On Friday the Mayor of Bexley visited Brampton to address a whole school assembly. He spoke to the children about how he become Mayor; the famous places and people he has met; his charity fund raising efforts and the various activities he has to carry out as Mayor, including visiting schools, making presentations and switching on the Christmas Lights at Bexleyheath. He answered questions from the children, our favourite one was, Do you switch the lights off again? Later he joined Governors, staff and children on the new Infant playground to officially open our new Infant wing.

C O U N C I children were recently asked about their views on Road Safety and travel to and from school. Parents and L 47 replies were received from parents. The main issues have been added to the School Travel plan with, where possible, some suggestions to address the concerns. This document has now been sent to Bexley Council Road Safety Department. School Council Concerns re Walking Lots of scooters and bikes. Cars pulling out of drives Buggies and prams. People have to walk in the road, due to people standing on the pavement talking. People not paying attention when crossing. People not crossing at the zebra crossing and drivers dont always stop at the crossing. Need another crossing patrol or relocate our crossing patrol to Dorcis Avenue. Some parents still do not use the in and out gates. People park on zigzags. Parents park in school car park. Bushes in drive need to be cut down so drivers can see people on walkway. Children playing in the car park. Scooters not put in the shed neatly. Parents Concerns about road safety/travel Busy on roads surrounding school Cars not obeying parking restrictions Parents blocking the entrance and pavement Cars driving too fast down Brampton Road Not enough pedestrian crossings Cars do not always stop at crossing/red light Scooters and bikes ridden on the path Crossing Normanhurst Road is dangerous Path leading to school gate is too narrow Position of the Crossing Patrol Person is in the wrong place No cycle lane Pavement uneven Parents not setting a good example of how to cross safely Need metal railings outside school gate We have highlighted the concerns that parents could help us with; through trying to improve their own actions and behaviour. Many thanks in anticipation of your co-operation to improve safety for all children.
New Reception for 2012 We have recently held three open mornings for parents interested in place for their child in next years reception classes. Miss Fisher, Miss Lambert and Mrs Deere have proudly shown the parents around our new infant wing and answered any questions about Brampton.

Applications for the new Reception must be submitted by January 15th 2012.
For further information please see Mrs Deere in the school office.

Thank you Sporting News Congratulations to an ex-pupil Megan Lewis who has just been selected to play for the Kent Netball team. She was obviously received an excellent grounding in the sport by being a member of Miss Wilson and Miss Bennetts netball team! Well done to Megan. School News As part of the move into the new build the infant teachers had a sort out of old and unwanted resources particularly educational or reading books. Instead of just throwing these away, one of our H.L.T.A.s Mrs Gay has a close family link to TWAMTools with a Mission charity which regularly send supplies out to schools in Uganda and Zambia. We were able to donate half a cubic metre which was gratefully received for this worthwhile cause. Meanwhile we have FOB to thank for helping raise funds to replace the old and tatty reading stock. FOB Dates 2nd December - Parents Afternoon Tea - "Come and have a coffee and meet other parents from your child's class". Thursday 8th December "Brampton Christmas Fair" - after school in the Hall Friday. Saturday 17th December - FOB Family Christmas Disco - Tickets are 4 per adult and 2 per child. Those wanting tickets should collect a letter from the office.
