--------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 01-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be tireless is to ensure success.

Expression: The one who is tireless is prepared for every situation of life and so is not afraid of anything that happens. To be tireless means to be able to understand the situation in an accurate way and to have the ability to move forward inspite of all the difficult situations. It also means to learn from each and every situation and move forward constantly. Experience: When I am able to be tireless in all the situations of my life, I am able to understand things clearly. I don't experience any fear but am able to move forward with confidence knowing that I will surely be successful. With my tirelessness, I ensure success even when the worst challenges come my way. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 01-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Benefits Of Soul Consciousness (cont.) The following differences between body consciousness and soul consciousness, will make you realize the benefits of soul consciousness (the practice of meditation make us soul conscious): In Body Consciousness: I become bored and depressed easily. In Soul Consciousness: I understand situations and overcome them easily. I am able to maintain enthusiasm. In Body Consciousness: The wings of the soul are clipped (cut). In Soul Consciousness: I have wings of thought to fly beyond the body. In Body Consciousness: The intellect is dull. I am limited to the perception (way of looking at things) of this physical world only. In Soul Consciousness: The intellect is sharp. I can travel, with the power of the intellect, to my original home paramdham or shantidham. In Body Consciousness: I see a distorted (misunderstood) past and have no aim for the future. In Soul Consciousness: The past, present and future of my part are seen clearly. (To be continued tomorrow .) ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 02-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To have courage is to have the ability to bring easy change. Expression: The one who has faith in the self, in others and in God is constantly courageous. To have courage means to ensure change even in the most adverse conditions. Situations help in bringing change and progress. To bring change means to finish complaints.

Experience: When I am courageous in difficult situations, I don't have any complaints for whatever is happening. I am also not caught up with the past. On the other hand, I am able to constantly use the present moment and move forward towards the future. My vision becomes clear and I am able to bring about quick and easy change. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 02-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Benefits Of Soul Consciousness (cont.) The following differences between body consciousness and soul consciousness, will make you realize the benefits of soul consciousness (the practice of meditation make us soul conscious): In Body Consciousness: I am disturbed by feelings of false attractions. In Soul Consciousness: I am attracted by the qualities of the Supreme Soul only. In Body Consciousness: I give sorrow, like a thorn hurting everyone. In Soul Consciousness: I spread the fragrance of virtues like a flower. In Body Consciousness: I see everyone relative to my individual identity, my life revolving around "me"... this is arrogance (ego). In Soul Consciousness: I respect each individual and relate to them with humility (egolessness). In Body Consciousness: I am tense and tired. In Soul Consciousness: I am alert and relaxed. --------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 03-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be an embodiment of solutions is to experience inner power. Expression: During challenging situations, the one who is able to see things clearly is able to bring about solutions. To work with honesty means to see things clearly. The one who is able to bring about a change in one aspect is able to apply this learning in many more things and he finds his entire personality changing. Experience: When I am constantly looking for solutions I am able to bring about a change form within. Each experience teaches me something new and enriches me. My perception continues to change and with each passing situation I become more and more positive. So I find myself powerful for all situations in life. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 03-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Effects Of Anger On The Human Body In numerous studies, anger has been found to have a completely negative effect on our physical well-being. In one such study, reported at a recent conference on forgiveness and peace in the US, it was demonstrated that letting go of negative feelings that we have for someone due to his/her negative actions relieved and reduced chronic back pain.

It seems we have been conditioned to treat any tension-triggering event, be it a small accident or a conflict with a partner or colleague, as a big problem or crisis. At these moments our bodies generate and release the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. Our heart accelerates, our breath quickens and our mind races. It's all harmless if the tension or fright is brief and once in a while, like a near miss while driving, but the emotional disturbances of anger and hatred are like accidents that don't end, and hormones turn into toxins. The depressive effect of cortisol upon the immune system has been linked to serious diseases and disorders. According to a recent medical research, "Cortisol wears down the brain, leading to cell degeneration and memory loss. It also raises blood pressure and blood sugar, hardening the arteries, leading to heart disease." ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 04-11-2011 --------------------------------------------------------Truth brings humility Expression: When there is commitment for truth one has the courage to express this truth in all aspects. Even if others oppose or criticize such a person is never affected. With humility he is able to learn from everything that happens and further uses each learning to go closer to the inner truth. Experience: When I am firm in my commitment for truth, I am able to enjoy the beauty of everything that happens in my life. I recognise the fact that everything and everyone is instrumental in taking me closer to the truth. Thus, I am able to remain humble appreciating everything and learning constantly. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 04-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Understanding What Are Karmic Accounts We are not individuals acting alone in this world drama; we act in this extraordinary drama or play of life with other actors or souls who (along with us) play their different roles with different physical costumes at different times in the drama. During the process of interaction with other actors (souls) and according to the type of interaction with them, we create accounts of debit or credit that become the basis of our connections with others. The reasons for which a specific relationship goes well or not are in the so called karmic account that I have accumulated with the other person in the past. The past could be in this birth alone or in one or many previous births. The souls that play the parts of parents, children, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, friends, office colleagues and others whom I know form a network for the giving and receiving of happiness and sorrow from accounts established in the past or being created in the present. The strongest relationships that I have now were established previously. We knew each other in other lives and but in different roles. The daughter of some births ago returns now as the father, the best friend comes back as the sister etc. As long as the account exists, the interchange of actions between two souls continues. When there is nothing more to give or receive, the paths between the two souls separate by death, a break-up, a divorce or

simply by the loss of contact. An e.g. of this is our school friends. Many of our friends whom we were close to in our school days, we are not in touch with today. Another e.g. is when we change jobs; we might lose complete contact with our old colleagues. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 05-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be enthusiastic is to be light constantly. Expression: The one who is enthusiastic looks for challenges and excuses for selfimprovement. He is constantly moving forward in the most challenging situations. He uses all the available resources for personal growth and the benefit of others. His words and actions induce enthusiasm in others too. Experience: When I never let go of my enthusiasm in every moment of my life, I am able to be constantly light. This enables me to enjoy this moment, and ensures that I use it to the maximum for making my future better and bright. I also become a source of light for those around where they are able to take inspiration to make the best use of what they have. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 05-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Harmonizing The Mind And The Intellect The intellect is the faculty of the soul that judges thought and determines its quality, its ethical purity, its truthfulness, its usefulness, its appropriateness, whether it is necessary, right or wrong. The intellect is backed by the conscience. In fact, the conscience expresses itself through the intellect. If you have a positive thought, the intellect should approve it and allow it to be put into practice. If a feeling of doubt accompanies the positive thought, the intellect should take it into account and remove that doubt, before the thought gets converted into action. When the faculties of the mind and intellect are pure and strong, and they cooperate in harmony; they support one another and there is no inner conflict. If the intellect is weak, the mind feels confused and it will generate many unproductive thoughts. There will be an inner conflict and in the end the intellect will lose, because the power of influence of the intellect is less. Then, the intellect will not have the power to prevent them from going into action. Actions will be performed that are negative or unproductive, in opposition to the conscience, and they will as a result create negative habits. The intellect is the most important faculty of human consciousness to bring about personality change. If the quality of the intellect is good, the capacity and quality of the intellectual processes through which you perceive and live reality will be higher. If the intellect is clean and pure, you will differentiate what is real and authentic from what is unreal and false. You will be able to judge if a situation is beneficial or wasteful, useful or useless. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 05-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be enthusiastic is to be light constantly. Expression: Real success in not based on what one gets, but is more based on what effort one feels he has put in. So even when there is no visible attainment of the effort put in, the one who is successful, constantly looks at how well the task has been done. The focus is also on what new things have been learnt. So there is the ability to enrich oneself and bring out the best. Experience: When I am able to look at myself, instead of situations and at people, I am able to enjoy the experience of enriching myself. I am able to experience constant success as I have been able to satisfy myself first before I can think of satisfying anyone else. I find myself enriched and I also become an inspiration for so many others. I constantly move towards success.

---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 08-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Surfacing Positive Thoughts Meditation helps you to work on yourself instead of worrying about external situations, so that you can have a genuine positive influence over circumstances. This shift in attitude being of the solution and not part of the problem. The positive attracts the positive, whereas the negative attracts the negative. If there is hate, resentment, jealousy or revenge in your thoughts and feelings, you will attract people in similar situations. This is how you think, this is your life. If you want to be successful when you start or create something new, sow thoughts full of determination, confidence, perseverance, enthusiasm, positivity and stability; whether you start a new day, a new job, activity or project, or a new stage in your career or your life. Creating these kinds of thoughts on beginning any activity will help you achieve success in your life easily in everything you do. If you want to change your behavior, concentrate on the thoughts that produce it. Thoughts are like seeds: our attitudes and our actions sprout from them. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 10-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To consider oneself a trustee is to use all treasures well. Expression: When there is the awareness of being a trustee of God, there is not only recognition but also good use of the internal treasures. These internal treasures are of virtues and specialities. All these are used wisely and well. Such a person is able to be loving and detached at the same time. Experience: When I have the consciousness of being a trustee, I am able to look within and get in touch with my own internal treasures. It gives me the consciousness of having respect for myself without developing any ego. I have no negative feelings both when these treasures are not used or when situations demand more than what I feel I have. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 10-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Seven Relationships With The Supreme Every soul has a close relationship with the Supreme (God), but we simply forget it as we become over-involved in, attached to and distracted by our life on the physical plane and our different relationships with different physical beings during our journey of births and rebirths. Spirituality makes us realize the need of restoring our connection with God, which has either broken or has become loose. It also makes us realize that this connection needs to be a very deep and personal one. God plays many roles, just as a good parent, being one, but will play many roles while bringing up his or her child. Each role consists of different spiritual characteristics and virtues of God, expressed by Him. Take a few moments to think

about the main roles that God plays in our life and identify the main virtues and characteristics which He expresses e.g. in the role of Father He demonstrates the art of living to us and how to perform right karmas. In the role of Mother he gives spiritual sustenance, in the form of virtues like peace, love and joy to us. In the role of Teacher, he showers us with true knowledge of the spirit or the soul. These are just a few examples. We suggest you do your own thinking about seven different roles that God plays: Father, Mother, Teacher, Guide (or Guru), Companion (or Beloved), Friend, Child and how he plays them. Once you have done this inner thinking exercise, experience each of these seven roles on each of the seven different days of the week, one role per day. Feel Him being in that role for you and then note what you feel exactly and how you relate to Him. Also identify the spiritual characteristics and virtues that it brings out from within you. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 11-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The one who is constantly spreading the fragrance of virtues is a spiritual rose. Expression: When I am able to keep myself connected with my specialities, I am able to experience the inner beauty. Like a rose, I keep spreading the fragrance of my virtues to all I come into contact with. So I am also able to get the love, good feelings and good wishes from everyone, thus enriching my own life. Experience: When I have the consciousness of being a trustee, I am able to look within and get in touch with my own internal treasures. It gives me the consciousness of having respect for myself without developing any ego. I have no negative feelings both when these treasures are not used or when situations demand more than what I feel I have. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 11-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Anger Management And Prevention How often has your anger ever made any positive difference to situations? Probably never. Have you ever noticed that when you get angry with someone it seems to push them away, they go into hiding, they go underground, and then its not possible to influence them and help them to change. Then some people think, that if you dont get angry about anything and with anyone you might as well lie down and be a doormat, one on which anyone can walk over. Well you could if you think doormat is a role you would like to play, but its not compulsory. You could be assertive (confidently aggressive in a positive sense or self-assured) instead of angry. You are fortunate to have an intellect that knows the way to differentiate between right and wrong, you are human so you have the ability to be understanding and compassionate (merciful), and you have a unique contribution to make to this game called life. So why not do something to help situations become better by applying the qualities of generosity, kindness and mercy instead of becoming angry? If you care about the situation so much what are you waiting for? Trouble is, the angry person is a bit like the compulsive complainer about situations. If you complain (get upset) about situations it means you have an image of how you would prefer things to be but you are not prepared to actually do something about it.

---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 12-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To find reasons to be happy is to increase happiness. Expression: When the mind searches for reasons to be sad and sorrowful, even situations with no great significance are seen with a vision of negativity. So there is constantly an expression of words and actions that reflect the need for sympathy and reassurance. On the other hand, when there is the search for happiness, then everything is positive giving happiness.. Experience: When I am happy, I start perceiving everything with that vision. It is like wearing coloured glasses. Whatever colour my glasses are, the whole world is coloured with it. Then, I am no longer able to perceive and recognize negativity and I am able to remain happy with everything. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 12-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------How Does The Mind Work? We can compare the mind with a screen, where thoughts, images, feelings and associations are constantly appearing. Thoughts manifest themselves in the mind in the same way as images on a film are projected onto the cinema screen. The mind often interprets negation as affirmation. Therefore, when we tell you not to think about something, it is as if we were saying, "Think about this" and these thoughts are produced with even more force in the mind. Therefore transforming negative habits and personality traits becomes a struggle. The most effective way of fighting is to ignore these unwanted thoughts, but we should then immediately focus our mind in another direction, thinking about something positive. Thus useless or negative thoughts have no space to grow in our mind. Thinking positively is not a battle against negativity but by imbibing spiritual knowledge, we transform the negative into positive. We can compare the mind with a naughty child who is playing with a dangerous object: if you take it away from them they will cry until they get it back again. Perhaps a more effective method would be to offer them something that would be of more interest to them and in this way, by having a new inoffensive toy in their hands, they will leave the dangerous object alone. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 13-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The one who is able to pass things is the one who is able to pass in all situations. Expression: When there is the ability to understand the significance of everything that happens and pass by things with lightness, there is also the ability to move forward in spite of difficult situations. So whatever happens, there is the awareness of the resources that are available and use them for further progress. So the one who is able to do this is able to be free from failing in situations.

Experience: Since I am able to pass all the situations with a smile, I pass in the exam of life and get the result of satisfaction. I am not caught up with temporary challenges and situations, but am able to move forward in a powerful way. I use situations for taking me a step ahead. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 13-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Carrying Feelings Experienced In Meditation Into My Interactions If I keep close contact with my internal self, to check what my feelings are like and I maintain the meditative awareness at many moments during the day, even if it is for very short periods of time, I will find that the good feelings I have experienced through conscious choice, in meditation, I carry them with me into my interactions with others. Then, in any exchange, although the other person's thoughts, words or actions may not be as I would like them to be, I'll be better equipped to maintain a good feeling towards that individual, and towards myself. For example, I meditate in the morning and then leave home and find myself in a situation in the office where two of my colleagues are arguing over an issue. When I try and intervene, one of them gets aggressive with me as well, but the feelings of peace I experienced in my meditation a couple of hours ago are still with me, using which I do not reacting angrily or fearfully. In fact, if my peace is powerful enough, it will make the other one also peaceful. So the key is to emerge and collect positive feelings through meditation at regular intervals during the day. And then become a donor of positive feelings to negative situations as discussed above is an invaluable achievement. It is good for my own wellbeing, and for contributing to the creation of a peaceful atmosphere wherever I am, whenever required. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 14-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be clear and clean is to give others a chance to see what they are. Expression: When there is commitment to make oneself clear and pure from inside, there is the ability to recognize and remove all that is waste and unnecessary. There is honesty and sincerity with oneself and every step is taken to remove all that is not good. When there is the ability to do that, there is an ability also to become a mirror for others to see their own perfection. Experience: To keep myself free from negativity means to see my own inner perfection. I am not caught up with my visible negativity, but am able to connect to my inner qualities. I am honest with myself and am able to work for my own inner growth. This inner growth becomes a clear mirror for others too.

---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 14-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Role Of My Intentions In Shaping My Future The word karma has been given many negative meanings. In common language, most people almost always relate it to suffering, but the simplest meaning of karma is action. Newton's Third Law of Physics (every action has an equal and opposite reaction) is a physical law of motion. The Law of Karma is the metaphysical (non-physical) equivalent of the Newton's Third Law - it refers to action and its result (fruit) or, simply, cause and effect. The quality of my actions, thoughts more specifically determines my personal level of happiness. Our natures today are the result of everything we have thought; they are formed by our thoughts. It's not so much the act that determines the return or fruit but the quality of the motive or intention behind it e.g. in the simple task of buying a new car, the intention can be different in the case of three different people: I need to buy a good car; its an urgent need of my family. (concern) What if I am not able to buy that car model which my wife so badly wants? (worry) With me at the wheel of the brand new car, which I will be buying soon, I will be the talk of the town, my office colleagues will really be jealous of me! (ego) Although the action is the same in each case, each of these attitudes will lead to a different result. This role of intentions become clear when analyzing the difference in guilt between an army officer who kills another while protecting his country and another person who plans for months to commit a murder out of personal enmity and hatred. The karma of taking the life of someone is the same in both cases, but the return or fruit of the karma depends on the intention. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 15-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be in good company means to be protected from the storms of situations. Expression: The one who understands the significance of what happens to him, is not affected by the various situations that come by his way. On the other hand, he is able to use such situations as gifts for his own personal progress. He is able to realize the importance of keeping such company that will enable him to overcome the negative impact and use it in a positive way. Experience: When I take the support of good company to win over the negative impact that certain situations create, I am able to enjoy the growth process. Then for me situations are never those that can take me backward but they take me forward at every step. I am able to experience success at every step, whatever the situations may be.

---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 15-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Self Respect Self-respect depends on knowing who I am, knowing my eternal (ageless), spiritual self. When I have found that sense of spiritual identity, I feel I have a right to be here, to exist. Without the spiritual dimension, it is very difficult to really respect myself deeply. In this case, I base my respect on identifying with the superficial (artificial) aspects of my being: looks, gender, success, my life partner, my intelligence. With such artificial identification, I will never have a stable sense of self-respect, because people's opinions change. Today they love me, tomorrow they reject me. What is the result of depending on their opinions? I will end up fluctuating all the time - feeling positive when they say good things, and feeling down when they say negative things. To stay stable in my self-respect, I need to have a deeper understanding of my spiritual identity (the foundation of this being that I am a soul) and tap into those riches that are within me forever, waiting to blossom, like the flower from the seed. As I become spiritually aware, those riches and resources start flowing out of me. The more stable I am in my self-respect and spirituality, the more I radiate what I truly am. I feel a deep sense of contentment and I am happy to be me, however I am. I accept myself as I am. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 16-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To consider oneself to be a server means to be humble. Expression: Each one is endowed with certain specialities and gifts. The one who is able to use these specialties for the benefit of others as a server, is able to make a contribution to better the lives of those around. But the one who only thinks of his specialities and a chance for expressing the specialities is not able to remain humble. Experience: All the specialties that I have are there for a purpose. The more I use it to benefit others, the more I am able to use them with humility. I am also able to gather the good wishes of those around me and further increase my specialities. I have no expectations from others but am able to give unconditionally, recognizing their need. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 16-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Providing Emotional Support To Your Loved Ones What do we do when friends and loved ones come to us for, and expect emotional support from us? Spirituality teaches us the right technique of providing emotional support the technique of detached involvement, which is the technique of not being overawed, of not being affected ourselves by the emotions of others. If a friend, colleague or any loved one is upset and we also get upset (because we love them thats what we normally say), we cannot provide them the necessary support or the assistance to see why they are reacting emotionally and how they might change the nature of

their emotions by themselves. True love for someone would mean that I am able to provide them that. While being concerned is fine, but by becoming upset, seeing them upset simply aggravates the situation and adds fuel to their fire. By remaining detached, we can be more effective in our ability to care, listen and help them think clearly about the situation, they find themselves in. Only if we are stable, and that can happen only when we are detached, will we be able to provide them stability. We can encourage and empower them to change their negative reaction to a more positive response, and thereby generate a healthier energy. If we become over-involved in someone else's problems, there is a risk that our own judgment will be affected negatively. This is why making decisions and choices under the influence of your own and others' emotions is normally ineffective. --------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 17-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To consider life a journey is to constantly move forward. Expression: To be on a journey means to be able to put in effort to move forward constantly. The one who is on a journey is able to use his qualities to enrich his own life and contribute to those around too. He is also able to contribute to make each thing better around him. He doesn't stop with temporary obstacles but continues to move forward. Experience: When I am on a journey I am able to enjoy the journey as much as I am able to appreciate the destination. I can move on tirelessly towards my destination. I experience constant progress and success in everything I do, because there is forward growth in all I do. I am also able to inspire others too. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 17-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Experiencing The Stage Of Being A Detached Observer Experience the stage of being a detached observer by gradually creating the following thoughts: I am aware of the present moment and of time... The whole world is out there... I let go for a moment of what is happening around me... It is as if the world continues to turn, but I have stopped for a few minutes and turned into an observer... Mentally, I take a step back... I look around me as if I were in the inside of a room... the room of my mind... In this place, I can be with myself... at peace... calm... free... Here I do not have pressures, or worries, or fears... Nothing and nobody can influence me... I can think... see things as they really are... I am sitting like an observer, seeing through two windows... These windows are my eyes... I am not my eyes... I am aware of who is looking through these eyes, a tiny sparkling star like energy, the soul... I am different from everything I am seeing... I perceive that separation between the observer and the observed... I observe the things that surround me without judging, without analyzing... I simply observe, remaining at peace with myself... I see this world as a stage of a great unlimited theatre play... each human being is an actor, a soul playing their own role via their physical body... I simply observe from my inner

room... things come and go... nothing is permanent... I do not need to worry about anything or anybody... I let things be... flow... I am at peace... calmed... I share this vibration of peace with all that surrounds me. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 18-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To have the art of lightening the environment is to be specially loved. Expression: The one who has mastered the art of lightening the environment is able to create a positive impact wherever he goes. His words and behaviour constantly enrich the environment around and create lightness in each and everyone. So such a person is specially loved, winning the good wishes of all. Experience: When I am able to be a master of everything around me, I am able to experience lightness. It is this inner lightness that enables me to contribute to the external lightness too. Thus I am able to be the best and do the best, however difficult the circumstances may be. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 18-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Soul Journey A common question asked by many is Do we go back to the soul world, the incorporeal world (non-physical world), the home of all souls, when we die? When we understand and experience ourselves as souls, as un-destroyable, eternal beings, we realize that death is only a physical phenomenon. At the death of the body, the soul enters another physical costume and a new chapter in its journey of life begins. Depending on the soul's karma performed through the body, its new birth is likely to be somewhere in the company of those souls with whom it has been close in previous births. It is quite a paradox that when a soul leaves a body, the relations which it has left, mourn over the loss of their loved one, and the new relations which it gets attached to celebrate with happiness, over an addition of a new-born entrant in their family. The soul only leaves the home (the soul world) once in a unique, personal journey. This journey of the soul is not linear i.e. a straight line, with a beginning and an end. But, on the other hand, it is cyclic i.e. a circle, with neither a beginning, nor an end although both leaving the soul world and going back to the soul world happen once each in every cycle. This soul journey can be compared to actors who leave home to go to the theatre to play their parts. They change costumes between scenes - they don't return home at the end of each scene, they return home when the play is finished, only to return the next day to repeat their part in the play. Each birth of the soul that it takes can be compared to a new scene of the play, which consists of many different scenes. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 19-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Generosity wins love and respect. Expression: To be generous means to be able to recognise the specialities within and use them for everyone's benefit. The one who is generous never expects others to understand

or give but is able to give constantly from whatever he has. He is able to spread the fragrance of his specialities to those around. Experience: When I am generous, everyone around me is benefited and I find that I am able to win the love and respect for all. My continuous contribution inspires others to make effort to change and I become an example and inspiration for them. I am able to move forward with ease. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 19-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Vision, Goals, Strategies And Action Plans A vision is what you can see but not yet reach. The most powerful dimension of vision is not the long term dimension but actually the way you choose to see yourself in your work, circumstances, relationships, etc. Important changes start occurring by simply choosing to see things and people differently. That will have a huge influence on the decisions you make and the results. This is the power of vision. Goals are aimed at achieving the vision. They should be achievable in a short span of time and represent what you can see and reach. Goals should be specific, measurable, actionable, relevant and time bound (SMART). Clarification of goals then sets the agenda for the strategies (how) that are necessary to achieve those goals, to drive those goals forward. The strategies then need to be broken down into very specific action plans. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 20-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To have the courage to face challenges is to overcome weaknesses. Expression: The one who has the courage to face challenges surely puts in effort to find a solution for them. He is not caught up with these challenges but understands that they are an expression of his own weakness. To wish for the challenge to finish on its own without working on it, or to make effort to move away from the situation is escapism, which doesn't lead to success. Experience: When I am prepared for all the challenges that come my way I am able to finish my own weaknesses. I have the courage to understand that the challenge is not from the situation itself but is because of my internal weakness. So I am able to be stable and strong even in the most difficult situations. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 20-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Becoming Responsible For My Destiny These are examples of some of the inner questions that emerge in our minds from time to time: Why is she rich and successful and I am not? Why did he behave in that way with me; I've always behaved well with him. Why does that one have easy success in life and the other, however hard he tries, fails at every step? Why is he nice natured but is born blind and the other ill natured but has no health problems at all? Why does she suffer so much? She is so sweet, but yet everyone disrespects her. Why did that child die at such a young age?

She was so innocent. Why did I get married to such a person? Why am I here? How is that student in my class so intelligent? There are lot more questions like these that trouble us. In the case of sorrows, it is seen more than the sorrow, it is the question - why this sorrow exists in my life that troubles us. Why? What? How? When? Even so, they all have only one answer: karma. I don't need to go into minute details of each situation. If I see that nothing can happen without having had a justified cause in my past or in that of others, life becomes much easier to face, with responsibility and the power of courage. (To be continued tomorrow ) Message for the day 21-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To have positive feelings for others is to be saved from sorrow. Expression: Everyone has both positive qualities and negative qualities or weaknesses. But the one who is able to see others' positivity is able to respond to this positivity. He is able to inspire them to recognize and use these positive qualities. His words are constantly encouraging, giving courage and enthusiasm. Experience: When I keep myself free from seeing negativity, I am able to keep myself free from sorrow too. My mind is filled with only good and positive things. I am never caught up with only problems but am able to easily find the solutions for them, however difficult or challenging they seem to be. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 21-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Becoming Responsible For My Destiny (cont.) Factors like any particular person, a group of people, the government, nature, even God, etc. cannot be held responsible for what has happened t0 me in my life, up to this moment. It is my and my responsibility alone. Equally, what my future holds depends on me to a very large extent. Rather, whatever I choose to do at this moment is already creating my destiny for tomorrow. I shouldn't forget that the only real time I have for creating my future is the present, now. Karma teaches me that at every step, I am the creator of my own little world, the creator of my future circumstances. I also am the creator of the environment immediately around me. On a bigger level I am a co-creator or partner, together with God, of a positive future of the world, of the world of tomorrow, of the world of peace, love and happiness. So my responsibility and my ability to influence the future is not restricted to my life alone. That I can create the future of my choice - of love, peace and happiness, for myself and others, can appear as unreasonable optimism. It's just being realistic. What I create is what is going to happen. If I choose to transmit love and peace in my interactions with others today, I create relationships, in the present and for the future, based on those qualities.

-------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 22-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To recognize inner treasures is to use them well. Expression: Time, energy and thoughts are one's greatest treasures. The ones who recognize these treasures are able to look after them carefully and use them for the benefit of all. None of these inner resources are ever wasted. When these treasures are used properly and are put to full use, they bring in the best external treasures too. Experience: When I am in touch with myself and give attention to myself, I am able to recognize these inner treasures. These treasures keep me rich at all times, even when external circumstances are not so favourable. Further use of these treasures makes me only richer and richer. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 22-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Positive Consciousness The habitual way in which you use the house you live in and its contents are all affected if you use them in a positive consciousness (mental state). The result is purification while interacting with the physical object, so that when the object is in use, it fulfills its function accurately, and it has also undergone a permanent change. This can happen when you are cleaning the house, cleaning any object in the house or preparing objects for a particular purpose. If such actions are done in a positive consciousness then the physical object will have such a vibration of peace and purity that no harm can be done with it and whatever action it is used to perform will be successful. Any other soul who comes into interaction with those objects will also feel the affect of their pure vibrations. If we perform each action with the physical body in a positive consciousness, then the physical body gets purified and we can become free of illnesses. In our relationships it is the same principle. First there needs to be that detachment in relations. Secondly, when there is a positive consciousness, I will find that my interactions have a purifying affect on all that I relate to and I can bring benefit to everyone I meet. In this way a positive mental state enables all actions to be successful, whether at work or at home. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 23-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To see specialities is to receive blessings. Expression: Sometimes people are not able to use their specialities. But even at such times if one has the ability to see their specialities there is the ability to give courage and enthusiasm to them. One can provide them with such an environment that allows their own growth. So whatever the circumstances may be, there is progress.

Experience: When I am able to see the positive aspect of others, I can keep my mind free from a major portion of negativity. The potential of my thoughts can be used fully for my own inner progress and I can therefore make a contribution for the others too. This earns me blessings and good wishes from others, which further enhances my own progress. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 23-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Limitless Mind If we compare the two entities mind and matter the most obvious difference between the two that comes to the forefront is that one is non-physical and the other is physical. Another very important difference between the two is that whereas on one hand, matter has limits, in the sense, thats its fixed in time and space. The mind, on the other hand, is beyond limits, in terms of physical parameters. Its not fixed in time and space. When we take a close look at what is going on in our mind, its power becomes visible to us. Since its not fixed in space, it can link me to a friend in, as far as, Washington or Singapore in less than a second. My mind can even move in many different directions at once. Since the mind is not fixed in time, I can think about yesterday, or about fifteen years ago; about tonight, or the next three years. Thats the reason we can say that the mind is limitless, hence powerful. Thoughts also have different levels of power. Sometimes they fly past the mind leaving hardly any impact on us. At other times, they are accompanied by such feelings so as to influence our entire perception, even our complete inner mental state. Thinking about a visit to Kashmir I made last year, for e.g., I could find myself carried back mentally into the beautiful experience and its attached emotions. Filled with happiness, I will even radiate this happiness to others nearby, through my thoughts, facial expressions, words and actions. On the other hand, thoughts about the death of my close relative a few years ago will have an opposite impact on me in the present moment. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 24-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be stabilised in the state of self-respect is to give respect too. Expression: When someone is working with his own weakness, one way is just to be caught up with that weakness by looking at it. It is in fact more important to provide support and strength to the one who is weak because he has no strength of his own at that time. There is the ability to do this only when there is the ability to be aware of one's own inner strength, i.e., self-respect brings respect for others. Experience: When I have respect for myself, I am able to maintain a positive state of mind at all times. When I am able to help others through my own positive attitude, I find myself free from the problem of the conflict of relationships and the negative feelings that emerge because of it. I am able to make others powerful too and thus earn their good wishes and blessings.

---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 24-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Fears And Dependencies In Relationships Relationships are a source of support for our life, or at least, they should be. Relationships should ideally be an exchange of happiness and love. Peaceful relationships are the foundation from where we create, generate and carry out shared endeavors (efforts). Thanks to cooperation, we achieve our objectives. When people are asked about what the different causes of stress, worries and suffering are, one of the main answers is relationships. Relationships have become a cause of ties (bondage) and pain. Instead of trust it seems fear dominates in relationships. In a relationship of love - be it family, be it friendship - due to emotional weaknesses and a lack of self-esteem, in order to learn to love ourselves we need another person or people to value us, to appreciate us, to need us, to love us. Even so, we do not manage to learn to love ourselves and we continue to depend on and worry about the opinion of others, what others might say, think or feel about us. You fear the answer of others; you fear they might say something that hurts you. These fears arise out of the emotional dependence on this person or these people. And they (fears) prevent us from developing and expressing all our potential, meaning that we stop being ourselves and we fear sharing ourselves openly. (To be continued tomorrow ) ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 25-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be an example is to economise words. Expression: Everyone is looking for examples and role models. The one who is able to become an example for others by living his life with quality is the one who becomes an inspiration to others. Then there is no need for so many words to express what has to be done. Whatever is required to be done will be done without having to be told. Experience: When I have the aim of becoming a role model, I not only improve myself but also am able to give inspiration to others too. I find that the support and the cooperation comes very naturally and easily. So nothing is difficult for me as I am able to pool in everyone's resources without having to be told

---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 25-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Fears And Dependencies In Relationships (cont.) With dependency in relationships (as discussed yesterday) we enter into an energy of pleasing others so that they might continue to appreciate us. We base our self-esteem and personal security on the appreciation of these people. We stop acting in a natural, free and spontaneous way because we are worried about pleasing the one from whom we are taking mental, emotional or physical support. Into this energy of dependence enters fear: fear of losing the support of that person, fear they will get angry, fear that they might not like us any more, fear that they might reject us, etc. That fear is a signal that warns us of our emotional weaknesses and of our lack of self-esteem. Fear brings on a greater inner insecurity, which makes us carry on holding on to that dependence. There are people who, after entering into a energy of dependence and suffering because of it, leave that relationship with the objective of freeing themselves from the pain it brings about in them. Then they begin another relationship, where they generate the same energy. The solution is not in a change of relationship with another person, although on occasions that might help us. If we don't change this energy internally and if we don't learn to have a solid base of self-esteem, we will continue to depend on the appreciation and affection of others in order to appreciate and love ourselves. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 26-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------To be free from desires is to be a donor. Expression: The one who is aware of what he has attained is free from desires. He is able to recognize what he has and use it for one's own benefit and the benefit of others too. He is able to give without expecting from others i.e., he is able to give unconditionally. Experience: When I am constantly in touch with my own inner treasures I am able to experience the richness and beauty of life. I experience contentment and satisfaction for what I have. As I continue to use these treasures, I find myself getting richer and richer with these internal treasures. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 26-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Creative Visualization The incorporeal (non-physical) soul, situated in the centre of the forehead consists of three energies. Although each energy can be given a different name, it is actually the same energy, the soul, functioning on three different levels at the same time. These are the mind, which is the thinking faculty (energy) of the soul; the intellect, which is the decision-making

and visualizing faculty (energy) of the soul and the personality characteristics, commonly called sanskaras. In the practice of meditation, on one hand, the mind is used to create pure, positive and powerful thoughts or affirmations based on the basic qualities of the soul like peace, contentment, happiness, love, joy, power, etc. Along with that, the intellect is used to create visual images of the same thoughts, which is called "creative visualization". This process brings about a positive change in our 'sanskaras'. This is the basic principle used in the Rajyoga meditation taught by the Brahma Kumaris. Creative visualization may be used in various ways to experience true relaxation of the mind. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 27-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Compassion brings the ability to listen from heart. Expression: When there is compassion for others, there is the ability to listen to others, to their words and also their feelings when there is the power to listen, there is understanding. This understanding enables one to be more caring and loving in words and actions too, giving according to others needs. Experience: When I am open to the others feelings, I am able to relate to them effectively . I never let go of my inner strength becoming a source of support for others. I become such a strong pillar of support that others are able to free themselves of their negativity. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 27-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Breaking Down Patterns Of Negative Thoughts And Feelings Having understood that the source of our feelings are our thoughts, we realize that right through our journey in the physical world, in many births, we have repeatedly built up enormous webs of negative and harmful thoughts and feelings, creating many unnecessary difficulties for us, internally as well as externally. The habit continues in my present life too. Meditation helps me to untangle this mess, and break the habit. It helps me come to terms with what is going on in my own inner world and understand how I create thoughts and feelings, how to take responsibility for them, and how to tap into my original, positive inner resources, which helps me displace negative patterns of thoughts and feelings. So, meditation is not merely a relaxation technique but a powerful tool for a seemingly difficult task of self-transformation. To get the positive cycle of thoughts and feelings working in my life, the easiest place to start with is our thoughts. It's not very difficult to change our thoughts. It just requires attention. And by changing my thoughts, it becomes easy to change my feelings. In meditation, I decide that for a few minutes, each day (it could be as less as 1-2 minutes or as much as 25-30 minutes, depending on the external setting I am in) I am going to set aside negative thoughts which are weak or wasteful, and create pure, positive, powerful thoughts, based on the awareness of my spiritual identity. As I do this, I begin to

experience the original resources or treasures of the self. As a result, positive and powerful feelings for the self and others emerge. ---------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 28-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Love enables one to be free from mistakes. Expression: The one who has discovered the true love within in able to express this love under all circumstances. Love enables one to naturally and intuitively to give the best and so the right thing is done. Every word and act reflects the love and concern, thus benefiting others naturally. There is perfection visible in such a person. Experience: True love enables me to give, without effort required to be put in. There is no effort doing the right things, but I do what is required to be done. There is a sense of satisfaction in giving without expecting. Also there is an experience of personal growth with every new situation enabling to move towards greater heights of maturity. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 28-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Adopting A Wiser Perception Depending on my choice of perception, I may see life as a battleground, where I face a constant battle from morning to night. The constant to and fro between family and work may tire me emotionally and mentally. If I let it and see it that way, life can also itself become the cause or source of my tensions. It may even seem as if the path of life is scattered with rocks blocking my way. Instead of stepping around or over them, I perceive them as being obstacles. The thoughts may come easily to my mind - 'If it was not for soand-so or such-and-such, I would be able to...'. I may mention the same to my loved ones. Instead of bringing me any benefit, these complaints take me away from the power that I, the soul, have within of changing anything. I simply pass on my capacity to change, to persons or objects over whom or which I obviously have no control. If I am fortunate to have a wiser perception which spirituality can give me, life can become a great place to learn and grow. Behind seemingly difficult situations are my major lessons. Disguised in routine tasks are the sign boards that point me back towards truth. Relationships that bring with them repeated scenes of negativity with the same person and for the same reasons show me the weaknesses I have to work on. Indeed, until I work on the eradication of my weaknesses, I keep repeating them. Challenges do come, but they help to bring out the best in me. If I have the subtle eyes to see and the courage to go forward... life is a constant experience of reminders and benefits to progress along the road to my highest consciousness.

--------------------------------------------------------Message for the day 29-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------Contentment brings an experience of all other virtues. Expression: Where there is contentment, there is surely an expression of all that is lying within. There is no need to look for external supports or signals to bring out what is within, but it is naturally used to make the best out of every situation. Contentment also brings about a desire to be better and better so one is able to work towards this end. Experience: When I am content I am able to have a state of mind that is creative. So I am able to tap the inner resources for my own personal growth. I am able to creatively work with my own inner virtues and am able to add them even to the little acts that I do. I am never satisfied to the point of laziness. ---------------------------------------------------------Soul Sustenance 29-11-2011 ---------------------------------------------------------The Four Pillars Of A Spiritual Lifestyle - Achieving A Balance A balanced and fulfilling spiritual life is like a table. It stands on four legs and if one leg is shorter than the others then both balance and equilibrium will be difficult. The four legs or pillars of a spiritual life are given below in the form of four subjects. If any of the subjects is not a part of our lives or is a part of our life, but not to as great an extent as the others, then the overall balance of our spiritual life will be affected adversely (negatively). 1. Daily spiritual study (knowledge or gyan) Daily spiritual study provides the right quality of nourishment for our mind and intellect, the two important energies of the soul. 2. Daily meditation (spiritual yoga) Daily meditation provides the means to explore, discover and reconnect with oneself and with God. 3. The inculcation and development of virtues (dharna) Giving some time each day to the conscious development of our character (virtue) helps to eliminate any negative sanskars or personality characteristics (vices) arid improves our ability to build positive and harmonious relationships. The quality of our relationships is a mirror reflection of our dharna. 4. The service of others (seva) A life purpose based on some kind of service is the foundation of personal growth through the practice of giving. Finding appropriate ways to use our increasing spiritual power and understanding (through the three subjects mentioned above) for the benefit of others is the most satisfying way to use our energy today. It also ensures happiness for the present as well as for the future through accumulation of positive energy in the form of blessings of those who are served.
