DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ENERGY MANAGER 1. Formulate the plan for annual Encon Activities including Budgeting. The energy manager should prepare Monthly calendar including the following activities: Energy review meetings (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Half yearly, Annual) Energy monitoring activities Energy conservation projects Energy Audits (External & Internal) Special occasions relating to energy (National Energy Conservation Day, Awards relating to Energy conservation Suggestion Scheme etc.,) Proposed visits of employees to (a). Energy Efficient companies (for studying improvement Activities relating to energy) (b). Workshops & competitions relating to energy conservation. (NB: Dates can be tentative where exact dates are unknown.) After getting the approval from the management the same is to be displayed in the Energy & Environment Display board. 2. Act as interface between A. Management & employees in connection with energy management i) After formulating the Plan prepare the annual budget to cover the following activities a. Energy conservation promotional activities involving all employees (typical activities proposed are conducting inhouse training, workshops relating to energy). b. Cost of banners, display boards, momentums for best suggestions, best performers. c. Visit to energy efficient companies Competitions and exhibition relating to energy conservations. d. ii) iii) Visit of external agencies for promotional activities (Encon Mission)

Energy audits (external and inhouse) Energy monitoring equipments such as meters, analysers etc.,

B. Statuary authorities For sending the relevant reports to statuary authorities such as BEE, SEBs etc.,

3.Interact with other departments (functions) to ensure minimum Energy Cost The following are typical examples: a. Training To create awareness for all employees regarding energy conservation activities. b. Production engineering /Process planning in connection with use of energy efficient technologies for new equipments (Energy Efficient Motors for new machines, use of LEDs in place of Filament lamps etc.,) c. Factory production Department & utilities To ensure minimum energy cost (for ex: staggering of some equipments usage only during lean hours) d. Environment engineering Energy & environment are like two eyes before sending any energy conservation proposal to management it is necessary to ensure that there is no adverse impact on environment. e. Finance It is necessary to obtain financial sanctions for each & every energy conservation project based on payback etc., Also it is necessary to ensure financial audit on the results obtained after the completion of the project. f. Personnel Regarding promotional activities such as suggestion schemes.

4. Reporting to management Periodical reports to management regarding activities carried out, under progress, savings achieved. 5. To ensure energy conservation promotional activities for total employee involvement Forming the inhouse Energy conservation team Arranging & conducting daily, Weekly & monthly energy meetings. Arranging & coordinating half yearly & annual meetings charred by Division head. Arranging display boards at strategic locations in the factory. Also to ensure information display update. (Display boards typically indicate Encon policy, messages relating to energy conservation tips (Tip of the day)), ongoing activities improvement sheets, suggestion details from employees savings plan, savings achieved encon events. Photographs of achievers etc., Organise Slogans, essay contest for employees on energy conservation day, founders day etc., Organise periodical energy audits (external & internal)

6. Periodical energy Audits a. Organise for energy audits using external agencies on regular basis. b. To ensure all resources such as energy monitoring devices such as meters, analysers required for energy audit. c. Updating the skills of energy manager & inhouse energy audit team on regular basis. d. Conducting in house energy audits periodically 7. Monitor energy conservation projects & to ensure timely completion
