When the Israelites crossed the Jordan a!ter years in the wilderness, Joshua recalled how God had protected, delivered, and ultimately brought them into the Promised Land. Then he called them to renew their covenant with the Lord, saying, Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15) In the Bible, covenant renewal consisted of, rst, remembering what God had done for the people, second, looking forward to the next stage in their journey together, and third, a recommitment to Gods calling and mission. At the beginning of 2011 our reNEW Task Force selected Appreciative Inquiry as a process to nd our positive core - those things we do well - and build upon them.
We began our work at a Leadership Retreat in April 2011, and continued with a church-wide conversation during each Sunday in June. During these reNEW conversations we remembered with gratitude all that God has done for us. As we gathered to share our stories and hear the stories of others, we focused on the best of who we are, and listened for what God has in store for us in the future. Five themes emerged during reNEW. Each of these values are connected by a strong sense of openness a term shared repeatedly in all reNEW sessions These represent the core values of First Christian. Collectively, they shape our life together and our ministry priorities as we continue to discern how God intends to work through us in the future.

Our generosity paves a way for those who follow us in the faith.
Looking forward to the next exciting chapter of First Christians ministry we renew our covenant with commitments from each member and family. Our commitments to serve and give make ministry a reality. Extravagant Generosity The Heart of Giving is our annual giving campaign theme this year and it serves as the next step of our covenant renewal. It is a time to recommit to serving and giving. It is a time to resource the ministries we presently have, and fund some of the exciting dreams revealed to us by God. This publication tells the story of how we are stewards of our resources. It shows ways we are giving time to serve and transform God's world. It tells how our extravagant generosity is touching lives. It highlights ways First Christian is:

WE AREcultivating a congregation of PASSIONATE WORSHIPERS, by oering our best, creating worship experiences that are alive, fresh, engaging, inviting, and authentic. We support dynamic music, prayer, spirituality and celebrate the artistic expression of all. Through these gatherings we are formed into community, nurtured in mind and spirit, and transformed into the people God calls us to be. Worship is the heart of our life together at First Christian and empowers us to care for one another, grow in faith, and serve others. Through worship we respond to God's love and grace. A child's early experiences enrich and foster future growth. Children need safety, security, warmth and acceptance in the promise of God's love. First Christian has a long history of caring for children in the Edmond community. Since 1963 the Children's Center at First Christian has been with the sights and sounds of children of all ages each weekday. This outreach ministry began in response to the need of a single mother who was returning to school to complete her education and continues to serve families with a variety of needs.

generosity.
2010 was a very exciting year for the church; not just in terms of what we were able to do for members, for the community we live in and for global missions. While many Disciples of Christ churches experienced decline nancially and numerically, First Christian Edmond grew in our giving and membership. Due to the recession, the past few years have been extremely dicult for churches throughout the United States. Because of your collective generosity, First Christian Edmond has not followed the national, regional or state trends. In fact, we ended 2010 with a carryover balance of just over $63,000 from our projected budget. We achieved this even a!ter increasing our outreach giving from 10% to 12% of our budget. And that strong nancial trend continues in 2011. As of June 30, 2011, our revenue from pledges and cash donations is almost 104% of what we projected in revenue when establishing our 2011 budget. Thank you for your continued generosity!
