THE SECOND SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY

PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
O Lord, Your Word is power to accuse and power to acquit, it is the power to create and recreate. Through Your Holy Spirit You have called me by the Gospel to be Your child and an heir of everlasting life. Grant that the new life that Your Word has created in me results in my saying, speak, for Your servant hears, so that as I listen to Your Word I may grow in the knowledge of your love, in obedience to Your will and in sharing Your love as I serve my neighbor. I pray this in Jesus holy name. Amen

WELCOME
Welcome to everyone! It is indeed good for you to be here today. St. Paul in his letter to the Romans writes, so faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17) As we gather around Gods Word this morning let us pray that it accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent. We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return it to an Usher as the Offering is collected. Restrooms are located on the lower level of this building or across the bridge on this floor level before entering the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please ask one of our greeters or ushers. Children are welcome in our Service and will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.

HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion is celebrated in our 10:45 Service this morning. If you are not a member of Grace and desire to receive this Sacrament of Christs body and blood given and shed for the forgiveness of sins, we ask that you first speak with our Pastor so that the unity of faith might be established. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHER
The boy Samuel heard the voice of the Lord calling to him in the temple and answered: Speak, for Your servant hears. God continues to speak to us today in His Word, and we respond as did Samuel, asking our Lord to speak to us as we listen with all of our heart. As we continue steadfast in the Word of truth we grow in faith and in the knowledge that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. The Spirit works through Means, Word and Sacrament, to give to us the incomparable riches of Gods grace, connecting us to the God who made us and then remade us to be His special people who readily desire to hear His Word.

NEXT WEEKS READINGS - The appointed readings for next Sunday, January 22nd: Third Sunday after the Epiphany, are: The Old Testament Reading: Jonah 3:1-5, 10, The Epistle Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:29-31, and The Gospel Reading: Mark 1:14-20.

Closing Hymn: God Has Spoken by His Prophets Collect for Grace Postlude
P O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, You have safely brought us to the beginning of this day. Defend us in the same with Your mighty power and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger, but that all our doings, being ordered by Your governance, may be righteous in Your sight; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
