Examination Examinations are the bane of all students nowadays. It is a word feared by students of all ages.

Many student put in a lot of effort in their studies just to get good results in the examinations. Some have their health affected due to pressure and overwork and some resort to cheat in their examinations. Now, let us consider if the examination system nowadays is good for the students. We should change the current system into a better one by having a much more solid system. Rather than grading system, examination should emphasize much more on skill development, moral values and critical thinking. On skill development, students should be taught various soft skills such as leadership capabilities, communication skills and several others. These are essential for their future as they will be applying these in their respective careers. Skill developments also train the students to be much more practical and quick thinking in solving problems. Furthermore, students who train their social skills are able to interact better with their peers. Besides that, developing good moral values within students is also important to produce not only good nature students but also a law abiding future generation. School teachers and parents today only focus on academic excellence while neglecting other important aspects. They seem to forget that school is not a place to produce machines that can only score in their exams but to produce future leaders who can lead our country to a better path. Leaders with good moral values tend to be selfless and know what is best for our country while machines will only value money more than leading the country which explains why there is so much corruption in the government sector. Finally, the current examination system is more or less like a memory game. Rather than understanding what had been taught by the teachers, they simply memorize how to answer exam questions. For an example, students know that force is the product of the moving object mass and its acceleration but only several of them understand how and why it has to be that way. Thus, students are not used to solve problems with their critical thinking. If this keeps going on, the schools are only capable of producing good workers and not good problem solvers. Critical thinking is the key to creativity and innovations. Therefore, we can conclude that the current examination system should be emphasize more on skill development, moral values and critical thinking. Most of the past civilizations begin to crumble because of their incompetence in producing good succeeding generations. Thus, it is up to us on how to educate the younger generation. An excellent next generation will ensure the survival of its country.
