PhET provides fun, interactive, research-based simulations of physical phenomena for free.

We believe that our research-based approach- incorporating findings from prior research and our own testing- enables students to make connections between real-life phenomena and the underlying science, deepening their understanding and appreciation of the physical world.

To help students visually comprehend concepts, PhET simulations animate what is invisible to the eye through the use of graphics and intuitive controls such as click-and-drag manipulation, sliders and radio buttons. In order to further encourage quantitative exploration, the simulations also offer measurement instruments including rulers, stopwatches, voltmeters and thermometers. As the user manipulates these interactive tools, responses are immediately animated thus effectively illustrating cause-and-effect

Simulation hepls inunderstanding of the concepts using applets. The simulation that is to be designed is an interactive one. User can change the value and see the effect of change in the su=imulation Simulation is not only shows the effect but also checks the understanding of the concept throug a similar kind of questions on the concept like : alpha decay, nuclear fission, projectile motion ohms law the green house effect, faradays electromagnetic lab, faradys laws.. Prerequisite- java , and understanding phy chem , algorithm and computer graphics.

The purpose of this document is to present a detailed description of the Interactive Science Simulator web-based application. It will explain the purpose and features of the system, the interfaces of the system, what the system will do, the constraints under which it must operate and how the system will react to external stimuli. This document is intended for both the end-users and the developers of the system.

2.1 Product Perspective:

The Interactive Simulator is designed so as to simulate the real world science phenomena. Taking cue from various scientific phenomena such as transverse and longitudinal waves, Dopplers effect, Alpha decay, Nuclear fission, Projectile motion, Ohms law, Faradays law of electromagnetism etc. The end user can control the environment variables of the simulation, change them according to the requirement and see the effect in the following simulation.

2.2 Software Interface:

The web-application is built on J2SE platform. The application has been extended using applets to run the simulation containers.

2.3 Product Characteristics:

The web-application will implement applets which will be running the simulators for the corresponding scientific phenomena being simulated under the scrutiny of the user. The user will set the parameters for each of the the simulation he/she wishes to see and run the program each time he sets the new parameters.
