Running head: RESEARCH PROJECT

Research Project Luis Lopez Taft College

Project 2

Abstract In this study, I used randomly selected 38males and 17 females who were randomly selected from the population. A survey with 23 questions was administered. Total participants were 2628. I took simple random sample of 55 by generating random numbers with TI84. The participants for this study were surveyed by college students. On each question, there are different points of view according to the participants beliefs. There is enough evidence to suggest a relationship between persons height and weight, and ring and shoe size. There is a relationship between the gender and political party affiliation and a relationship between political parties and being in favor of the heath care bill passed. There is not enough evidence to suggest a relationship between political parties and president Obamas re-election and being in favor of the death penalty. There is not enough evidence to suggest a relationship between handedness and being in favor of the death penalty or handedness and amount of water consumed. Lastly, there is not enough evidence to suggest that more people are affiliated with Democratic Party and or that there is a relationship between handedness and gender.

Project 3

Research Project Introduction This research project is to get an idea of what people think on certain circumstances of life. The study used survey data. For this study, I wanted to know how peoples responses were related to their demographic characteristics. The participants were randomly selected, and each of them was given a survey which was previously prepared by the instructor. The surveys had a total of twenty-three questions, which are oriented to different subjects. The first eleven questions are demographic, such as gender, ethnicity, age, and education. The second sets of questions are more specific political beliefs. Using descriptive statistics and graphical displays, I compared the answers with the demographic characteristic. In addition, I also investigated if there more people affiliated with the Democratic Party and if there is a relationship between handedness and gender. Method Participants The participants for this study were recruited by college students and randomly selected. The participation for this study was voluntary and no compensation was offered. The sample consisted of 38 males and 17 females, who were randomly selected from the population. The average age was 32.4 with the standard deviation of 14.6977. The youngest participant was 11, and the oldest one was 66 years old. Measures For this research, I used a survey with twenty-three questions to collect data. The questionnaire contained demographic, and fill in blank questions.

Project 4

Procedure For this study a survey with twenty-three questions which was administered to each participant. The total participants were 2628. Most of the questions were set to yes or no answers. Some of the questions were to fill in blank, such as the shoe size and the ring size. I took a simple random sample of 55 by randomly generating numbers with TI 84. Results The results for this study show the different answers from the participants. According to the Pearson test it shows that there is enough evidence to suggest a relationship between height and weight (p-value 0.0005, r=.4373), ring size and shoe size (p-value 0.0000, r=.6396). Based on Wilcoxon Rank Sum, there is enough evidence to suggest a difference in gross income based on gender (p-value 0.0188). Using Chi Squared test of independence, there is not enough evidence to suggest a relationship between political party and whether president Obama will be re-elected (p-value 0.1149). There is enough evidence to suggest a relationship between political party and being in favor of the health care bill being passed (pvalue 0.0106). There is no evidence to suggest a relationship between political party and being in favor of the death penalty (p-value 0.2492). However, this may not be count because there was violation of an assumption. There is not enough evidence to suggest a relationship between handedness and being in favor of the death penalty (p-value 0.2950). Based on the KW-TEST, there is not enough evidence to suggest a relationship between handedness and amount of water consumed (p-value 0.2254). Finally, using Chip Squared test of independence there is not enough evidence to suggest neither that more people are affiliated with Democratic Party nor that there is relationship between handedness and gender (p-value 0.6653).

Average of Height Weight Ring size Shoe size Male income Female income

Standard Deviation 4.2810 50.1131 1.8629 2.2155 42682.2956 17214.8552

Furthermore, comparing the gross income in both genders, there was a great difference between both genders; males made more than females. By comparing the box plots show above of both gender, I found out that male have greater gross income compared to female. Political Party Democrat Republican Independent Other Obama re-election In favor 8 4 1 3 7 14 3 1 No Yes 10 5 4 3 2 12 2 0 Health Care Bill No Yes 9 16 7 4 Death penalty No 7 3 2 3

8 participants who responded were Democrats in favor of Obama being re-elected and 7 were against. On the Health Care Bill, 10 participants were Democrats in favor and 2 against. On the death penalty 9 participants were Democrats in favor and 7 against. There is a great relationship between the political party and the responses from participants. Most of the participants against Health Care Bill and death penalty were republicans but most of the participants in favor on Obama and Health Care Bill were democrat.

Project 6

Handedness In favor Right Left Ambidextrous 29 4 4

Death penalty no 10 3 0

On the Handedness, there is a seems to be relationship in favor of Death penalty 29 were right handed in favor and 4 were left handed in favor, which suggests that there is a relationship between handedness and responses. The average water amount consumed by males is 68.0263 with the standard deviation 50.3187. Handedness Male Female right 30 12 Left 6 3 Ambidextrous 2 2

Male right handedness there is 30, 6 left and 2 ambidextrous. Female right handedness is 12, 3 left and 2 ambidextrous.

Discussion In the study, I found out that there is a relationship between person height and weight and ring and shoe size. This may be because all the variables refer to a person is size which sounds reasonable. In the study, I found out that males have the higher income than women do. This may be because men work more or make more than women. In the study, I found out that there is not a relationship between political party and president Obamas re-election this may be because there are many political points of view and these who my think that Obama has not done anything good. In the study, I found out that there is a relationship between political party and being in favor of the heath care bill being passed there are more democrat in favor than republicans. In the study, I found out that there is a relationship between

Project 7

political party and being in favor of the death penalty. In this sample there were more Republicans in favor than any other political party. In the study, I found out that there is no relationship between handedness and being in favor of the death penalty which sounds reasonable because it about peoples handedness and it is hard to say that it has to do right, left, and ambidextrous hands. In the study, I found out that there is no relationship between handedness and amount of water consumed. This seems reasonable because water consumption doesnt have to do with handedness. It is up to each person to drink water or not. In the study, I found out that there is no relationship between handedness and gender because people born to be male and female and to use their hand, and they dont have to do anything to do with each other.
