This collection allows the diocese to meet a variety of basic needs directly and through diocesan agencies and organizations including J.O.I.N., St. Stephens Community House, Catholic Social Services, St. Francis Center, St. Lawrence Haven, St. Vincent Family Center, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. You can help share in this important work by generously supporting the Catholic Charities collection this year.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT

e are a group of people bound by our belief in Jesus Christ. Through our baptism, we are called to share in His work. Therefore we pledge ourselves through the ideal of shared ministry to build a community where all are welcomed, loved, needed, and appreciated; to celebrate the gift of life together in word and sacrament; and to promote justice, peace and equality for all people. - Our Lady of Victory Mission Statement

WELCOME to THOMAS ANDRAKO & LILLIAN ANDRAKO who

were recently baptized at OLV and through the Sacrament of Baptism became members of Gods family.

CONGRATULATIONS to JASON HARTKE & BRIANNE

CASSIDY who were recently united in the Sacrament of Matrimony at Our Lady of Victory.

Msgrs. Romano, Borrelli and Missimi, Deacons Baumann and Joseph and the parish staff extend to all of you Best Wishes for a Merry and Blessed Christmas! On this wondrous Feast Day, which sees worshippers gathered in our Churches as perhaps on no other celebration throughout the year, we should cast out all fear and anxiety, all worry and concern. As we open and cherish our gifts, and the love of others that they express, as we hear again and again the word Glory sung, or seen on our cards, and as we absorb the glow of Christmas lights and candles, let all of these remind us that God has sent His only Son, Jesus, to become flesh, one of us. God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in Him will have eternal life.

The St Vincent de Paul Society wishes to thank everyone who participated in the ornament tree program this year. We were able to provide Christmas gifts and dinners to 14 families. J.O.I.N. also received numerous gifts for their teens that they serve. The receiving families also want to extend their sincere thanks to all of you. It is very gratifying to know that all of us have made a big difference in the lives of these families by sharing God's love.

Thank you to all the volunteers who served the homeless dinners at the YWCA Family Center this year and many thanks to those who donated baked goods. The following are the dates OLV will host the homeless dinners in 2012. Please note that the dinners will be served on Thursdays next year: February 2, May 3, July 19, September 6 and November 1. Again, thank you for your continued dedication to a great cause.

HOLY INNOCENTS MASS Sponsored by the OLV Respect Life Committee will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at 7:00p in the Church. All those who have lost a child at any stage in life, (born or unborn) are invited along with their families and friends to attend this very special mass to bring honor to their lives and to pray for Gods comfort for our hearts. A reception will follow the Mass in Victory Hall. "Since the sixth century, on December 28, the Church has celebrated the memory of those children killed because of Herod's rage against Christ (cf. Mt 2:16-17). Liturgical tradition refers to them as the "Holy Innocents" and regards them as martyrs".

FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT

FEAST OF THE HOLY INNOCENTS MASS WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2011 - 7:00P Light refreshments will follow
The Church remembers children lost at any stage of life (before birth, at birth, after birth whether in childhood or adulthood). Please come to remember, share, grieve, find solace. They are not forgotten.

During this octave of Christmas the Church celebrates the memory of the small children of the neighborhood of Bethlehem put to death by Herod. Sacrificed by a wicked monarch, these innocent lives bear witness to Christ who was persecuted from the time of His birth by a world which would not receive Him. It is Christ Himself who is at stake in this mass-murder of the children; already the choice, for or against Him, is put clearly before men. But the persecutors are powerless, for Christ came to perform a work of salvation that nothing can prevent; when He fell into the hands of His enemies at the time chosen by God it was to redeem the world by His own Blood. Our Christmas joy is tempered today by a feeling of sadness. But the Church looks principally to the glory of the children, of these innocent victims, whom she shows us in heaven following the Lamb wherever He goes. --from Catholic Culture.org Sponsored by the Respect Life Committee
