Le Passé Composé
This tense is like the simple past in English but only in the meaning cause the way is
written in French is a little bit more complicated.
Le Passé Composé se forme avec le auxiliare du verbe être ou le verbe avoir conjugué
au present Plus(+) le participe passé du verbe. À la forme negative, n’ / ne et pas
encadrent avoir ou être.
The effort you must do is when you use normal verbs in passé composé you must
memorize 16 verbs that always use être and they are the following:
1.-Aller
2- Arriver
3- Partir
4- Revenir
5- Retourner
6- Entrer
7- Rentrer
8- Sortir
9- Monter
10- Descendre
11- Tomber
12- Rester
13- Devenir
14- Mourir
15- Naître
16- Passer
Exemples : Je suis allé, tu es arrivé, il est parti, nous sommes revenus, ils
sont tombés
Other important thing when forming the passé composé is that you must use the
participe passé or the past participle and in french there are regular and irregular past
participles.
1st The regular Passé Participe in French are the verbs that end in -ER like aller their
Passé Composé changes the end part of er at the end for just an é, and the you got allé.
Aller: allé
Also the verbs that end in IR-ISSONS have regular passé compose forms like : finir –
fini
2nd The Passé Participe from the rest of the verbs are usually irregulars (Participe Passé)
nd they need to be memorized.

Another very important thing when using this time in French is that always you have to
take care of the genre of the person if is she or he cause when is she we add an –e at the
end of the participe passé and when the subject is plural we add –s to the participe passé
too. This only happens when we are using être when we are forming the passé composé.
Il est allé.
Elle est allée.
Elle a fait un bon travail.
The last thing of using this verb I must explain is how we form
the negative form of this.
Exemple: Je ne suis pas allé : I did not go
1st in french the negative form for the verbs used ne…pas and in the passé compose
they are located between the auxiliary that could be the present of être or avoir,
After them you write the participe passé.
Je n’ai pas mangé.
EXERCISES:
*Associez infinitive et participle passé des mêmes verbes, puis indiquez le passé
composé (avec l’auxiliaire être ou avoir).
Prende : pris, j’ai pris
Infinitifs : avoir- faire- vouloir- être – finir- trouver- aller- attendre- lire- venir- écrire-
pouvoir- savoir- prendre – partir.
Participe passés : été – eu – fini- pris- allé- attendu- su – fait- voulu – parti- trouvé- lu –
écrit- pu – venu.

LE FUTUR PROCHE
This Tense in French is the Short Future, is like the use of will in English
je vais aller : you will go.
Créez des minidialogues avec les verbes suivants (au passé composé et au futur
proche) : inviter quelqu’un – arriver- téléphoner à quelqu’un – partir- loger
quelqu’un-aller – prendre quelque chose.
You already know the pronom sujets and the pronom réfléchis.
When we want to insist, we use un pronom tonique at the beginning of the sentence.
Its used also after a preposition or the expression c’est.

- Qui a téléphoné ? C’est Arnaud ? – Oui, c’est lui.
