scores will count) COMPREHENSIVE MID-TERM EXAM = 30% COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM = 30% Homework = 20% Note that the homework grade is not pass/fail. You will receive a percentage of 20% for your homework grade, based upon your overall homework percentage for the semester. For example, if a student earns credit for 95% of the homework questions issued during the semester, that student will receive 95% of 20% as their final homework grade. (That students final homework grade would be 19%.) Assignments and types of assessments: ASSIGNMENTS: 1. Reading Assignments -- Your textbook is an extremely valuable resource for the course. Please keep up with the weekly reading assignments. You are responsible for learning the material in all assigned readings even though it may not be covered in class. 2. Homework Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis, with assignments posted in folders on Blackboard every Sunday (and a due date of Friday at 5PM). Homework assignments will consist of questions relating to the weeks readings, the previous weeks material, and occasional comprehensive review homework question sets covering multiple weeks material, to supplement reviews and studying for quizzes and the midterm and final exams. Question sets for the current weeks material will consist of approximately 20 questions, while the previous week and comprehensive assignments will generally consist of 10-15 questions. Homework questions are pulled from the test bank material for the text, and will be randomized in a manner intended to train the students for future certification (e.g., NCLEX) exams. Students may be asked questions from any point in a given chapter, at random. Students are strongly advised to complete the reading assignments before completing the homework assignments. Homework assignments may be completed only once, and answers will be available for study and review following completion of the assignment. No make-up homework assignments will be permitted. 3. Lectures Lectures will focus upon key concepts, especially those that form the foundation for subsequent topics. You are responsible for learning material presented in lecture even though it may not be covered in the text. 4. Review Lectures Narrated PowerPoint presentations will be posted on Blackboard within a week of the live lecture. They will follow the text and emphasize information likely to be on the quizzes and exams. The audio will be in a format compatible with MP3 players for causal listening. 5. Web Based Content Self-study modules and tutorials will be available through MasteringAandP.com (as well as on the DVD, which is packaged with the text). The course ID MAPHALL13044 will allow you to access the materials for our course through the website, provided youve already registered yourself with an account code from Pearson.

There will be no penalty for answering a question incorrectly, just no credit. There will be no curving of grades.

Grading Guidelines:

Make-up Only under exceptional circumstances will a make-up exam be offered. Guidelines: Whether the reason for missing the scheduled exam is legitimate and is in accordance with USF guidelines will be the sole decision of Professor Hall. The make-up exam will not the same as the scheduled exam, and will include essay questions. Late Assignments/ Incorrect Method of Submission: Any required assignment not completed by the deadline will not be accepted and a grade of zero will be recorded for that assignment. Incorrect submission of an assignment may be accepted if the reason is due in large part to a failure of the recording system or circumstances outside the students control. Professor Hall will make this determination.

Incomplete Incomplete (I) Guidelines: Definition: An Incomplete grade (I) is exceptional and granted at the instructors discretion only when students are unable to complete course requirements due to illness or other circumstances beyond their control. This applies to all gradable courses, including pass/fail (S/U). Students may only be eligible for an I when: majority of the students work for a course has been completed before the end of the semester the work that has been completed must be qualitatively satisfactory

What to Expect The sole objective is to provide students with a practical understanding of of the Instructor: the human body and its systems. Classroom lectures will emphasize the interrelationship of different systems, their relevance to certain diseases, and those systems that typically are more difficult than others to understand. Class participation and discussion will also be encouraged. Time constraints may not permit the review in lecture of all aspects of anatomy and physiology that may be included in the exams. That is why the assigned readings must be completed if a student is to be successful. Permission to Once presented, the audio portion of the lecture will be in the public domain use Lecture(s): and available for any use that is in accordance with the guidelines of the USF and CON.
