WORK EXPERIENCE: September 2009 to March 2011 Superintendent for the Evins Regional Juvenile Center located in Edinburg, Texas . I am responsible for all aspects of operations of this 176-bed juvenile corre ctional facility and for the safety and welfare of the 240 assigned direct care and support staff. I provide a direct link between the facility and the South R egion administrators of the Texas Youth Commission and to Executive Staff in TYC s Central Office, located in Austin. I oversee the facilities progress in achie ving full compliance with the Department of Justices (DOJ) Agreed Order through a series of on-site visits, the American Correctional Association (ACA) certific ation process and ensuring that all requirements of the Performance-based Standa rds (PbS) facility improvement process are met. I was responsible for daily operations of this 270-bed correctional facility and the 280 assigned direct care and support staff. I was a lso responsible for developing, coaching and mentoring the junior administrators assigned to the facility and for the disciplinary process for both youth and st aff.

May 2006 to August 2007 Assistant Superintendent for the John Shero State Juvenile Correctional Facility located in San Saba, Texas. I was responsible for daily operations of this 240 -bed correctional facility and the 260 assigned direct care and support staff. July 2005 to May 2006 Training Specialist III for TYC Boot Camp Sheffield located in Sheffield, Texas. I was responsible for developing, revising, coordinating, scheduling and deliv ering all aspects of staff training for approximately 160 institution direct car e and support staff. I provided accurate and timely advice and reports to admin istrative staff at all levels on matters relative to the status and conduct of t raining. I was responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable train ing policies, guidelines and standards. I conducted on-going needs assessments and task analyses to insure that the quality of the training was consistent with staff job functions. January 2004 to July 2005 Caseworker III at the Texas Youth Commissions West Texas State School located in Pyote, Texas. Responsible for the case management functions and service delive ry for a caseload of 24 youth committed to the Texas Youth Commission to include rehabilitation, placement and aftercare services. Maintain individual case fil es in accordance with established case management standards to ensure continuity of care for the assigned caseload. May 1998 to October 2003 Training Coordinator for the Ector County Correctional Center - Odessa, Texas. I am responsible for all aspects of training for 45 administrative and jail staf f. I coordinate, schedule and conduct training in accordance with Texas Commiss ion on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) and Texas Commi ssion on Jail Standards (TCJS) guidelines and standards to insure that staff mai ntain all required certifications. I serve as a member of the Permian Basin Reg ional Planning Commissions Training Advisory Board. Additionally, I serve as th e facility Fire and Safety Officer and am responsible for conducting all require d inspections of the facility and equipment to insure a safe working environment for staff and inmates. March 1997 to April 1998 Regional Training Officer for the Texas Youth Commissions West Texas State Schoo l - I was responsible for developing, revising, coordinating, scheduling and del ivering all aspects of staff training for approximately 330 institution and regi onal staff. I provided accurate and timely advice and reports to administrative staff at all levels on matters relative to the status and conduct of training. I was responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable training polic ies, guidelines and standards. I conducted on-going needs assessments and task analyses to insure that the quality of the training was consistent with staff jo b functions. July 1995 to March 1997 Juvenile Corrections Training Coordinator for the Texas Youth Commission, Staff Development Division - I had primary responsibility for the agencys juvenile cor rections training functions. This included coordinating revisions and updates o f existing training materials, developing new materials to address changing tren ds in the mission and direction of the agency, developing a system for monitorin g training functions in the field, conducting those monitoring visits and provid ing recommendations for changes to agency training policies. I additionally pro

vided consultant services to the trainers and administrators of 10 training scho ols and five geographic regions within the state.

I provided accurate and timely advice and reports to administrat ive staff at all levels on matters relative to the status and conduct of trainin g. I was responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable training po licies, guidelines and standards. I conducted on-going needs assessments and ta sk analyses to insure that the quality of the training is consistent with staff job functions. October 1991 - September 1992 Mental Health Technician on the Adolescent Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency U nit of Rivercrest Hospital - Supervised the daily activities of patients on the unit. Observed and document patient behavior in support of treatment objectives . I was responsi ble for coordinating, scheduling and delivering complex technical intelligence t raining in both the tactical and strategic field environments, as well as in a f ormal academic setting. This included both conventional and computer-based inst ructional formats. I supervised 65 technical training instructors, in as many a s 16 courses, in 12 target languages. I managed the logistical and personnel as sets required to maintain an efficiently functioning 24-hour per day, 365-day a year training operation.
