FINISHED SIZE: CHILD: 18-20 head circumference ADULT: 20 - 22 head circumference GAUGE: Gauge is given in pattern instructions. Example: (13 sts, 1 in diameter) NOTES & STITCHES USED: SC: Single Crochet - insert hook into stitch, YO & pull up a loop, pull through loops on hook. HDC: Half-Double Crochet - YO, insert hook into stitch, YO & pull up a loop, YO, pull through all 3 loops on hook. DC: Double Crochet - YO, insert hook into stitch, YO & pull up a loop, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook. Sl St: Slip Stitch - insert hook, pull up loop and through 1st loop on hook. Beginning ch 1 does not count as a sc or hdc. Beginning ch 2 does count as a dc. PAY ATTENTION to where you start your stitches in each round. On the increase (top of hat) rnds, each rnd will be begin in same st. On the body rnds follow these rules: Ch 1, hdc in same stwork your first hdc in the same st as the ch 1 Ch 1, hdc in next stskip the st at the base of the ch 1 and work your first hdc in the next st Every sc round will start with sc in same st If you dont pay close attention to this, your waves wont line up properly. To change colors: With old color work last stitch to the last two loops on your hook. YO with new color & pull through. JOIN with new color.
