The Kitab given in the Kitab al-Ma/idsm of Al-Jahiz. in the various articles touching on episodes al'Aghdm reproduces 2 of Hassan's life whole poems as well as single lines attributed to him.
Real and alleged verses of Hassan are quoted in many Arab works not devoted to literature proper. To give an account of the former would serve no useful purpose, 3 and I therefore confine myself
works in which spurious verses are found. More than a dozen are supplied by the geographical works of Yiiqut 4 ;nd Al-Bakri. 5 The historical works of Al-Tabari and Ibn al-Athlr have one each. 6 A rather large number is to be found in the Lisan
