We are graduate students in the Department of Geographic Information Technology (GGIT) in

the Middle East Technical University. We all have been taking a course named Introduction to
Geographic Information System.

The lecturer of this course, Ph.Dr.Ahmet Çizmeli, has given some lab assignments. He
arranged in groups of three and each group consists of three students. In the last lab
assignments the lecturer asked us to choose a scientific problem that was already addressed
with GIS technologies and presented it in the classroom.

When we resarched via Internet to find a proper subject for our assignment, we encountered
importance of GIS in Command and Control Information Systems (CCIS). So we decided to
tackle the problem of the complex operating challenges of today's military forces. While doing
some research for some scientific writing via Internet on this subject, we found your article
about CCIS on “http://www.cartesia.org/geodoc/isprs2004/comm2/papers/206.pdf ” website.
It was writen rather sophisticated and clearly on CCIS. Your study is quite an instructive
article to explain using GIS about CCIS. Thank you for the very clear explanation of this CCIS,
it was a pleasure to read to your introductive article. We believe that, this subject is also an
attractive subject to make detail investigations.

We prepared a presentation based on your article and present it in the classroom last week.
Our second assignment is about to contact the autor(s) that he wrote the article which we
presented last week in the classroom and its deadline is November 5, 2008.
