The Great Wall of China The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in northern China, built originally to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions by various nomadic groups. JAPAN

Kinkaku-ji (Temple of the Golden Pavilion) Also known as Rokuon-ji (Deer Garden Temple), it is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. The garden complex is an excellent example of Muromachi period garden design. It is also one of the most popular buildings in Japan, attracting a large number of visitors annually. THAILAND

Wat Phra Kaew This is Thailand s most important and sacred temple. It houses the tiny Emerald Buddha, which is located high above the heads of the worshippers and tourists. Not much is known for certain about the statue, except that it isn t actually made of emerald but rather of green jade or jasper.

KOREA

Jongmyo Shrine Dating back to the 14th. Century the Korean Jongmyo Shrine holds spirit tablets for each of the Joseon kings and queens (1392-1910). When it was built in 1914 it was thought to be one of the longest buildings in Asia, if not the longest. INDIA

Taj Mahal The Taj Mahal is the epitome of Mughal art and one of the most famous buildings in the world. It was built In 22 years (1631-1653) with the orders of Shah Jahan and it was dedicated to Mumtaz

Mahal, the wife of Shah. 20,000 workers labored and 32 crore rupees were spent during the construction of the monument and it was built according to Islamic architecture. INDIA

Child Ganesha in the Lap of Mother Parvati A bold feat of imagination, the artist of this contemporary masterpiece has created with firm strokes of brush Parvati cradling child Ganesha in her lap. The four-armed Ganesha is unaware of his supreme divine power and his sectarian role. Besides carrying an axe and a laddu, he holds a pair of lotuses and a peacock crest.

INDONESIA

Wayang Golek Wayang Golek is a traditional form of puppetry from Sunda, West Java. Unlike flat leather shadow puppets, these puppets are made from wood, and being three-dimensional does not use a screen. The puppets are ornate with colorful costumes, and have moveable arms and head. PHILIPPINES

Spolarium The Spolarium is a painting by Filipino artist Juan Luna. The painting was submitted by Luna to the Exposicin Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1884, where it garnered the first gold medal. PHILIPPINES

Bulul

A Bulul is a carved wooden figure used to guard the rice crop by the Igorot people of northern Luzon. The sculptures are highly stylized representations of ancestors, and are thought to gain power from the presence of ancestral spirit. The Ifugao are particularly noted for their skill in carving bululs. CHINA

Cheongsam The cheongsam is a body hugging one-piece Chinese dress for women. It is known in Mandarin Chinese as the qpo and is also known in English as a Mandarin Gown. The stylish and often tight-fitting cheongsam that is most often associated with today was created in the 1920 s in Shanghai and was made fashionable by socialites and upper class women.
