BACKGROUND OF THE COURSE

Administrative Database System (OSM 552) is a course to guide the students to make the database systems using appreciate software. This course is the continuous course for Office Software Applications (OSM 502) that introduce the student how to create and familiar with the database. Nowadays, database is important to manage the systems for example, electronic commerce, business intelligence, mobile communication and grid computing. Database is a collection of related data and a database management system to be the software that manages and controls access to the database. The database managements system is now underlying framework of the information system and has fundamentally changed the way in which many organization operate. The database system remains a very active research area and many significant problems remain. Before we start to do a system, we must examine some applications of database systems to consider a database to be a collection of related data and a database systems (DBMS) to be the software that manages and controls access to the database. There are some applications of database systems, which is links with our systems. For example, when the customer booking a cake from our website, the reservation or that information will automatically add on at our system and our responsible staff will check and send to the other operation department to make a cake and then deliver it to our customers if they want we to sent it. Other than that, the customer also can come to our cake house and take away the cake if they want to buy or already booking the cake. The checkout assistant uses a bar code reader by each cake or item that already buy by the customer to scan each of it. This reader is linked to a database application that uses the bar code to find out the price of item from a product database. The application then will count or calculate the item of cake that buy by the customers.

BACKGROUND OF GROUP PROJECT

This project is involves of three members of student. They are Mysara Syafikah Binti Ishak, Norazlina Binti Mansor and Naseha Sakinah Binti Abd Hamid. In this course, we had given an assignment to create a database system. To make it more interesting, we decide to choose to create a database system about cake house.

TERMS OF REFERENCE OF THE PROJECT

This project group we take the reference from internet which is the database system in secret recipes web site that make we interest to use it as a reference for this project. The reason why we choose the secret recipes database system because secret recipe have the big name in business field and it has own web site that the customer and the supplier easy to deal with the organization. It is also contain certain information and knowledge that we can use to create a better database system.

Recipes and Magic Cake House is a trading business that offer many types of cakes to all people in Malaysia. In our cake house, we offer a lot of category of cake, for example is for occasion like cake for wedding, festive, birthday, retirement day cake and other. Other than that our cake is suitable for many types of people. Some of our cake have it specialty for people who have a disease like diabetes, we can make a cake that suitable with their condition. We also offer a cake for vegetarian people. There are many ways that we use to attract our customer. That is why our cake house is glamour even at overseas. That is why we want to established a database system that is very systematic and effective for Recipes and Magic Cake House to manage all the record and information regarding our cake house business. If the system is successful and can be used in Recipes

and Magic Cake House, it will help a lot on management department at Recipes and Magic Cake House to run daily operation smoothly without any problem. The objective of create this database system to make sure all the data and information will be keep safely. This database system will help a lot in managing our customer record, supplier record, staff record, branches record, booking record, and many more. All the data or information is very important to our company. That is to make sure our company will be the best and be all over the world favorite cake house. Besides that, by using database system, we can overcome the problem such as the probability of data redundancy and insufficient space for record.

We hope by doing this database system that will be use in Recipes and Magic Cake House, it will help the staff find the records and information easily. By using this database system also we hope that our cake house productivity will increase in all aspect. The scope of the project is to allow our customer have a very best experience and give them the very easier way to booking a cake without go outside of their home, they can just click at our website and we also provide a delivery for them.

CLIENT
The client for this project is Recipes and Magic Cake House superior, customer and the staff. 1) Recipes and Magic Cake Superior House use this system to analysis the productivity and make it increasing.

2) Recipes and Magic Cake House staff use this system to update all the current information about Recipes and Magic Cake House cake, supplier, booking date and delivery date regarding the customers. 3) Recipes and Magic Cake House customers use this systems to add information about them, delete, booking and change the information.

PROBLEM WITH CURRENT SYSTEM

Database system is the best way to manage any file for any organization like record, finance, administrative, business and others. Although the database is the best way and has more advantages to an organization, it also has several of disadvantages in this database system. The disadvantages are: Less expertise in database field Less information or knowledge in database field System cant recognize the true identity of the owner System not upgraded

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

Before this, we use the traditional way to manage the entire file in an organization. But nowadays, database system is important to manage the entire file in appreciated way. There are several advantages by using database system: Low installation cost Simple, reliable and easily maintained Reduces risk of whole system failure. CONCLUSION

Having a database system make us easy to operate and manage the data or file in appreciate way. Database system is suitable in the organization to manage their tasks. For example business, records, finance, administrative, operations and others. For this project, the Recipes and Magic Cake House have to use the database system to manage all their file and records. Besides that, the customers, suppliers or others can see our database system in our website for order, booking, promotions, price, information or others every times and every where they want. This database system also can make it easier for our customers, because by this system they can view the information they want to get from the system. They can easily put or buy the cake without need to go to the center or the branches. In the website

the people from outside can access in our website if they want to create a membership in Recipes and Magic Cake House. As a result, this database help us to promote our business to international because the customers can booking our product that they like in easily way.
