Discussion Questions (Case 10.4)-Chapter10 1. Did Wilson Mutambara act wrongly? Explain why or why not.

Assess each of the arguments he gives in his own defense. What other courses of action were open to him? What would you have done in his place?

The Company provides the allowance both to employee live areas that are safe and convenient and that they live in a style that is appropriate to the companys image. However, Wilson Mutambara was choosing use the allowance $2000 for other purpose and intentionally misrepresented his use of that allowance so that he could continue but he still stay in Old Town. According to this action, Mutambara was act wrongly because he not following the obligations of company. When Wilson accepts employment, he not agrees to perform certain tasks, usually during certain specified hours, in exchange for financial remuneration. Besides that, Mutambara also did not fulfill the contractual agreement with company that is provides the allowance but its employees must live in pace provided by company. The employment contract governs the employer-employee relationship and provides the framework for understanding the respective obligations of employer and employee.

Im also a Rambian. Its not unsafe for me to live in this neighborhood, and its insulting to be told that the area I grew up in is unseemly or inappropriate for a company employee. According to this, it mean that Mutambara was not loyalty to the company when he are hired to work for his employer, he did not had an obligation when acting on behalf He had own thinking and strongly not agree his company because he was grew up in his hometown, Rambia . He live well on there so he didnt thought Old Town is an unsafely place. Although Mutambara is Rambian and he living in Rambia but he working for company and his company requires a certain standard of living for its employees is safe and convenient and provided a monetary allowance to assure that standard of living.

The other courses of action were open to Mutambara is he can application the housing allowance and their allowance such as living allowance

with his supervisor, Barbara Weston and tell her that specify purpose and used for non-purpose for his nieces and nephews school fees.

If I stand in Mutambaras place, I will not falsifying document that were necessary for the accounting purposes of his company. I will discuss first with supervisor, Barbara Weston that if I live in safe and convenient place and protect companys image, but can I received more allowance than every coworkers just received $2000 because I need to pay school fees for eight nieces and nephews.

2. Was Dale Garman right to confirm the information he had received and to report the matter? Was it morally required of him to do so? Dale Garman was right to confirm the information he had received and to report the matter. According to the case, Dale was realizes that Wilson was indeed living in Old Town in the home of some relatives. So, the house itself couldnt have rented for more than $300, even if Wilson had the whole place to himself, which he clearly didnt.

Dale Garman was morally to do it because he not concerns with selfinterest to Wilson and loyalty the moral obligation of company when he realizing that Mutambara was conflict of obligation to the company. Garman also

understand clearly that he was hired to work for his employer, Barbara Weston, Garman had an obligation, when on behalf of the organization, to promote his employers and organizations interests under a legal obligation to act good faith and to carry out all awful instructions.

3.

What should Barbara Weston and NewCom do? Should Wilson be ordered to move out of Old Town and into more appropriate housing? Should he be terminated for having falsified his housing receipts? If not, should he be punished in some other way?

Barbara Weston is loyalty to the company and obligated to take the companys best interest into consideration. It is imperative that she consider the harm that might have accrued to NewCom as a result of the actions that Mutambara has performed. The money allocated to him was used wrongfully, but Weston also considering the reasons that Mutambara is morally acceptance because he saves every penny to pay school fees for eight nieces and nephews.

Wilson should be ordered to move out of Old Town and into more appropriate housing because he needs to protect himself live in safe and convenient place and protect companys image following the obligation to the company. There are Mutambara can safety in every time he go home and locations convenient to workplace are likely more dependable in that workplace.

He should not be terminated for having falsified his housing receipts. Barbara Weston can give a private condemn to Mutambara that is telling him and explaining what wrongs he had done.

If Mutambara is not terminated, he should be punished to give a letter of repentance that narrative how and what wrongs he lie that live in Old Town and had falsified the housing of receipts to company. Besides, he also needs write down how to repentance and improve his attitude and loyalty to company.

4. Is NewCom unfairly imposing its own ethnocentric values on Wilson Mutambara? Is the companys housing allowance policy fair and reasonable? Is it culturally biased? NewCom is not unfairly imposing its own ethnocentric values on Wilson Mutambara because NewCom requires a standard of living for its employees and that is appropriate to the companys image so it said that Mutambaras Old Town, Rambian is unsafe place. NewCom is not against Mutambara and would like provide a safe and convenient location to him. There are making sure Mutambara is safe to go home every times and go workplace for short time. The companys housing policy is fair and reasonable because NewCom wanted to guarantee that its employees had safe, high quality housing that was in keeping with the image that the company wanted to project. It is culturally biased because difference between consideration of company and Mutambaras sides. Mutambara is Rambian and he living in Rambia is right but he is working for NewCom, so that he must follow the obligation of NewCom and cooperate to protect companys image with all employees and employers.
