1. Overview:

MobileDoc is a java application that can display the contents of native Word and Excel documents. The documents may be transferred to the mobile phone in any manner, such as an email attachment or via Bluetooth. The MobileDoc displays document information in a conventional manner. Document data is displayed efficiently to utilize the mobile phone's limited screen space. Navigation of documents is performed in a manner familiar to PC users.

2. Program Usage:

At program startup, the user is presented with a file browser. Only documents in the supported formats are displayed. Select the document by scrolling up or down using the Navi-Key. The document may be opened using the center Navi-Key or via a menu command.

3. Word Documents:

Upon opening a Word document the first page of the document is displayed. The user may manually scroll through the document by using the Navi-Keys. (UP, DOWN, RIGHT, and LEFT are supported.) An autoscroll feature is provided to allow hands-free scrolling. The speed of the autoscroll is controlled by the user. Search functionality is provided to allow quick access to desired data. The user simply enters the text to be searched or a line number within the Find/Go dialog. The user may jump to the beginning or end of the document using the menu commands or the shortcut keys. ("0" jumps to the end of the document, "1" jumps to the beginning of the document.)

4. Keys for Word Documents: 0 - Go to the end of the document. 1 - Go to the beginning of the document. Navi-Right - scroll one character to the right. Navi-Left - scroll one character to the left. Navi-Up - scroll up one line. Navi-Down - scroll down one line. Navi-Center - display a context menu.

End Key - ends the current operation or dialog ("back" functionality) or closes the current document. A long press on the "End" key will exit the application. 5. Excel Documents:

Upon opening an Excel document, the first worksheet of the document is displayed. The user may scroll through the worksheet by using the NaviKeys. Differing amounts of information may be displayed. The user may elect to display the current worksheet name, the current cell id, and the current cell contents. By default, the current cell id and contents are shown. (Menu item "Settings"). Search functionality is provided. The user may search for cells containing a text string or by entering a cell id, he may jump to a desired cell. (Find/Go command). If a cell's contents are too large to be displayed within the worksheet grid, the user may display the cell content in an extra dialog. (menu item "View cell content"). As described above, the user may autoscroll downward through the document. (menu item "Autoscroll"). The current worksheet may be changed as desired. (menu item "Open sheet" or shortcut key "0"). The worksheet grid may be displayed by itself on the screen. (menu item "Full-screen" or shortcut key "*").

6. Keys for Excel Documents: 0 - Display a desired worksheet. * - Display grid only. Navi-Right - scroll one cell to the right. Navi-Left - scroll one cell to the left. Navi-Up - scroll up one cell. Navi-Down - scroll down one cell. Navi-Center - display a context menu. End Key - ends the current operation or dialog ("back" functionality) or closes the current document. A long press on the "End" key will exit the application.
