childrens emotional wellbeing by helping them

Kids Corner
provides a natural outdoor setting on one acre
of land. The children are surrounded by trees,
rocks, sand, and grass. They experience the
wonder of nature and we bring nature indoors
too. We collect leaves, paint rocks, gather sticks
for houses, and make leaf turkeys. There are
many ways to integrate nature into our lives.
Its really important to get children away
from the T.V., the video games and the computer
and leave your cell phones at home. We have
the four seasons in Michigan that allow for all
sorts of play and learning.

Question: WHAT THE HECK IS A ROTARY CUP?
Answer: The rotator cuff is a group of four small muscles that surround the shoulder joint and has many different functions.
Its primary job is to stabilize the ball of the arm bone into the socket of the shoulder blade. Every time you move your
shoulder, the rotator cuff stabilizes the shoulder joint before the large muscles take over and do whatever task youre asking
your shoulder to do.
Injuries to the rotator cuff include tendonitis, impingement and tears. All of these can be treated with proper physical
therapy whereas a severe rotator cuff tear often requires surgery. Traditional therapy for a rotator cuff issue includes exer-
cises, stretching, postural training and modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, etc.).
Often times I find that the patient with rotator cuff issues is out of balance in their ribs, hips or legs and once we balance
these areas out, their shoulder pain or restriction is significantly improved! This approach is called Total Motion Release
which quickly evaluates all of the large areas of the body to identify imbalances between the right and left sides. Call us

The surest way to stop a foreclosure is to file for protection under Chapter 13 of the bankruptcy code. Chapter
13 will allow you from 36 to 60 months to pay off any arrears on your mortgage WITHOUT INTEREST. Real estate
taxes can be paid over the same periods, but they carry interest at statutory rates.
If your house is worth less than the total amount owed on your first mortgage, Chapter 13 will allow you to
convert your second and third mortgages or HELOCs to unsecured status. Then they are treated as unsecured
debt, like credit card obligations. Unsecured creditors are the lowest priority and usually get only a few cents on
the dollar in a Chapter 13, if anything.

QUESTION: What about my deductible??
ANSWER: When you have your vehicle repaired after an auto accident or other damage your insurance company may
require you to pay a deductible. Your deductible is the portion of the total repair cost that is your responsibility when you
submit an insurance claim. Your insurance company uses your deductible as a method of making sure you absorb part of the
risk of being insured. (The same will usually hold true for your health insurance company, home owners insurance, etc.) After
you have paid your deductible, your insurance company pays the balance of the cost of repairs. Your deductible is NOT AN
EXTRA COST. There are also variables in the amount of your deductible. Your deductible is directly affected by the type of
insurance policy you choose. And your deductible may or may not apply to any given claim depending on your policy and the
circumstances of the accident/damage to your vehicle.
When you carry auto insurance, make sure that you are familiar with your policy terms and the amount of your deductible.
If you think that your deductible may pose a problem for you in the event of an accident/damage to your vehicle, you may

QUESTION: I am a 66 year old active male scheduled to have a total right knee replacement this year. What type of post-
surgery exercise program will allow me to return to normal functional daily activities?
ANSWER: You are one of 687,000 people scheduled to have total knee replacement this year. Immediately after surgery the
focus is on knee motion. Some surgeons even recommend a knee motion machine to be used at home. This machine
bends and straightens the knee which prevents scarring.
Initial strengthening focused on the quadricep muscle located on the front of the thigh. Straight leg raises and seated
knee extension with weight resistance target the quad, while standing leg curls focus on the hamstrings. Currently more
exercise programs are initiating functional exercises as early as 2 weeks after surgery.
These activities include step ups in all directions, forward lunging and tilt board squats. A recent study in the Journal of
Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy reported that after knee replacement 52% of patients said they had some limita-
tion in performing functional activities compared to only 22% of aged matched individuals without knee disorders.
Bottom line, consult with your physical therapist and continue your exercise program to be the best that you can be!
