IC_DGM_Definitions Digital Media Terms and Definitions - Digital Media 1110 In class assignment - Stuart Heimdal Take a few

moments to find the definitions for the following terms that deal with photoshop and digital media:

Resolution--How many pixels a monitor can display in an inch. This can also apply to the number of pixels per inch in a file or the number of dots per inch for a printer. DPI--(Dots per inch) A measurement of resolution. CMYK-- The CMYK color model (process color, four color) is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, and is also used to describe the printing process itself PixelPicture element RGB-- The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light is added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colorsVector GraphicsA vector is a line described by the location of its two end points. Vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, a square, a triangle, or a curvy shape. These paths can be used to create simple drawings or complex diagrams. Paths are even used to define the characters of specific typefaces. Because vector-based images are not made up of a specific number of dots, they can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. Dithering-- A procedure used in many types of graphics in print and on the Web to simulate colors when the actual colors are not available. Tracking-- An option used in conjunction with the Character palette that stretches text to fit in a larger space. Rasterizing--- The act of rendering a vector image file into a bitmap image display. A rastered image is created from vector image

Anti-Aliasing-- The process of smoothing the appearance of a curved line in a digital image by smoothing or blending the colors between the background & the curve. Kerning-- An option used in conjunction with the Character palette to squeeze text into a small space. Moves letters closer together Bit-- A tiny space in a computer memory that acts like a switch that can be turned on (set to 1) or turned off (set to 0). Stands for "binary digit." ByteEight bits

1- Use the internet and your textbook to define the terms (above). 2- Type each word and definition into a Word document. 3- Save your document as a PDF file and name it "IC_DGM_Definitions" and place it in your folder on the server. Keep a copy open on your desktop so that we can review the terms and their definitions in class. This assignment is worth 10 points towards your participation grade.
