Job Scheduling Capabilities of SAP NetWeaver Part V - Configuring Process Manager for the Web

Summary
The integration of Redwood's Cronacle tool with SAP NetWeaver allows you to schedule all SAP NetWeaver components centrally. The objective of this tutorial is to deploy and configure Process Manager for the Web, which will be used by the SAP support team and help in accessing the scheduler through a browser. Assumptions & Prerequisites


It is assumed that you have already downloaded the Job Scheduler from Service Marketplace and installed the server components (Process Server & Job Repository). You also have a SAP J2EE application server installed and running.

Procedure
1. Locate the Process Manager for web archive file (pm602.ear) in the file system. 2. Launch J2EE Visual Administrator. 3. In the Visual Administrator, choose Server -> Services -> Deploy. 4. Deploy the pm602.ear file. 5. Edit the PM4W configuration file (repconfig.xml). 6. Change the database connection properties in the configuration file and save it.

7. Start the deployed application in Visual Administrator. 8. Launch the PM4W from a web browser. Check all jobs for today to make sure PM4W works. 9. Launch Redwood Explorer. Connect using HTTP (instead of OraNet) and check if it works.

Solution
1. Locate the Process Manager for web archive file (pm602.ear) in the file system. The PM4W ear file is part of the scheduler downloaded from service marketplace.

2. Launch J2EE Visual Administrator. Start the Visual Admin tool from the start menu. If that is not available, go to file system \usr\sap\<sid>\JC30\j2ee\admin folder and execute go.bat.

3. In the Visual Administrator, choose Server -> Services -> Deploy.

4. Deploy the pm602.ear file. Click on the Deploy button. Enter the file name and location where PM602.EAR file is stored (in our case, d:\share\scheduling\pm502.ear) and click OK.

Click OK on the next Deploy Dialog popup to confirm the deployment.

5. Edit the PM4W configuration file (repconfig.xml). The repconfig.xml file is located in the following folder in the file system: \usr\sap\NWO\DVEBMGS01\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\redwood.com\Redwood Process Manager for Web\servlet_jsp\pm4w\root\WEB-INF\conf (NWO being the SID of the J2EE server).

6. Change the Database connection properties in the configuration file and save it.

7. Start the deployed application in Visual Administrator. Choose Application radiobutton at the bottom; Select the PM4W entry in the list of deployed components and click on Start Application button.

Once started successfully, the red cross-mark turns to a blue checkbox as shown below.

8. Launch the PM4W from a web browser. Check all jobs for today to make sure PM4W works. Open a web browser and invoke url http://<domain>:<j2ee_port>/pm4w.

Click on Enter Process Manager for Web link, Enter the userid and password for the server database,

Once you are logged into PM4W, click on Job Monitor.

Click on Jobs for today.

You should get a list of all jobs scheduled and executed for today.

9. Launch Redwood Explorer. Connect using HTTP (instead of OraNet) and check if it works. Choose connection mode HTTP and enter the connection parameters as given below.

Choose Repository NWJS Demo system and enter the username and password of server database.

That should log you into the Redwood Explorer with HTTP connection using PM4W

You have now successfully deployed and configured Process Manager for Web and used it to connect to the job scheduler server.
