ANNEXURE REGULATIONS OF THREE SHIFT SYSTEM. (NURSING STAFF.

2) The Nursing Staff (Nursing Supervisors and Staff Nurses) must be punctual to report to their shift duty. 3) One day Casual leave shall be cut from the credit of the Nursing Staff for every three late reporting of 15 minutes or more after the scheduled time of commencement of any shift duty. 4) Leave of any type shall not be entertained without prior sanction from the appropriate authority. Leave applications or intimation under extra ordinary unforeseen circumstances should reach the Nursing Supervisor on duty through a messenger or even telephone at least half an hour prior to commencement of the applicants shift duty. 5) Application for Earned Leave, E.O.L shall be submitted at least one month earlier to the actual date of commencement of the Leave and the applicant shall avail the leave only after receipt of the leave order. 6) All leave applications and leave orders shall be routed through Nursing Supervisor / Nursing Superintendent to enable them to make alternate arrangements for the shifts. 7) The Staff Nurses are entitled to avail a total of 5 offs per month of each 3 day offs and 2 night offs. Day off and Night off shall not be combined or exchanged and No Offs (either day or Night) shall be clubbed together. 8) The handing over and taking over of charges of each shift shall be done in the ward / respective place of duty promptly between the Staff Nurses and it should be recorded in the Nurses Report Book available in the ward/place of duly signed by the Staff Nurses both relieved and taking charges, nothing the time. The Nursing Supervisor in charge of the ward/place of duty shall endorse the handing over/taking over of charge, in the Nurses Report Book and submit to the Nursing Superintendent half an hour after the commencement of each shift for perusal and countersignature. In case, any alternate arrangement is made in any shift on a day, due to non-reporting of any Nursing Staff, the countersignature of the Dean/ Head of the Institution must be obtained after one hour on commencement of shift. The names of the Nursing Staff who report late on more than 3 occasions in a month shall be submitted to the concerned Director for suitable action.

9) The Nursing Staff on duty in any shift shall continue to be on duty and not to leave the ward/place of duty unless relived by the Nursing Staff of the next shift. In case, the reliever does not report in time the Nursing Supervisor shall make suitable alternate arrangements, record it in the Nurses Report Book and obtain the countersignature of the Nursing Superintendent and the Dean/ Head of the Institution as noted on Para 8 above . The instructions of the Nursing Supervisor under such circumstances shall be obeyed implicitly to avoid lack of attention on patients in the ward/place of duty and there shall be no lapse on the part of the Nursing Staff in this regard. The Nursing Supervisor and Staff Nurses on duty will be responsible for any complaint of non- availability of Nursing Staff in any wards/ place of duty. 10) Unauthorised absence, which will dislocate continuous care of patients in the ward/place of duty shall be severely viewed and suitable disciplinary action will be taken. 11) The number of in-patients, the number of patients referred to other Departments, the where about of in-patients in any not found in the ward/place of duty, details of treatment to be given to the patients, Nursing care to patients and any other instructions to be carried out should be written in the Nurses Report Book' and intimated to the reliever of each shift at the time of relief in each shift. 12) The Nursing Supervisor shall work with the Staff Nurses in the shift and supervise three/four wards/place of duty according to the arrangement made by each hospital. They should go around the wards/places of duty allotted to them and sign the Nurse Report Book 15 minutes after the commencement of each shift and submit it to the Nursing Superintendent for countersignature after half an hour and to the Dean, in necessity arises, after one hour. They shall make alternate arrangement whenever a reliever does not turn up in time and see that no ward suffers without the required number of Staff Nurses allotted. 13) Staff Nurses of a Department/ward shall take over the Medical Store Keeper, Furniture Store Keeper, Linen, Drugs, Register, Etc. and all the Nurses posted in a ward shall be responsible for the above 14) Clinical rotation of the Staff Nurses in Hospitals shall be once in 4 months and should be planned in advance
