Anger justified; But when? Corporate Learning for Senior Management. Part-1.

While standing on the podium to deliver my lecture in a leading hospital and med ical college at New Delhi the question hour session was given a kick start. One after another questions started pouring in; few questions were directly related to the subject of the day and whereas most were directed toward varied personal confusion held by participants relating with en number of subjects. Right amidst the question hour session the Director of the institution prompted another Dr. Professor to ask a question on his behalf this act was well noticed at my end since I acquired an elevated position on the stage and they were seated right in the front row. The question was somewhat framed like this What should one do in order t o contain Anger and is anger totally unjustified? My initial understanding drawn from the question was that the esteemed director himself viewed himself under t hat colour and it was therefore that the question was prompted through someone e lse. While preparing for my program in that leading hospital and medical college I ca me across interesting information about its inception besides a little dossier was also passed on to me in light with the surround of that institution. I was infor med that the institution was a direct outcome of exclusive initiation undertaken by that Director. Although the institution was a Government body but its entire origin was mothered by that Director. It is also beyond doubt that the particul ar institution in mention was the one that is today internationally acclaimed fo r its excellence in service and technological advancement that falls in its ambi t. Several hundred thousand patients benefit of its services each year. A vast c omplex from its every nook and corner today appears as a marvel sculptured by so meone who had real deep zeal to bring in its present form; and that obviously wa s none else then the Director himself. The Director as informed prevailed into t he entirety of that institution of learning and service. He was also blessed wit h a highly worthy team to support all objectives ascertained for the institution . The institution has already witnessed around six years of its successful opera tion with all esteem and pride. The Director was not an arrogant person at any s tand but when it came to the exclusive compliance about all norms of the institu tion he would at times burst with annoyance that manifested in form of anger tow ards all that was incoherent to the established compassion and procedure in the foundation of that institution. It was obvious that all subjects who at one or t he other occasion had to experience his annoyance or anger would later make it a Gossip viral. The director like any head of the institution would always magnif y the ambit of his hearing potential so that maximum information could travel do wn to him and thereby the gossip viral regarding his temperament would also touch h is ears. Therefore while watching my program it probably dawned upon to him to not only s eek some knowledge about getting rid of anger but also bring it in open before a ll components of his organization so that some value judgement is sought from my end. It was indeed a very smart move by any head of the institution where he br ought before all an admittance about something that erred most subjects of his i nstitution. Such an act shall not only bring the subject for its mention publicl y but also bring his acknowledgement of it (anger) amidst all devoid of any kind of harassment. As a wise opportunist he spread before all cards that could see k some light upon that subject. I really appreciate his mention on grounds of it s fairness totally attributed to the honest heart that every minute yearned to i nstil highest standards of performance in that institution of learning and servi ce. The moment the question was raised by the Dr. Professor for and on behalf of the Director it was well observed from the stage that almost all the participan ts that were an inseparable part of that institution started a cynical gossip ac companied with smiles over their faces. It was as if nothing was audible yet eve ry small conversation at all remote ends of that enclosure was being comprehende d at my end. Soon after the question was over the director too overturned toward s the remaining participants merely to sight the change transpired in the partic

ipants and his speedy glance provided him with due assessment i.e. the one that he aspired to sight upon. To be continued in the next part. Desire2will.com. din esh kumar (learning under discipline)
