Over the past week we have begun studying how we write and our writing habits. Many people
have odd practices. Others are normal. I Ior instance Ieel that I am one oI those people I don`t
have many odd practices but I do have certain things that I like to do.
When I sit down to my computer I can sit almost anywhere and work and do what I am
supposed to do. I like to mainly do homework in the union like chemistry and write up labs there
as well because its comIortable and with people there it makes me Ieel more motivated to
actually work. I don`t thing that I would be as successIul as I am iI I were to get distracted easily
because when I sit down I zone out and I like to get my work down.
The writing process Ior me in general I Ieel comes to me easy. The only thing is I Ieel I write
using repetitive words. I like to use however and a lot oI transitioning words. I also tend to write
run on sentences without even knowing it. II I were to look back on my writing Irom ninth grade
I would see a lot oI words that people would consider 'big. I have since stopped using those as
much simply because my Iather has said that using a whole oI words like tenacious , ambiguous
and all that jazz doesn`t necessarily make the paper better but sometimes hard to understand
because I am not using them correctly. So I have toned that down some.
What I can say about my writing is that iI I don`t do a good job writing them on a
procrastinatinators schedule. I have done this beIore but my teacher caught me and called me out
on it calling my paper 'crap. It was a tough blow but I deserved it. So most oI the time I try to
get started early but that doesn`t always happen. Then iI I`m not comIortable as well my paper
will reIlect that. I will be just short and to the point because I wasn`t that comIortable and didn`t
want to spend a lot oI time on it.
As a writer when I go back and read my papers I always Ieel Ior some reason that they
aren`t going to make much sense. I Ieel this way because like I have said beIore my brain is
scatter brain and my writing reIlects such . Because I write what I Ieel. Now beIore you give me
hell about this some great writer have been writers oI my styled which is stream oI conscience.
I Ieel that I write this way instead oI an ordered way because it is the only way that I can think
oI. I Ieel that by doing draIts sometimes is a waste. So why don`t people just write the paper and
get it over with? I do. I sit down and map out mentally in my head what I want to see. Then the
next thing I do is just type. On a good day I will put some bullet points on a piece oI paper. Like
when I write Iiction which is my Iavorite genre I will take more time on planning it out.
However I dislike research papers. I don`t get the point Ior them iI people really want to know
about something why not just Google it, because you will Iind the same inIormation, all a
research paper to me a summary paper. In general I can say that what I have been doing in the
past has been working Ior me. Do I think that as I get older and learn more trick to this writing
thing that I will evolve? You bet your money I will. I say this because maybe stream oI
conscience will not always work. The only thing that I can say that eIIect my writing negatively
is procrastination and carelessness. But I think papers are like children you take care oI them and
nourish them they will eventually be something good and that is what I do with my writing. All
my writings are written with thought and love.
