Upon completion of this unit you will knowledge, understanding and ability to demonstrate understanding of the following unit outcomes. 1. Know the use of incident grading and the importance of responding to emergency incidents safely in response vehicles. 2. Understand the roles and responsibilities of key services when attending the scene of an emergency response incident. 3. Understand the necessity for scene preservation and the service provisions of specialist units at emergency incidents. 4. Understand the health and safety considerations when attending the scene of an emergency response incident.

Learning, Teaching and Assessment Activities You will need to attend lectures and lessons prepared by your course tutor, which will include: 1. Visiting speakers from uniformed public services. 2. Participation in practical activities including training with Derbyshire Emergency Service Teams 3. Group sessions which will include tutor input, group activities, sharing experiences and develop knowledge and understanding with your peers. 4. Individual tasks, self directed study and research in preparation sessions and the development of assessed work in a format of your choice. The formats could include podcasts, presentations, models, posters, plans, blogs, video or as agreed with your tutor. 5. Assessment for this unit is ongoing and will consist of verbal or written feedback, tutor observation, question and answer and observation of evidence provided within your choice of format of assessed assignment work, on both individual and group work. You are also encouraged to give peer support, assessment/feedback during practical sessions, blogs and VLE forum. 6. Ongoing tutorial support is available throughout the unit individual and or group, you may also receive or ask for support/questions via email or VLE forum.

The College VLE will be used as a platform for sharing ideas, reflections, materials, information and as a collection point for learning resources.
