JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Silicon Valley Asian American Voices Project Assistant POSITION SUMMARY Asian Americans for Community

Involvement (AACI)s mission is to improve the health, mental health, and well-being of individuals, families, and the Asian community. We do this by providing an array of high quality health and human services, sharing expertise about the Asian communitys needs and best service delivery practices, and providing Asian leadership in advocating on key health and human services issues. Founded in 1973, AACI is the largest community-based organization focused on the Asian community in Santa Clara County. The Project Assistant provides support to the AACI Silicon Valley Asian American Voices Project. The Voices project works to deepen understanding of immigrant experiences and contributions, bridge relationships between diverse communities, and inspire people to take action in support of immigrant newcomers. Through various multimedia tools and activities, Voices tells the stories of Asian American immigrants and engages the receiving community in building a welcoming place where everyone can thrive. The Project Assistant will assist with operation of the Community Dialogue, Community Educator, and DVD & Discussion Kit programs. In addition, the Project Assistant will be responsible for the project website, social media campaign, outreach activities, volunteer management, and administrative tasks. This position reports directly to the Advocacy Associate. This position is part-time, 20 hours per week from January-March 2012, and will be expanded into a full-time position from April-June 2012. Schedule: flexible. SALARY $15-18/hour (DOE), 20 hours/week January-March 2012 and 40 hours/week April-June 2012 RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with planning, implementation, and facilitation of community dialogues, presentations, meetings, and other project-related activities. Assist with general project outreach and publicity of events and activities. Oversee DVD & Discussion Kit program, including outreach, distribution, and survey collection. Manage website and social media campaign, including producing/updating content for the website, Facebook, Twitter, and discussion forum, and strategizing use of these tools to foster learning, discussion, and action. Provide technical assistance and support to Community Educator programs.

Assist with volunteer recruitment and training. Provide administrative support, including collecting/entering data, maintaining email list, and conducting participant follow-up. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work with a diverse staff, communicate with diverse clients. Strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Previous experience with community and/or advocacy work. Knowledge of Asian American or immigrant community issues preferred. Website and social media experience preferred. Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to attend periodic weekend and evening meetings. B.A. required.
