House for Mr.Lakshman, Auroville Mr.

Lakshman a multiworks man in Auroville asked us to design a house cum renting place in this smallplot on the peripheri of Auroville. Thus a linear and confined design which has his house on the ground floor and th e entire upper floor for renting. It is a solar passive design with all elements involved within it.It is not only very simple but also looks attractive. Umereth : Our distant relatives Mr.Yogeshbhai has a house in the pols of Umereth. Since th e house was around 100 years old he decided to reconstruct the house. The main challange was the fact that two sides of the house were blocked. Thus i t is designed with courtyards within the house. The design allows cross ventilat ion to most of the spaces and provides open view from all the rooms. House for Mr.Ashok : This is a renovation project still in the pipeline. Our designs show diffrent op tions as to what can be done with the existing house with minimum breakage. Since it is an old and strong load bearing structure, the house by itself is ver y simple with small rooms and very insufficiant light and vetilation. Now they require larger and more open spaces. So the designs are such that with most of the original walls remaining intact, the house has larger and more organ ised rooms with proper light and ventilation. Mr. Haresh House: Mr. Haresh needed a 3bhk house with lavish rooms and simple planning. The design introduces a double heighted space for the living room making the spa ce more appealing. With simple elevations and enough light and ventilation it is a pleasent house f or a small family. Platinum Planet Township , Bilimora In the 76acre of the Gaekwar Mills land is where The Platinum Planet township is being developed. It comprises of various components like Residential, Commercial, Amenities, Weak er section Housing and open spaces and gardens. Our design allows formation of various clusters of housing. Each cluster has a g arden in the centre with housing of various types all around it in layers. The design also provides the most prominent areas near railway station for the c ommercail purposes, and the amenities are provided such that they are accecible from everyone with in the residential zone. Since the township is targeting upper and middleclass population it has a lot of variety in housing. The design is worked such that the area consumed in the road is minimised thus p roviding maximum area for residential development. Ip mission housing : Three diffrent plots within the same campus are designed for residential use. Tw o of the plots are facing the main roads leading to railway station, thus they a re provided with commercial spaces on the Ground and first floor. All three designs are such that they have spacious rooms and cross ventilation within all the rooms. The space is best utilised with least amount of area wated in the lobby spaces. The entrances of commercial and residential are kept seperate. Within the larger plot the buildings are arranged such that they provide a prope r garden.

IP mission School+ZHostel : The school is designed for primary and secondary. The G+2 strucutre is provided with open to sky courts between the corridor and classrooms as the buffer space. All the common facilities are provided on the ground floor. The pre primary clas ses are seperated from the main structure s oas to give them some privacy. The hostel is designed for 200 girls. Each room has 4 beds and attached toilet, bathroom and a balcony. The rooms are so arranged that each one has cross ventil ation and a clear view ahead. The corridor is provided with various seating facilities and drinking water foun tain. The common facilities like the kitchen,dinning, meeting room ect are provi ded on the ground floor. Auroville experience : "Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics an d all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity." Auroville is located in Pondicherry in South India.We had a chance of living and working there as part of our prfessional training. It was the best place we cou ld have gone.. because what we learned was far beyond working drawings or design ing.. Auroville is a universal township in making,an experiment in human unity..It is reaserching practically into sustainable living and the future cultural, environ mental, social and spiritual needs of mankind. People living in Auroville are Aurovillians, they are all tring to become sustai nable in what ever field they are working. For example an engineer will try to make a electric bike or a farmer will grow o rganic food, a cook will cook with solar heat and a weaver will use natural dyes on cloths. for us the attraction lay in form of the group of Architects and designers build ing within and around Arouville. They are the one shaping up the original concep t into practical buildings. They are devicing new methods, material and forms of structures, with each step they are moving towards sustainability. People have constructed their own homes just by them selves.. people live with o pen to sky bathrooms..houses without doors or windows..house within a waterbody. ..or a tree house for that matter. Any corner you stop by, there is something new to see and notice. Above all their way of living is so simple .. that after living there for only f our months, once we came back to the normal world it was difficult ot adjust her e. Four months in Auroville has changed the way we think, strenthened our original beliefs and shown us new posibilities. The simple solar cooked food, dark roads without street lights, absolute silence , the moon lit walks on full moon, meeting new and different people was a very v ery touching experience. It has been more than two years since we went there and there hasnt been a day w hen we haven't thought about Auroville..it has gone deep within our systems.. Nursery school : It is a nursery school in suburban Mumbai. Created with in confined space, the design allows many modulating space and foldable furniture. Garden is give a lot of importance as it is important for children to play and e njoy nature. A loft is created for basic storage facility and its bottom also acts as false c elinig. Lots of coloures are used, to make it attractive for kids.

office ; IF ia an office design for finger expert. The office has two cabins and a recept ion area. The design is very simple and functional. A lot of the space is used for creatin g storage facility, as per requirement.
