ABOUT BAJA SAE

Many automobile companies are designing on off road car design contest across the world, providing a utomobile engineersplatform and practical view of engineering world. Many inter collegiate designs competitions have been organised in past years like Ferrari world design contest, Chevrolet design contest, bat mobile design contest and BAJA SAE series. Among this BAJA SAE is very familiar. It is an inter collegiate design competition run by the SOCIET OF AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERS. Many universities all over the world design and built small off road cars with engines of the same specification. Its first completion was originated in the university of south California in 1976 under supervision of Dr J.F Stevens and since then the competion has grown to become a premier engineering design series for university teams. Under this, students have to function as a team to design, build, test, promote and complete a vehicle within a limit of rules. Each teams goal is to design and build a prototype of rugged, single seat, off road recreational vehicle and then race with the other vehicles constructed. The team which wins the race and other tests is declared as the winner and awarded with a handsome prize money. In recent years many Indian universities and colleges have participated in BAJA activities outside India. Delhi college of engineering participated in MINI BAJA South Africa in 2004 and won best improved car award and stood 4th in static event and 11th overall in 2005. Sardar vallabh bhai national institute of technology(SVNIT) surat participated in MINI BAJA U.S in may 2006 and won chairmans award. Vellore institute of technology participated in MINI BAJA South Africa in October 2006. These were some of the colleges that participated and grabbed positions and now its TEAM UDAYS aim to make our university and country proud in SAE BAJA 2012 in U.S and we all our very confident about it.
