Stanford University, Stanford, CA-94305, USA Postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering from 02/01/200 9 to 12/31/2010. 3. University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA-52246, U.S.A Doctorate in Inorganic Chemistry - 12/16/2008 3. Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India. Master of Science (Inorganic Chemistry) 1996 Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) 1994 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 01/01/2011 - Now Working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at Penn State University on CO2 capture using aziridine grafted SBA-15 support. 02/01/2009 - 12/31/2010 Worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Dept. of C hemical Engineering at Stanford University on the following Renewable energy and Alternate energy proje cts: 1. Clean Coal: This project involved the study of Hg-capture by activated carbo n, brominated activated carbon and sulfurdized activated carbon on coal combusti on. The surface characterization of the AC sorbents were performed using X-ray P hotoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and quantitative analyses was performed using co mbustion furnaces and Tekran Analyzer, This project was funded by EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute). 1. Electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction: This project involved a biomimetic effort to reduce carbon dioxide electrochemically in order to produce hydrocarb ons and lower molecular weight alcohols as fuels. It involved using nanoclusters containing iron and nickel sulphide compounds as catalysts to mimic the active

catalytic core of Carbon monoxide dehydrogenase which does the same function in nature. 2. Oxygen possible el Cells. reaction Evolution reaction: This project involved using manganese clusters as photocatalysts for splitting water to generate hydrogen as fuel for Fu These clusters were used to mimic the active site responsible for this in nature.

3. Synthesized ASTM-specified D975 diesel from biological feedstock like soybean oil and animal tallow. Worked very closely with a start-up company based in Ca rmel. 09/2000 - 12/2008 Worked as a graduate (PhD) researcher at University of Iowa, Iowa City; IA on an interesting Heterogeneous Catalysis (Surface Organometallic Chemistry) project involving synthesis of hydrogen through steam reforming of hydrocarbons and lower molecular weight alcohols. Research Abstract: The research focus was mainly two-fold. * Firstly, to synthesize vanadium and V/Zr mixed catalysts on a *-Alumina surfac e employing a technique called grafting. These syntheses were performed varying parameters like temperature, concentration, precursor types etc. The purpose of this was to study the effect of various reaction constraints on the surface dens ity of the catalysts. * Secondly, from previous research in the group it was inferred that co-grafted V/Zr catalysts had significant performance in steam reforming catalysis of hydro carbons for production of hydrogen for Fuel cells. Based on those results a pate nt application was filed. My research involved performing supporting studies rel ated to this patent. The studies involved reducing these catalysts using a H2/He gas mixture under various temperature and hydrogen concentration conditions. Th ey were then characterized to determine relative oxidation states of the active species using X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. The purpose was to understand th e nature of the catalyst surface during steam reforming reactions and also to de termine optimal conditions to get maximum catalytic activity. 03/1999 - 05/2000 Worked as a software consultant in a software company D.P .S Pvt. Ltd Calcutta as a software consultant. 03/1998 - 02/1999 uted Indi Worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for a rep

Pharma Pvt. Ltd. marketing famo us drugs for the heart like Kabikinase and Fragmin manufactured by Pharmacia & Upjohn. 02/1997 - 12/1997 Worked as a chemist in United Breweries, Calcutta, India.
