ecember 14, was 67 years since our first general election under Universal Adult Suffrage. December 15, marks 35 years since the general election of 1976 and 28 years since the general election of 1983. Also, in 1978 in Jamaica, there was a byelection in Western St Andrew following the resignation of David Coore. Dudley Thompson was the PNP candidate. Officially, the JLP did not contest the by-election. On nomination day, some seven men and women, all with the surname of Thompson showed up to be nominated. Only one person (not Dudley Thompson) was nominated. There was something of a riot, and then Prime Minister Michael Manley announced a postponement of the nominations to a new date, with the by-election set for a new date. On the new by-election date, August 3, 1978, the independent candidates combined polled fewer than 200 votes while Dudley Thompson polled in excess of 7000. The person who was nominated in the initial nomination argued in court that he should be declared the winner and the other by-election declared invalid. He did not contest the newly set election. The court never ruled on this. Did Michael Manley have the legal right to postpone the by-election? Early in 1980, the court ruled that he did not and that Dudley Thompson was therefore not duly elected. Dudley Thompson appealed and kept his seat during the appeal. When the House was dissolved for the October 1980 elections, the matter was closed as upon the dissolution

all the credit unions in Jamaica and the credit unions are owned by its members. As co-operatives, the highest authority in the credit unions are the annual general meetings. There are some 970,000 Jamaicans who are members of credit unions. The Credit Union League is represented on the RJR board of directors. Apart from providing media information on credit unions, the profit from RJR benefits the credit union members. The league provides all sorts of services to credit unions. One such service is the bailout of credit unions and the provision of loans to credit union members when their credit unions are unable to do so. My dear friends, today I wish to write about the Gift Of Life and what a blessing it is to those who still have it. This past week, the entertainment fraternity lost one of its notable producers, Mr. Fattis Burrell. Fattis was credited as one of those preservers of our music and during his heyday, funnelled a revival of roots and culture back into the mainstream. I also look back at our Fallen Soldiers who lost their struggle this year. Most recently Barry Heptones, Joel Chin and earlier in the year my brother and friend Sir Gregory Isaacs. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend time with Gregory exactly a week before he passed. I will never forget him telling me Priest, I jus
whaa touch di stage one last time. We were in the middle of planning such an event when I learned that his struggle had ended. I respected him so very much for that as he would have preferred to have gone, doing what he loved the most. That is how much Gregory Isaacs loved Reggae Music. There is a saying that Where there is life, there is hope; hope for a better tomorrow; hope for a better future. But I always add Gods willing for I believe that tomorrow is promised to no one. So while we have today, let us give thanks, always remembering that there are some who never made it. Rastafari guide, protect and bless you.
Saucy, as they embark on their journey seeking the American Dream. It allows the reader to experience the travails of a mother trying to make something of herself and her daughter, while sometimes using quite unsavory methods. The reader is allowed to experience Brooklyn, New York, in the decade of the seventies into the early eighties, the characters and their prejudices, their island habits, their hopes and their fears. Saucy is the one bright spot in the otherwise murky world of drugs, obeah, and sexual aberrations. As we follow her story, we experi-
ence the unpleasantness of parental over-protection, the joys of young love, the pain of deception and yet we are able to rejoice in the beauty of self-worth, and the fact that good always wins over all else. This is the story of the misadventures of Saucy and her Mama.

(Ricinus Communis) The Black Castor Oil Plant is native to Africa, India and Central America and grows wild into a 30-40 foot tree in most of the tropic and subtropic areas of the world. The rich oil is extracted from the seeds. It was cultivated some 6,000 years ago by the Egyptians, who used the oil as fuel to burn in their lamps.
This gift is all inclusive, see it says, which shall be to all people. Every human being ever born is included. Along with the gift of a Saviour came peace and good will toward men. Regardless of our failure, ungratefulness and disobedience, God saw fit to redeem us, the crown of His creation.
The oil is used as a purgative and laxative when taken in teaspoon dosed followed by a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Black Castor Oil has a very radical effect on the stomach and intestines and is not recommended for consistent intense use or internal consumption in large quantities, especially for children. In fact, caution is recommended when using Black Castor Oil, especially when the use of other herbal laxatives such as senna lpod are more favorably recommended.

Shaggy and Friends, the annual charity concert held by Grammy-winning Dancehall/Reggae artiste, Shaggy, will now take place in January as a result of the upcoming general elections in Jamaica. On December 4, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that general elections will commence on December 29, the day before Shaggy and Friends was originally scheduled (December 30). As a result, promoters of Shaggy and Friends moved the shows date to January 7 on the lawns of Jamaica House in Kingston. The change of date drastically affects the lineup card as internationally-renowned R&B singer, Ne-Yo leads the list of casualties who wont be able to perform at the event. Local acts scheduled to perform at the event include Assassin, Romain Virgo, Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall, Half Pint, Coco Tea and Chino. The sentencing of Christopher Dudus Coke, the former Tivoli Gardens strongman, has been postponed until January 17. He faces more than 20 years in prison under the agreement, and while no reason has been given by the Attorneys office for the Southern District of New York, which is handling the case, there is heightened speculation within the Jamaican community that the postponement is linked
to the possibility of more indictments arising from the case for which Coke was convicted. Coke has been incarcerated for more than a year after waiving extradition rights on drugs and gunrunning charges. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges during an August 31 court appearance after prosecutors presented his legal team with compelling evidence in the case. The evidence included

Woman Admits To Killing Friend And Leaving Her Under Christmas Gifts
A South Carolina woman confessed to killing a family friend and leaving her body underneath a pile of Christmas presents, and then tried to use her debit cards. Police found Patty White, 40, while riding in a car with her mother, and arrested her after she confessed to killing Michele ODowd, 67, in the victims home. ODowds twin brother discovered her body the under a pile of presents on the same day. There is nothing worse than when you walk inside and find your own sister brutally murdered over a stupid debit card, the brother told WTEV. White had also stolen two of ODowds debit cards and attempted to take money out of her account from at least two ATMs, Jacksonville police said. ODowd let White, a family friend, stay with her when she fell on hard times, police added. No formal charges have been filed against White, they said.

Bronx, NY - Thirty-four people are facing charges of conspiring to sell crack cocaine in and around two housing developments in the Bronx. The suspects allegedly operated out of the Allerton Avenue Co-ops and the Parkside Houses. Nineteen were arrested, eight are already in custody on other charges, and seven are still on the loose. Lawyers Benjamin Moore and Paul Lieberman used the Facebook diatribes in their defense of Tyrone Johnson, who was acquitted of gun possession charges last month. The lawyers found that the Facebook profile of the arresting officer, Sgt. Dustin Edwards, showed he belonged to a group formed for N.Y.P.D. officers who are threatened by superiors and forced to be victims themselves. The NYPD bars officers from making discourteous or disrespectful remarks about race or ethnicity. 2006, undercover officers have made more than 150 purchases. ing, cheering crowd as Chris Howell warmed the crowd. The Whistle Man outfitted in clownish green suit and red tie relaxed the crowd and gave all a belly laugh with his antics. As soon as Sanchez got on stage and opened his blessed mouth, he had the crowd screaming, (mostly the ladies), dancing and singing along to his hit songs and covers. For a moment, Sanchez stirred the multitude into a revival frenzy as he belted
out spiritual choruses one after the other. Oh my goodness, no it cant be! Yes it was Flourgon who joined Sanchez onstage. It was a refreshing treat. Though it is clich to say, confession is good for the soul, I must shamelessly admit, even I could not resist cavorting and shaking my bam-bam that the good Lord gave me. Without missing a beat and seeming not to grow weary from all his Pocomania prancing, the singing night-
ingale easily mesmerized the crowd with more love ballads and reggae hits. If one should ask the question, can one get enough of Sanchez? The resounding answer from a blissful audience would be NO! On that note, it can be safely quoted from one of John Heywoods poem-- All is well that endes well. More Pictures on page 13

Inspirational Insight on Dreams Deferred Have you ever felt like the product of a dream deferred? Are you feeling empty and incomplete? Do you feel like your dreams left in the moment of here today and gone tomorrow? I wonder when is the appropriate time to face the music and surrender? Is it when you feel like a cage bird forgetting the taste of freedom? Come to think of it, could the experience of failure trick our heart to accept defeat? I beg to differ, for true passion doesnt settle for feeling incomplete. Instead it fights with death until it succeeds. CLM TV co-producer Clement Hume said the executive team was informed that its contract with CIN TV was not being renewed in an email from network head honcho Stephen Hill.
It came as a total shock and surprise when we were informed that the plug was being pulled in two weeks Hume indicated. The agricultural sector plays a critical role in feeding our society, but we do not produce sufficient quantities to satisfy our demand. As a consequence, our food import bill averages between US $700 - 800 million dollars. This Nine (9) Point Plan is a first step in addressing some of the problems in the sector in the short to medium term (over the next 12 months).

Dear D J Linkage: First, I would just like to say keep up the great job on your newspaper Linkage Linkz.
Immigration
Step 1. Get a box of envelopes from the 99c store and on each envelope write down the names of everybody you are buying gift for this Christmas and the amount of money you intend to spend on the gift for each person. Get a separate envelope and on that envelope write extra. Step 2. Go to the bank and withdraw the total amount of money you intend to spend on gifts, and then place the money in each envelope by amount for each person you intend to buy the gift. Step 3. Remove all your debit cards and credit cards from your wallet or purse. Leave them at home, and then go shopping with your envelopes. Whatever change you get while shopping put
in the envelop that says extra. Recent statistics have shown that 96% of the population plan to buy gift this Christmas up from 90% last year. This of course will help to boost the economy. However the sad thing is that most of these individuals will not be using a budget. My sisters and brothers if you follow these steps you will be surprised to see how stress free you will be come January 2012. I will be a green card holder for four years coming March. I am currently engaged and will be getting married next June. My fianc has a US visa and is able to travel back and forth from Jamaica to the United States. I would like to know, should I start filing for him right after the marriage or should I wait until I have my citizenship? When is the right time to file for him? In the event that I file for him right after wedding, would that terminate his visa? Best Regards, M. Bailey Dear Ms. Bailey, Thanks for your kind words and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

The Stiller Foundations primary mission is to promote the education and well-being of children through initiatives that develop and support
Getting married will not automatically cancel your fiancs visa. Having a visa gives a person the permission to legally travel to the US border and ask for permission to enter. This means that anyone with a visa can be denied entry at any time. Once you are married and your husband travels to the US, he should be prepared to answer all questions asked by the Customs officer truthfully. He should also be prepared to prove to the officer that he has no intention of
overstaying his visit in the US, that is, that he will visit and return to Jamaica. If your husband is employed in Jamaica, he should travel with proof of his Jamaican employment and other documents that will show that he has ties to Jamaica that he cannot just abandon. If asked who he is visiting in the US, he should truthfully tell them his wife. Sometimes people believe that they should give answers that will help their situations but are not truthful. In the immigration context, that is considered immigration fraud and will prevent you from obtaining permanent residency unless you can obtain a hardship waiver. As a permanent resident for four years, you are at least one year away from qualifying to file for citizenship. After filing for citizenship it can take up to two more years for you to be interviewed and maybe another few months until you are sworn in as a citizen. Although on average it takes about six months from filing to the naturalization interview, it can take up to two years. With that in mind, you should immediately go ahead and file for your husband once you have your marriage certificate in hand. Currently, it is taking about three years for a visa to become available for the spouse of a green card holder.

Vitamin D deficiency may be causing Black People in the Diaspora to die more from Cancers, Diabetes, and Heart Diseases.
Page 19

undreds of epidemiological, clinical studies and scientific research (Studies) by reputable, global medical organizations theorize that Black People in North America, Europe and the Caribbean (Diaspora) are plagued by and die more from certain Cancers, Diabetes, High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure than Whites. NuSpecies recognizes that while clinical studies are well-intended, they are not without flaws. NuSpecies has been helping thousands of NuSpecies clients (NuSpeciesians) and we have had considerable anecdotal proof that Vitamin D is a major factor in Diasporans health. Probably 60-80 percent of Diasporans, children, young men and women included, are believed to suffer Vitamin D deficiency and related low blood count (in many cases the deficiency is chronic). About 80 percent of Black Women are believe to have or will have fibroids or uterine disorders, among other Breast and reproductive organ problems much too early in life. Likewise, most Black Men are believed to prematurely suffer from some forms of Prostate disorders (urine frequency, urine burning, enlarged Prostate and Prostate cancer) much too early in their lives. Prostate cancer is perhaps the number one killer of Black Men outside of Africa. It is believed to be the number one killer of Jamaican men. Prostate cancer is contracted from ages 30-60 but the typical age at which this disease should strike is 80-90. This means that the glands and organs of Diasporans are aging too prematurely. Some of these theories definitely support NuSpecies anecdotal evidence but NuSpecies own discoveries are not absolute proofs. After consulting with and subsequently providing frequent guidance to thousands of NuSpeciesians who are Black, and consistently observing vast health improvements, we conclude that Vitamin D deficiency seems to play a major role in Black Diasporans degraded health and premature death. The health conditions range from the common cold to Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Cancers, and Arthritis among numerous other health disorders. NuSpeciesians come to NuSpecies for assistance in cleans-
ing and detoxifying their bodies. M a n y NuSpeciesians in thousands of testimonials on varying diseases have reported amazing health results as early as a week, as late as three months. NuSpecies invented and created NuSpecies herbal and plant extract formulas with advice from scientists, doctors and herbalists. To guarantee utmost quality in the formulas, NuSpecies added sufficient amounts of Vitamin D sources and enzymes among our numerous proprietary formulations. After years of observing these health improvements, we conclude that NuSpeciesians health improvements are due largely in part to NuSpecies added selections of Vitamin D, enzymes and NuSpecies secret formulation. We are pleased to make this Vitamin D knowledge freely available. See nuspecies.com for more details. Check your Vitamin D and blood count levels with your doctors. A high quality Vitamin D should have both Vitamin A & D and be in Cod Liver Oil. Vitamin D products can be toxic and unsafe; many are synthetic or obtained from pond-raised fish fed with synthetic pellets. The wrong supplement can cause more harm than good. Humans require Vitamin D for all glandular and body functions. Diasporans diets are often rich in animal flesh, dairy products, processed or fast foods (diets of proteins, fats and cholesterol). Vitamin D deficiency is unfortunately far more pernicious with any of these diets. Human glands are very fatty tissues, especially the Prostate and Breast glands. Unused and higher level of cholesterol is a major promoter of Prostate cancer development and aggressive progression or metastasis. Cholesterol promotes tumor cell growth! While NuSpecies does not necessarily, entirely endorse the Studies, NuSpecies anecdotal observations do support them.

Now that Usain Bolt has read the London Olympic schedule, he doesnt sound too keen on running the 4x400 next year
As pinpointed in this space a few weeks ago, the 4x400 final is near the end of a five-day sequence of nonstop sprinting facing the tall man in London. While the 100 is contested on day two and three of the Games, he runs the 200 heats, semis and finals on days five, six and seven, and with the 4x400 final and the 4x100 final following on days eight and nine. He wouldnt have to worry about being too tired for the 4x100, where Jamaica are the defending champions and world record holders. With the schedule as it is, he may have to choose between the relays. As things stand, Jamaica can probably win the 4x100 without him. The team won without Asafa Powell in Daegu at the 2011 World championships and Powell is a super anchorman. With a fit Powell, World champion Yohan Blake, speedy Nesta Carter and reliable Michael Frater, Jamaica has the speed and batonpassing skill to beat the world. The 4x400 is a different matter. Only Jermaine Gonzales met the World Championships 400-metre A qualifying stan-
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP): The Athletics Federation of Nigeria says retired sprinter Sunday Bada, a former Olympic medallist and indoor world champion, has died Federation President Solomon Ogba told The Associated Press that Bada died on Monday December 12, 2011, in Lagos. He said the circumstances of his death were still unclear. Ogba said Bada, who was working as the technical director of the federation, was very healthy as far as he knew and had recently attended a Nigeria Olympians Association meeting. Bada was a member of the Nigerian team that won silver in the 4x400-meter relay at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He also took gold in the 400 at the 1997 World Indoor Championships in Paris. Ronald Jones has emerged as another candidate for the vacant position of president of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). A local newspaper reported yesterday that Jones, the president of the Barbados Football Association (BFA) and the Barbados minister of education, is soon expected to announce his candidacy for the vacant CFU position. The newspaper said David Hinds, general secretary of the BFA, will also challenge for the same position at the CFU after incumbent Angenie Kanhai of Trinidad & Tobago resigned earlier this month. The positions on the CFU executive have become vacant, following the cashfor-votes scandal in which several key figures were implicated.
dard of 45.25 seconds in 2011. Hopefully, Ricardo Chambers will be back to his 44.50 form in 2010, but that wouldnt scare the USA. The Americans dominate the event and hold all important 4x400 titles, indoors and outdoors, junior and senior. Eye-opening relays If Jamaica wants to challenge the Americans in the 4x400, Bolt will have to run. He ran 44.4 at the 2004 Penn Relays not long after his world 200-metre junior record of 19.93 seconds at the Carifta Games, and 44-flat at the 2010 Gibson Relays in two eye-opening 4x400 relay carries. Many suspect that the IAAF, the governing body for world athletics, moved the 4x100 to last because of Bolt. Apparently, the decision makers wanted him to open the show, in the 100, and close it, in the 4x100. Now that it is publicly known that he wants to chase four gold medals in London, its time to change the schedule back.

Bob Marleys Family Sues Bobs Brother Over Use of the Marley Name
Bob Marleys widow, Rita Marley is upset with Bobs brother for using the family name to sell everything from concerts to fish, poultry, energy drinks and booze, and shes suing to stop him. Rita Marley and nine of Bobs kids filed a federal lawsuit against Richard Booker, Bobs brother from another father for trademark infringement and unauthorized use of Marleys likeness. According to the suit, Bookers been real busy, registering the trademark Mama Marley to sell among other things fish, fish and chips, fish cakes, fish croquettes, fish fillets, fish mousse, and fish sausages. In addition, the suit claims Booker is using Marleys name and image to market an annual concert in Miami, known as the Nine Mile Music Festival. Nine Mile is the Jamaican village where Bob was born and is now buried. Bobs family says they have the rights to all things Marley and want all of Bookers profits. They also want a judge to order Booker to stop all future use of the name. Interestingly, next years headliners at that Nine Mile Music Festival include Stephen, Damian and Julian Marley all plaintiffs in the suit.
