What stands out in your mind about 2011? The weather? Tsunami, drought, tornadoes? Is it politics? Congressmen hiding out, presidential candidates? What about fighting? Iraq, Afghanistan, the deaths of Bin Laden and Kaddafi? Or maybe it is sports? Alabama and Auburn with back to back championships? Then there is economics. Same old, same old. For some of you the 2011 year is remembered best because of marriages, babies, retirement, graduations or new jobs. For others, it was a year of sickness, job loss, divorce or death. Those who walk with God find His strength and help through all of these seasons. At Eastmont, 2011 included Sandi Patti, Haiti trip, Hispanic ministry, My Verse, 4th & Go, plus all our on-going ministries. What to expect in 2012? In 38 years of church ministry Ive learned the most important thing to do is trust God on a day-to-day basis. I realize next year at this time my life circumstances might be radically different. I may not be here or even be alive. Life is to be sipped, not gulped, so I enjoy each day HE gives me. My life verse has become I Corinthians 15:58: Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain. We have some unique events scheduled in 2012 (Kirk Cameron and Tony Evans), yet our greatest strength is not in programs, personalities or promotions. Our greatest strength is people like you who walk closely to God each day, looking for ways for the Lord Jesus to live His life through you. When we do that, every year will be a good year. Ill See You Sunday,
