OHS Fall Sports June 2011 Dear Parents and Student Athletes: The Ossining School District recognizes and supports the importance of a quality Interscholastic Athletic Program. It is our mission to foster the quest for excellence by creating an educational and competitive experience within an atmosphere of sportsmanship. Students in grades 7-12 have an opportunity to participate on an interscholastic team. We encourage all interested students to get involved within our programs. Due to facility and safety concerns some teams must limit team numbers. This is a competitive experience, which will require a commitment on your part. Being a part of a team is a privilege. Our goal is to provide interested athletes an opportunity to improve their skills and sport knowledge, learn teamwork, cooperation, and to strive for success. The commitment of those involved in our programs will help us achieve this goal. Attending daily practice and games is necessary to provide a quality program. Prior to trying out for any team, every athlete must be medically cleared to participate in his/her chosen sport. The eligibility form and current physical examination are required. The forms will be available in the OHS and AMD main office during the summer. Upon review and approval of these requirements, the school nurse will issue medical clearance. Please note that students who had the opportunity to obtain medical clearance prior to the end of school must now submit the required documentation to the nurses office by August 4th, 2011. All coaches will have a master eligibility roster well before the start of their sport season. The school doctor will be available to conduct scheduled physical examinations on August 19 and August 22 at 7:30 am. Please call the nurses office to schedule an appointment. Your child must present the completed eligibility form at the time of examination. The OHS nursing staff will be available for any questions or concerns on the following dates: August 4, 11, 18, 19 and 22-24.
