TR-133 Board The TR-133 board demodulates the RF signals of MIC1, MIC2, INCOM, CAM DATA, and TONE transmitted from the camera, and modulates the PGM, INCOM, CCU DATA, and H CONT signals to transmit them to the camera. In addition, this board also modulates RETURN VIDEO and PROMPT VIDEO (and AUX VIDEO as well by selection). H CONT Modulator Circuit This circuit modulates the H CONT signal transferred from the IV-57 board. H CONT is a control signal to match the H phases of camera SG and CCU SG. The oscillation frequency varies with the H CONT signal voltage. The RF signal modulated in the modulator circuit is merged with other RF signals through the buffer and the band pass filter (BPF). CCU DATA Modulator Circuit This circuit modulates the CCU DATA signal transferred from the AT-155 board. As in the H CONT modulator circuit, the modulated RF signal is merged with other RF signals through the buffer and the BPF. INCOM Modulator Circuit This circuit modulates the INCOM signal transferred from the AU-300 board. As in the H CONT modulator circuit, the modulated RF signal is merged with other RF signals through the buffer and the BPF. CAM DATA/TONE Demodulator Circuit This circuit has functions for demodulation of the CAM DATA/TONE signals transferred from the camera to CCU-TX50, shaping the CAM DATA signal waveform, and for TONE detection. The RF signal whose modulation frequency is 5.6 MHz is demodulated by the FM demodulator IC. The CAM DATA is shaped after the residual carrier is eliminated, and is then sent to the AT-155 board. The TONE signal transferred to the TONE detector circuit is used to control ON/OFF of 180 VDC supplied from CCU-TX50 to the camera. MIC1/2 Demodulator Circuit This circuit demodulates the MIC1, MIC2 signals transferred from the camera to CCU-TX50. The RF signal whose modulation frequency is 6.2/6.7 MHz passes through the BPF, and is then demodulated by the FM demodulator IC. Then the RF signal is output to the AU-300 board after its residual carrier is eliminated. INCOM Demodulator Circuit The RF signal whose modulation frequency is 7.1 MHz is demodulated by the FM demodulator IC in the same way as the MIC signals. It is then output to the AU-300 board through the LPF. Prompter Modulator Circuit This circuit performs AM modulation of the VBS signals input from the PROMPT VIDEO connector on the rear panel, and then sends the signal to the CA. The input VBS signal passes through the buffer, LPF, and the clamp, and is AM modulated by the modulator IC, and is then amplified by the RF amplifier. The RF amplifier gain is controlled using the compensation data (cable length) provided from the DM-140 board. The signal is transferred further to the RF amplifier and the 100 MHz BPF, and is then output. RETURN Modulator Circuit This circuit performs FM modulation of the VBS signal input from the RET1 or RET2 connector on the rear panel, and then sends the signal to the CA. The input VBS signal passes through the buffer, LPF, and the clamp, and is then amplified. It is then FM modulated by the modulator IC through the buffer. The modulation wave gain is also controlled using the cable length data like the prompter modulator circuit.

AU-300 Board The AU-300 board outputs the MIC1/MIC2 signals demodulated on the TR-133 board to the rear panel, and sends the PGM signal input from the rear panel to the TR-133 board. The board connects the external INCOM line and the front panel upon receiving the INCOM signal demodulated on the TR-133 board. The board also functions for TALLY signaling system switchover and external interface. MIC1/2 Output Circuit This circuit amplifies the MIC1/MIC2 signals demodulated on the TR-133 board, and outputs the signals to the XLR-3 connector on the rear panel. The MIC output level can be selected (0 dB or _20 dB) by S18 and S19 in this circuit. PGM AUDIO1/2 Input Circuit This circuit amplifies the PGM signal input from the D-sub 25pin connector on the rear panel, and outputs the signal to the PGM modulator circuit on the TR-133 board. The PGM AUDIO signal is converted from balanced to unbalanced signal by IC204 and IC205. The input level of the signal is selected (0 dB or _20 dB) by S200 and 201. INCOM Switching Circuit This circuit switches INCOM lines on the CA side and the CCU-TX50 front panel side. There are three types of INCOM lines: PRODUCER line, ENGINEER line (external system), and PRIVATE line isolated from the external system. The switching control signal is sent from the AT-155 board with IIC data, and is input into IC100 that converts the data and turns ON/OFF the analog switches. External Interface Circuit This circuit has three types of 2-channel interfaces with external INCOM systems, supporting 2W, 4W, RTS, and Clear Com interfaces. These interfaces are selected by S204, S205, S206, and S207 according to the system connected. External TALLY Signal Input Circuit This circuit can accept three types of TALLY signal input: contact input, 12 VDC input, and 5 VDC input. These types of input can be selected independently for RED and GREEN TALLY signals by switching S1, S2, S3, and S4. Even if actual input signal does not equal the setting, no failure will occur. Furthermore, this circuit is compatible with any signal polarity for 12 VDC and 5 VDC inputs. IC1, IC2, and Q8 to Q11 compose a power circuit for the external TALLY input circuit only, which is ground isolated by the transformer T2. The signal output is also electrically isolated by the photocoupler PH1.

IV-57 Board The IV-57 board receives the Y, R-Y, and B-Y signals demodulated on the DM-140 board, converts them to digital signals using the 27 MHz clock, and then outputs the digital signals to the EN-156 board. The SKIN GATE signal from the DM-140 board is also converted to digital signal, is delayed in the PLD, and is then output to the EN-156 board. Furthermore, this board compares the CHU-SYNC signal from the DM-140 board with the H phase of TG in the PLD, and then outputs it as H-CONT signal to the TR-133 board. Y/R-Y/B-Y A/D Converter Circuit The Y, R-Y, and B-Y signals from the DM-140 board pass through the inverter amplifier, LPF, and inverter amplifier where their DC components are fed back and clamped. The signals are then A/D converted to 10 bit, 3.3 V p-p parallel signals by IC117 to IC119 with 27 MHz clock input. The R-Y and B-Y signals are then output to the EN-156 board through the D-FF. While the Y signal is delayed in the PLD IC307, and is then output through the D-FF. SKIN TONE GATE Signal The SKIN TONE GATE signal from the DM-140 board is input into the D-FF IC107 with 27 MHz clock input, and is then transferred to the PLD IC307 where the signal is delayed in the same way as the Y signal. Then the signal is output to the EN-156 board through the D-FF IC121. H-CONT Signal Q301, Q303, and IC301 on this board detect the H phase of the CHU-SYNC signal from the DM-140 board, and transfer it to IC303 where the H signal input from the H timing generator in the PLD IC304 is compared with the H phase of the CHU-SYNC signal. The difference is output to the TR-133 board as HCONT signal.

EN-156 Board This board generates VBS, PIX, and WFM signals by the D-ENC from the Y, R-Y, and B-Y signals that are A/D converted using the 27 MHz clock, and converts the signals to analog signals, and then outputs them. This board also generates, D/A converts, and then outputs the R/G/B signals. The SDI signal is also output through the half-band filter and format encoder. VBS/WFM/PIX Signal Circuit The 10 bit, 3.3 V p-p parallel T/R-Y/B-Y signals from the IV-57 board pass through the D-FF (IC102 to IC105), and are then input into the CB generator IC106 where CB output and camera output are switched. The CB output is switched in accordance with respective specifications such as 100 %, 75 %, SMPTE or EIA. The IC106 output is then input into IC326 for digital encoding in which VBS, WFM, PIX, and other signals are generated. The character signal and the SKIN GATE signal are also mixed at this time. The generated signals are D/A converted, and are then output as analog signals. Y/R-Y/B-Y, RGB Signal Circuit The Y, R-Y, and B-Y signals input into IC106 are delayed in the built-in delay circuit to match the phase with the VBS signal phase. The R/G/B signals are also generated by the built-in matrix circuit. IC106 selects which signals (Y/R-Y/B-Y or RGB) to output. The output signals of this IC are converted to analog signals by IC107 to IC109, and are then output as Y or G signal, R-Y or R signal, and B-Y or B signal. SDI Output The Y, R-Y, and B-Y signals from IC106 are input into the half-band filter IC509 to be converted from 8:8:8 to 4:2:2 signals. Then the signals are input into IC502 where mixing of the character signals with the SDI signal, mixing of the SKIN GATE signal are carried out. The signals are encoded to the SDI signal format, and are then output. The signals are converted from parallel to serial signals by IC503 and IC504, and are then output as SDI signals. Subcarrier Genlock Circuit IC326 perform subcarrier genlock synchronization. The SC digital data from IC326 is D/A converted by IC301, and is then input into the phase comparator IC306. The subcarrier signal of the external sync signal and the sync signal are also input into IC306 to compare their phases. The difference passes through the burst gate, is A/D converted by IC311, and is then re-input into IC326 where subcarrier genlock synchronization is carried out.

AT-155 Board Provided with a microcomputer (SH2), the AT-155 board controls the boards and the power supply unit in CCU-TX50, and performs system (including a camera) setting. It also performs command communication with a camera, with RCP, as well as with the SW-1257 board on the front of the unit. This board is equipped with connectors for software upgrade, data input/output, and for Memory Stick. The signal generator circuit has functions to perform genlock synchronization with an external reference signal and to control all video signal output phases. Microcomputer The 32 bit microcomputer IC107 controls CCU-TX50 through serial IIC1, 2, 3 data communication with each board. Its 25 MHz oscillation frequency is generated by the VCO X502. The 16 bit flash memory IC114 and IC115 store the control program, but it can be selected which ROM to store by S102. The control program is stored in IC114 when CCU-TX50 is shipped from the factory. The 1M bit SRAMs IC116 and IC119 are used as work memory. IC301 to IC305 handle input/output data from/to on-board switches, variable resistors, AC power supply unit, etc., including open/short-circuit alarm output of the Triax cable. 700 Protocol The AT-155 board communicates with the camera (DXC-D50) and the external control panel (RCP-D50/ 51) through the 700 protocol interface, using IC310 for communication with the camera, and IC308 with the RCP. The 27 MHz oscillation frequency is generated by X301. Another VCO different from the genlock circuit is used to prevent command communication failure due to occupation of external sync signal. However, this board communicates with the SW-1257 board on the front of CCU-TX50 using the IIC3 interface. Memory Stick Connector A Memory Stick, when inserted into CN103, allows software upgrade and camera/CCU data backup. IC123 controls the Memory Stick operation. Signal Generator Circuit/Genlock Circuit The AT-155 board generates the CCU-TX50 reference signal in X501. This VCO output is distributed to each board. The external sync signal is input into IC507 (PLD) through IC501, IC515, and IC504. The PLD generates burst gate signal, sync signal, and pedestal signal clamp signal using the external sync signal. The external subcarrier signal is also extracted from the external sync signal by IC502, and is sent to the EN-156 board. IC503, IC505, IC523, and IC524 detect the difference between the internal signal and the external sync signal to control the VCO of X501.

SW-1257 Board The SW-1257 board communicates with the AT-155 board using IIC data to control camera data and CCU data. IC1, IC2, and IC6 convert ON/OFF data of the switches on this board to IIC data. Analog data of each variable resistor is converted by IC4 and IC9, and is then transmitted to the AT-155 board. The LED ON/OFF data and the shutter/gain data transmitted form the AT-155 board pass through IC2 and IC7, and are then displayed on this board. It is possible for each variable resistor to select absolute-value operation or relative-value operation by using S17. Absolute-value operation is set for IRIS only, and relative-value operation for the other variable resisters when CCU-TX50 is shipped from the factory. Further, S18 is used to change each self-illumination switch, white/black balance LEDs, as well as the brightness of 7-segment display (for shutter, gain). In addition, main power, camera power, and cable open/short-circuit alarms are displayed with the signals sent from the AT-155 board. INCOM communication is available by connecting an INCOM headset to the XLR-5P connector. S101 is used to select PROD, ENG or PRIV, and S102 is used to select MIC ON, MIC OFF or PGM. In addition, S103 allows selection of microphone type (carbon, ECM or dynamic) in accordance with the microphone of headset to be used. VDA-62 board The VDA-62 board drives SDI, VBS, PIX, WFM, RGB signals to the BNC connector on the rear panel. This board also relays data between RCP and the AT-155 board. The WFM and PIX signals from the EN-156 board pass through the LPF and the amplifier, and are then output to the connector CN4. The relay RY1 is always connected for signals to be output. The PIX signal branches after FL2 and is sent to the PIX OUT connector of RCP. The Y/G, R-Y/R, and B-Y/B signals from the EN-156 board are transferred to the BNC connector on the rear panel through this board. The data transmitted/received to/from RCP is converted to RCP communication format data by the RS232C driver IC7. The RCP power (Q71, PH1) control circuit is not mounted. The IC4 digital audio output is not supported as well. This board is able to select which output terminal (SDI or VBS for 3 channels) to use for signal output based on the setting of the DIP switch on the EN-156 board. The VBS signal passes through the LPF FL201, and is then input into the drive circuit composed of IC201 to IC205. The SDI signal is also input into the drive circuit comprising IC251, IC252, Q253, and Q254. However, only one circuit for selected signal is activated by the SDI/VBS selection signal that is input into Q202, and the selected signal is output to CN5 through the drive circuit. Same SDI/VBS selection circuits are provided for three channels. IO-214 Board This board is used to merge the RF signal (between camera and CCU-TX50) and the power voltage to the camera. The RF signal is supplied from CN2, and 180 VDC is supplied form W1. The RF signal passes through C1, and the 180 VDC passes through L4, L3, and L2, and these signals are merged and then sent to the camera.

SAFETY CHECK-OUT
After correcting the original service problem, perform the following safety checks before releasing the set to the customer : The material contained in this manual consists of information that is the property of Sony Corporation. Sony Corporation expressly prohibits the duplication of any portion of this manual or the use thereof for any purpose other than the operation or maintenance of the equipment described in this manual without the express written permission of Sony Corporation. Check the metal trim, metallized knobs, screws, and all other exposed metal parts for AC leakage. Check leakage as described below. LEAKAGE TEST The AC leakage from any exposed metal part to earth ground and from all exposed metal parts to any exposed metal part having a return to chassis, must not exceed 3.5 mA. Leakage current can be measured by any one of three methods. 1. A commercial leakage tester, such as the Simpson 229 or RCA WT-540A. Follow the manufacturers instructions to use these instruments. 2. A battery-operated AC milliammeter. The Data Precision 245 digital multimeter is suitable for this job. 3. Measuring the voltage drop across a resistor by means of a VOM or battery-operated AC voltmeter. The limit indication is 5.25 V, so analog meters must have an accurate lowvoltage scale. The Simpson 250 and Sanwa SH-63Trd are examples of a passive VOM that is suitable. Nearly all battery operated digital multimeters that have a 20 V AC range are suitable. (See Fig. A)
